And what bike does 'JAM' ride that is far superior, than the '06 Sherco.
Not the one in your Avatar as this is a trials forum
Go on be brave and tell us all, we promise we will be gentle on you!!!!!!

Ditto My moneys on DN to set standard time

My two penneth for what its worth
One set of rules worked before, I think we need one rule for UK trials.
I find myself turning up to events now and asking what the rules are, like a new kid on the block. I have been riding trials for ?? years, I never had to do this when I started.
It's hard enough getting observers nowadays, maybe they are fighting shy not only because they don't know the rules, but are afraid of the conflict from some riders when they dispute their score, these riders probably don't know what rules the particular competition is running under in any case. No stop is easy to observe.
Top riders can adapt to the hopping and skipping if they need to move onto the next level, it is harder for the novice/intermediate to do this.
Another way to get bums on bikes is through people spectating, if ''Joe CBR 600'' is watching a trial and is gobsmacked by by the hopping and skipping antics, is he better leaving the trial thinking no way can I do that, or looking at a 'No Stop' trial, thinking well I could manage some of that
The SSDT is a good example, gone back to No Stop and is over subscibed, because the clubman rider feels he has half a chance of getting through a majority of the sections.
So my vote goes with 'No Stop'
One final point, the ACU had an open meeting to discuss our sport, I am just wondering how many importers were there, surely it is in their best interest to help the sport of trials push forward, not go in decline.
-
Hey does that mean I get a reduction on my SSDT fuel bill
Nice try, I am a Yorkshire Man
-
But whats it like in the sections ???
I know Ishy, it dosn't matter what size sprockets he has on his bike it makes no bl**dy difference
-
Yep, that's about right. One crazy Spaniard on a 4RT passed us on the road leaving Craig Lundie last year, he must have been doing 70mph!!
I tend to nurse the bike round the SSDT no prizes for siezing the old girl up on the road, as that only leads to
I ride everything in 1st gear in Scotland, having gone up one tooth on the front on the Beta, so if it is slightly high geared and I can cope with it then I will leave the gearing alone.
Not sure whether 2 litres of fuel is enough across the moors, as we don't carry any it's against the rules
-
Thanks for that windlestone

No nowt about washing machines, seems you have a wealth of knowledge
Got a missus to do that job, I have a rough idea where the washing machine is, I have a feeling it is located in the kitchen, but I don't go there either
Sorry I can't help, and no you can't bring your riding gear round here
-
Well taken the plunge and ordered a new 4RT('06), yes a lot of money, but just fancy a 4 stroke
So the questions about what to change have been asked before, however that was fairly early on when they first came out.
So here we are a year on, the questions are probably the same, but are there any more:
What needs changing to make it better
What difference do the changes make
Was it worth changing etc. etc.
Hopefully not long now to wait, so it would be useful to know what to get when I pick it up
-
Hey Boofont getting it fettled for next years SSDT.....It's a bit early
And you said you wouldn't do it again
-
-
I'll be there, a bit of 4 stroke power for '06
Ishy are you riding/risking a 4T. Rumours say not due in UK till Feb '06, dosn't give a lot of time before the Scottish.
Bet Kinell has down loaded entry form and with pen poised, SHALL I....SHAN'T I Go on 'K' you know you want to

Hi Ishy
You may already know, but the story I think was that the owner was selling the farm and it may have put a potential buyer off if he was viewing the first Monday in May
Maybe the farm is now sold and the new owner will allow use of the land and it will be back in for 2006.
We have lost some great groups of sections over the years, possibly one of my favourites was ''Acclain'', but the club manage to replace them with equally good sections.
The good thing about ''Lagnaha'' was the accessability for spectators, I am not so sure about the keeness of some riders as it was certainly the sting in the tail for Monday.
Are you back for 2006 and is it 4 stroke power
-
Well ishy had a bit longer than 5 minutes on one, so I will add my ''Two Penneth''
I was actually impressed with the overall handling of the 3.2, time spent was mainly on rocks so I cannot really comment on the grip.
However the engine performed well it was nice to shut the throttle off completely and bring it back in really slow, without playing around with the clutch the engine just pulled and pulled.
Steered well, I have had a 2 stroke Sherco and similar, the only difference is pulling a high gear from full lock to attack a big hill it has a tendancy to go forward and not turn, this is only my opinion.......practice would sort this out
Negatives, probably only one and Sherco I beleive are well aware of this........Starting the B***er, no set pattern, hot, cold, some throttle, no throttle, choke on, choke off it makes no difference. I know you can do mods here and there, but the bottom line is it is a problem.
Every trials bike on the market someone will have a problem, main bearings, stators, falling apart...............the list is endless
4 strokes is going to happen whether the 2 stroke brigade like it or not despite the problems, you pay your money and take your choice
Me am I getting a 4 stroke ....Damn right I am. Ideal bike for Scotland
-
Can't remember what year, but I rode a fantic (Orange one) in the SSDT that had a tubless front tyre.
You think a rear gets a bit scary popping it on with the compressor, well the front took it to a whole new level............Air line at arms length, looking in the other direction just in case the whole bl***y thing disintegrated.
Probably why they never continued
-
-
Surely people are going to vote for the bike they are presently riding, so the poll will be ''What's the most popular bike''
All trials bikes are bl***y good, thats why the manufacturers are still in business. One guy has a problem with his bike then the jungle drums start banging, and it's the worse bike ever, the following week it's another bike so on..............and so on
This poll serves no purpose, people are still going to buy what they want for whatever reason, whether it be colour, specification, weight the list is endless
I have been riding trials for 31 years now, and in two weeks I will be riding my 23rd SSDT, I have had most bikes, all have had some problem with them all......................................the bottom line is that they are all built better than my capabilities as a rider
Here endeth the lesson

Timp...............I Know you want to vote so I have informed ''Uncle Tony'' where you are.
He is going to put a polling station on ''Ranoch Moor'' for those concerned
-
To save a bit of weight, you might want to think about taking the front headlight off as this is not needed for the SSDT
-
-
And what ''Pot'' is he up for
-
Now I am not a gambling man, something to do with ''Yorkshire Blood'' maybe
However I do think that a certain ''Mr Jarvis'' has a pretty good chance of picking up the main trophy Hard man to beat in the SSDT
What may be more of an interesting battle this year, will be the battle for the ''Best First Timer''. To throw a few names in the pot:
Ian Austermule, Michael Brown and of course there is a certain Tommi Ahvala.................
I would hope that the ''Mighty Atom'' could grab it no disrespect to anyone else, but it might be the first stepping stone for a factory to take note
Any other names for the pots???????????
