  1. Do any modifications for yourself, not to try and increase the value of the bike.

You will never recoup any of the money you spent "tricking up" your bike.

In fact a lot of buyers may be put off by such a machine as it may not be to everyones taste.

    Do post a pic though!

  2. Welcome to TC!

Top tips for your first trial:

Get there early so you can sort yourself & your gear & entry out.

Tyres 4 PSI rear, 6 or 7 PSI front.

Drink plenty of fluids before & during the trial.

Watch the other riders through the sections carefully & try to copy them.

Don't be afraid to ask the observer for a 5 if you don't fancy tackling a hard section, no-one cares.

Don't give up even if you have lost hundreds of marks, enjoying yourself is the most important thing!!!

Come back here and tell us how you did

  3. Better for Ossa would be to say that the new rider needed a little more time to adapt to the machine and its innovative characteristics prior to competing at the top level.

If they had said that, i would have read between the lines that the bike was unrideable!!

  4. Another option to consider is the transit connect LWB, similar size to the pug/citroen dispatch.

I've had a couple over the last few years.

Positives: Good reliability, get at least 2 bikes in (with safety cage installed), 90HP engine decent power.

Negatives: Average fuel consumption (no more then 40MPG), uncomfortable seats, Ford often have difficulty getting parts for some reason!

  5. Good to see you've given up on a 4 stroke scorpa, however a 290 sherco isn't the best bike to get if you're a beginner.

Maybe this isn't what you want to hear but if you search the forum postings the same bikes always get recommended for learning on, i.e Montesa 315 (250cc), Scorpa 250 (2 stroke), Beta rev3 250, or any 200cc 2 stroke if you can get one.

I have a sherco 2.9 and its a great bike, but i really wouldnt recommend it to a beginner.

  6. Would love to see some more of the top world riders at the SSDT, but the event is so different to what Raga/Bou/Fajardo usually ride, could they adapt quickly enough to take the win?

Personally i don't think so, but it would be very intersting to find out!
