Nutty as it is, I'm spending another beautiful weekend glued to Trials Central. Not totally glued, but stuck enough to return every couple of hours for information about the USA Indoor, the AMA Youth Nationals, the European and World championships.
The question of the day.
For friends and family or a rabid fan, if you can't make it to the event for some reason or another, how important is it to get timely information about the event?
a) Very important
Somewhat important
c) Not important at all
-
I'm finding it hard to believe that the TTC can't find someone down there willing to volunteer to post some sort of information about what's going on. Heck, there's plenty of wireless internet available. I'd settle for some cel phone pics.
-
You're kidding, right? Why would the trials public care about this timely unimportant trials news? It's really no big deal.
-
Dan, I sent the same press release to Madison, Janesville and Milwaukee newspapers and T.V stations. We'll put the pressure on those organizations when Patrick returns.
-
For the record, Maureen at the Elkhorn Independent is going to feature Patrick on the COVER of next weeks issue. That oughta make Grandma and Grandpa real proud. And score a few points with all those teachers that he keeps missing classes on - due to his addictive trials habit that kid has. Thanks everyone.
-
He's a she Andy. Maureen Mayrand her name. I've now gotten a call and a couple of e-mails with the age old question. What trials is, and how does it work? She hasn't asked where the seat is just yet. I'm sure that questions coming.
-
Well, it worked. Sorry. I just got a e-mail from the editor. Andy, any chance I could get those photos in hi-res?
-
Iraq? I was thinking more in the line of the mayor giving the kid the key to the city or something like that.
-
Ha, you're going to break that arm of your's patting that back like that. He also made the numero uno spanish speaking trials website also. So, you doing a little touring next week. Care to pick me up in Prague on Wednesday? The way Patrick's report reads, Noel's having a hell of a time navigating.
-
I sent a press release into Patrick's hometown newspaper called the Elkhorn Independent. The editor seemed mildly interested in this good news story. I was hoping those in the trials community both national and worldwide could give a letter to the editor shout-out for Patrick and how proud they should be for his accomplishments. Please title the subject 'Patrick Smage Shocks World' and let them know where you live. That oughta shake up this sleep town.

I'll vote for you. But, I hope you're not using my bike kiddo.

Just think, if our forefathers didn't sign that document in 1776, we'd all still be british and Patrick's win wouldn't have been such a big deal as it is.
But we did - and it is.
Looking at the comments, our brothers to the north in Canada are just excited about the great news as us in America. Patrick delivered every North American trials fan the best Independence Day present we could ask for. A victory in a sport we all so cherish. I woke up proud to be a North American today. I hope you did too?
From all of us at Team Smage, Noel, Patrick, Phillip, David, Wild Bill, Kevin, Max, and myself - Happy fourth of July.

Ringo's going to razz the living tar out of me - but that patriotic video brought a tear to my eye. As for the money, is that all the kid thinks about after he steps off the podium? The way he's draining me this year, I may need to take a second mortgage on the condo.

You can win a world trials without wearing that one piece spacesuit.
-
Section 5 on the second loop, Gomez and Patrick both took fives, whereas the first loop the section posed no problem. Did something odd happen to those two?
And wow, if not for that what looks like a silly five, Patrick would've had a seriously low 1 point loop. The break-down is outstanding. .33 dabs per section for the winner.
-
May I request a podium shot so I can place it on my blog?
-
Oh my gosh. I'm at a loss for words at the moment. If anyone see's Noel and Patrick, tell them I'm so proud of them!
-
Dude, money means nothing at this point. Bring that kid home on top!!!!
-
Noticed Andy's on. Internet must be working fine.
-
-
Well said Andy. Now on your side of the pond, I completely mystified. What happened to Alexz?
-
For historic purposes only - Can any of you long time trials history buffs tell me when the last time an American competed in the European championships?
Bonus. Who was it and how did he finish?
-
Is this today's Euro Championships? If so, I gotta question. Did Patrick make the field?
