This is one of the faults of the Sherco, in that some times a 3.5 gear is required, but rarely in competition. If you want to pratt around on a particular climb you have 2 choices; change the gearing, learn to ride so far in fourth till it bogs a little then knock it down into 3rd.
Dude, you need to pal up with someone who knows about bikes. The less maintainence you do the more expensive they get, and you need to keep on top of lots of things. Anew chain may well be what you need but also chain and sprockets. When the new one is installed the tension needs to be spot on, and you know you need a half link of course, probably.
Yamaha has sold thousands of TTR125 using the same motor, they are bullet proof motors.
BBR already has 150cc big bore kits and powroll has 175cc big bore kits available. The cases have to be bored out to install the 175 kit so it is at least twice as expensive.
Many variables here, but as the top guys run around 4/5 psi in the rear and hit large rock steps in 3rd that would be fine for you. 5 in a michelin shouldn't give any trouble at all and good traction for a 13stoner.
Over 40 myself and always had 290's, as long as you have reasonable throttle control they are fine. The general consensus before the 04 was that the 250 was a little more snappier anyway so a 290 is the choice, forget what tmx say.
Very strange, never had a problem starting on any of my 290's. Check and clean cab check and clean magneto, spark plug gap etc all the basic stuff but that is unusual. Float level set at 18.5?
sorry to go off the course of topic but noticed summit i really need to ask so olly sherco notice u said u have made set up changes to ur 04 sherco 250 which i hav got n am not happy with cnt find any grip with it i think its pathetic but i wud hav sold up n got a gasser but its only 3 months old nd wanna stick with the sherco clan the best!!!! so jst wondered if u cud tell us what u hav done to ur bike
Its you not the bike the grip is not as easy to get as some would lead you to believe and there is not alot you can do on set up to alter it. Perhaps olly can post his tweaks for us all to see?
Sorry Guys, but your statements seem a bit lame to me (no offence)
If there is a difference, it aint gonna make much difference to your average Joe Club rider (me).
I can imagine that yes a Tubeless tyre has stronger sidewall's than it's tubed counterpart, but i cannot see how my tyre will now not grip as good just because I've put a tube in it.......the one things for sure I ain't getting any more puntures, slow or otherwise
I do see you point of view, but if I said ride every trial with 7lbs in your tyre would you?

Wheel alignment or chain tension? Wheel alignment is easy to check with a string front tire two touches back tire 2 touches aligned!
