Hi, so my fantic 300 1984 has been shearing woodruff keys not that often but a couple of times?? I used to have a 200 that did it a few times over a few years. Is this just a fantic thing of is there something else going on?? Thanks

Make sure you give it the answer its hoping for, otherwise it has a hissie fit.

Is it normal to have metal swarf on the magnetic sump plug?

How to I go about diagnosing the clutch issue ?

And is it a good easy enough job to split engine to allow gasket replacement on gearbox ?

    Thanks in advance

If it's a grey , fine paste on the sump plug  - yes. If you can feel anything - no.

    b40rt,

The leakage from the original petcock was out from the face of the petcock plus it is  unable to shut off fuel to carb completely. No problem with fitting up to the tank itself. This has to do with the rubber disc that controls the off/on/ reserve positions of the petcock. The rubber washers on the new petcocks are not interchangeable. I may end up just using the new petcocks but  I am hoping to get a petcock that allows the lever to face outward. Thus thread size needed. Thanks for your response.

I was thinking the fibre washer would change the position of the tap when tightened ?

MTB helmets are evoluting in almost daily bases....trial helmets are the same over the years....maybe is time to change....

Anything cycling is driven by gimmick, so constant change doesn't indicate constant improvement .....

Ive stumbled across this thread after a google search as I have a detachable swan neck towball on my new car and wanted to know if a DC rack would work.

the bak-rak adapter seemed perfect, then this thread threw my judgement.

    however!!

I’ve since discovered the install shown in this thread is incorrect. The clamp bolt  is shown on the “car” side of the ball. It needs to be on the rear face of the ball as in this attached picture! That should correct the lean the poster discussed and the dact the flange wasnt vertical to start with!👍

Hope it helps clarify in this tread and any future google searchers like myself 🙂

I suggested it was back to front, and  only 5 years later ............

521 views and not one single response? Wow!

Trials folk were helpful back in the day.

Anyroad, I sent the stator off to Westcountry Windings for testing, they passed it fit for service, so the readings I quoted are correct. The fault was in the high tension coil which I found on eBay courtesy of MXtrial, who responded to messages quickly and was very helpful, unlike the denizens of this forum.  . . jd

Many thanks for the reply. I'll keep that in mind but I don't think my conscience will let me allow the chain to drag on the swinging arm pivot point!! I have a road cub and there's a good gap with the 17 tooth front sprocket so maybe this will be the only way out?? Does anyone else use their bikes for dual use and if so what set up have you got?

😆 didn't think you would go for it, but remember the original primary chain tensioner was steel and I never had to replace it in over 30 years.

You're not the only 1 with the same problem, I see Royal Mail's website is saying they've had a cyber attack but it's certainly taking a long time for them to get sorted out again

We regularly send packages to family in the Falklands, recently sending by sea is quicker than royal mail air !!!
