Peoples opinions vary, and every observing rule is open to misinterpretation, every observer will observe differently the debate will go on. I think that it is right, as said before that the rules of stopping and hopping at BC level is right, but at club level it should be no stop. My reasons are it is a lot easier for the majority to ride, a lot easier for someone who wants to come into our sport to do and to disagree with the 'Quote' a lot easier to observe. Don't slate me Heath for disagreeing, just my opinion, I know a lot of observers that won't observe because it is too complicated, no stop is no stop dead easy, front wheel stops it's a 5.

Tom Leggatt, not sure it is the right spelling, but yes was there last year. A real charachter, used to come in a Robin Reliant, not anymore, but it's a hell of a long way from the South of England in a 3 wheeler on the A an B roads.

Thanks for the verification Perce, in no way are we critisising the officials something has to give though. Make the sections harder(whether that be technical or a tight time limit to ride the section) to bring our riders on the same level as the European riders, to hopefully produce the next DL, then maybe more accidents will happen. It's a learning curve and hopefully some precautionery procedures can be put in place.

Did they not stop the riders at the Scott Trial to let the helecopter land and attend to an injured rider, thus stopping the running time for theses riders and starting again when it was clear?? Maybe on this scenario the club officials could have done the same, I wasn't there so I don't really know how long the observer had to attend. Good on him for attending him and for the rider that was griping about time i just hope that your not injured one day

I have had my 4RT since the first batch of '06 came out so c4 months, yes it was a big gamble having not even sat asride one, and the additional cost was a hard pill to swallow!!! For the people that have rideen it less than 2 months, and rubished the idea, some have only had a 5 minute play and can write a T&MX test on them. Most say they are not as good as a 2 stroke. Well I will let you into a secret 'It's a 4 stroke' What I am saying is that it has taken me the best part of 4 months to adapt, it is a comletely different riding style, over my previous 2 strokes I think the closest 2 stroke to it was my Scorpa, where you can feed the power in right from the bottom end. The people that like them have persevered, and the results are starting to show. Me I love it, can I ride it better than a 2 stroke, not at the begining, and maybe about the same now, so why spend the extra money? Because it gives me far more pleasure to ride than any 2 stroke The extra cost well, I gave it a good strip down yesterday, not only are the parts that you take off ouze with quality, but when you put them back everything lines up and fits without poking screwdrivers through holes to get bolts in. Honda engine, Showa suspension quality parts and the maintenance costs maybe less.............is it worth it, of course it is For those that try persevere, you probably won't go back. With the launch of the Scorpa 250F, and I have had a go on the Sherco 4T, despite it's problems was nice to ride, this will also be launched (again), I beleive after the SSDT. The choice will be even greater, so the debate will not be is the 2 stroke better than the 4RT.......Is the 2 stroke better than the 4 stroke???????

Obviously worked as they have gone to manufacture them now, not critisising, but just an observation Don't really see why Gas Gas UK are strongly recommending them for the SSDT, they have coped in previous years, money spinner comes to mind

Hey Boof! I have been the wrong side of a section marker The rules are there, and the club officials I am sure would implement excluding riders if cheating goes on! If you have severe bike problems that requires work to be carried out in Park Ferme, don't forget that there is a rule now that allows you to continue to ride the trial on a no award basis. So you may see a rider that has had his problems, that you think should have been excluded, riding the following day. Remember for 'Joe Clubman' it costs an awful lot of money to compete in the SSDT, to throw a rider out on the first day if he had mechanical problems, having parted with all that money, was the reason the club brought in this rule. To the riders that cheat and remain in the results, then this is wrong, but catching them is sometimes very difficult. Would you march into the SSDT office and say No.?? has swapped bikes and would or could the officials want to do anything about it on someones 'Say so' If you cheat you are cheating yourself...................Now who wants to give me a lift to Chairlift in the back of their van

That is basically what you can do with a 4RT isn't it, not direct from the dealer, but at the moment it is the one bike on the market with a bundle of performance enhancing parts Sorry Dabster, did I not see you sporting a larger fuel tank on yer Gasser. 35 Miles Wonder what is the longest stretch mileage wise between petrol checks. Saturday from Pipeline to Tramway the bikes are on fumes, but is this the longest OTH? Rule 6.4 is interesting aswell

That must be a fix .........so many first timers Suppose people will be moaning there is too many of them now You know HL, you need to do the job properly, and then you wouldn't get all this moaning. After all you don't have a proper job and you get paid vast amounts of money from the club to this, you enjoy sitting in a little office in the Ben Nevis Hotel till 11pm sorting the results, all for the enjoyment of somone else Buck your ideas up lass, people are watching and taking notes

Ditto Yes it was bad, and yes we have had it equally as bad in Scotland. Very dificult decission for the organisers, and I think in their hearts they would have liked to cancel it before the first rider went out, however I suppose they had to take into account that some peole had travelled quite a long way and all the effort made to mark the course and organise the observers. Some riders loaded there bikes up before they even started, thinking it was best to get out before it got too bad. It was a bit tricky getting back out onto the main roads, but I think it would have been a whole lot worse later on. So good decission, by the organisers and from a riders perspective sorry the course could not have been completed after so much effort by yourselves. The few observers we saw were putting on a brave face, so thankyou. Roll on next year When I got home, not a flake of snow and quite a pleasant afternoon. Your absolutely right and I have said in the past one year there was 167 riders. The riders that are in the entry today and in those previous years are the ones that have supported the event through the bad times. We had a telephone call from Jim McColm one of the years asking if my brother had forgotton to send his entry in, his cicumstances were that he just could not afford to ride that particular year, but the club were scrathing around for anyone to make up the numbers. I would imagine in the lean years that the club, were glad of us regulars as it probably nearly got to a point where they were wondering whether it was viable to run it at all, but we were there giving our support. I am not saying who should be in the entry, or who shouldn't and would any of us on here want to pick/ballot/choose/select the 270 riders, so good on the club Whether your capable of riding at Club, Centre or National level does not make a scrap of difference the SSDT is one to do on your wish list of trials, and the popularity since going no stop has made it over subscribed. The club would like a solution if there is one, so maybe I can start and get shot down.................... The trial used to run 300 starters, the club say it is just not viable to add another 30 riders nowadays.
