I was over here looking on the XiU-rdi website at what they have cooking up and wala they have a drop in fuel injected GasGas trials engine. Knowing that they were involved with the Ossa development it could be a direct offset of that but this could be where GasGas may be going in the future.
No sorry let me explain. This is the fuel needle which gets pushed up by the floats. Its base screws into the carb housing and that base was loose allowing the needle to turn closer and closer to the floats. It is a long shot but if you were in the carb it could be. This has nothing to do with the needle attached to the slide.
My exhaust plug was a big Duh moment for me. Had the header pipe off to clean and didn't pay attention to where that small screwdriver went. Apparently mine went into the mid muffler and it was just enough to plug it.
Two weird things I have happen to me similar was I accidently got a piece of plastic in my exhaust when I had the header pipe off. Ran but sputtered above part throttle. Secondly was that my fuel needle had partially backed out causing my bike to run lean (lowered my float level) and that too caused a fuel starvation at partial throttle.

There are a number of trials organizations in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. There is a trials meca just outside Chattanooga. They aren't as sparce as you would think.
I will try to do a DIY post the next time i do mine. Fleebay $20, some fiberglass resin, a bit of time and effort and you have it done. Just gotta take care that you don't get too sloppy. If you have ever done fiber glass you can do carbon fiber. Its not structural so you don't need the technology. I even made a carbon guard for the mrs Scorpa.
Dealing with a recent plumbing issue here at the house reminded me of a few pranks from my youth. (plumbing problem alone is trials related and actually quite funny but that is for another day)
So when I was a youth I used to torment my parents in unique ways. Calling as a telemarketer during dinner and the like. One day I went to my mom and and told her that I had accidentally done an "upper decker". She had no clue what that was so I had to explain it to her.
For those that don't know, an upper decker is when you take a dump in the tank part of a toilet. Here in Murica we don't have the 30cm by 20cm button on the wall. We have a tank with a lever.
So I proceed to explain to her what an upper decker was and that it was totally by accident. She was beside herself trying to process how that could have been an accident but I proceeded to explain that i was tired from the night before and that I could tell that something wasn't right when i lifted the lid but had to really go.
She proceeds to call my dad from the other room and is trying to explain what I had done. I then proceeded to tell them that its worse... I indicated that I had corn the night before and that was causing the flushed toilet to not stop flushing. (flapper on the bottom of the toilet tank wasn't sealing as it should) My parents house has a Septic system (no sewage in the country where i grew up) and the septic system has a limit as to how much water it can take before it starts over flowing.
Well that sent my elderly parents into a tizzy about what do we do, who do we call, how could you, ect... ect... In reality i had not done any of this but it was one heck of a reaction. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and they are still doing well today.
Another toilet related prank was a college friend was having a party for a bunch of fellow engineering students. As the night proceeded one of the students decided to put Quickerette (30 lb bag of cement) in the toilet tank. This wasn't discovered till the next day by the host of the party. Never invite engineers to your parties.

I have two carbon pipes. I have patched the hole with Carbon fiber several times. Will have to do it again. Just keep it bent away from the wheel as best as possible. Check for any cracked mid muffler parts. I made a mold out of two pieces of PVC so i can start making my own. Get some carbon fiber and some fiber glass resin and go to town.
I'm going to be respraying my cases this year. Magnesium isn't too hard to paint but I would stay away away from any etching effect. Magnesium takes to that poorly. I was a body guy (icar certified) before I left my last dealer. 2 part epoxy is where it's at but keeping the corosion at bay before the respray is going to be dificult.
Which brings me to the question of just how many languages can you handle?

MeinDeutsch sprechen sucks. I can order food, get groceries and argue for a three. My coach corrects my English but that's ok cause shes wayyyy smarter than me and definitely kicks my butt.
Actually when I first get there my brain has a hard time adjusting but after a while I am "OK". Within a week I can understand 70% of what is spoken to me and I can reply with very broken responses. The future mother in law knows as much English as i know German but we can communicate pretty well. The misses has learned to let go and she knows how much I can process but sometimes refuses to speak to me in English on my request. It does help. Being immersed in the culture really helps. What i found interesting is that i had not taken French for Years yet when I visit Luxembourg or France i have no problem picking it back up. I also find that if i am leading the conversation its easier for me since I am expecting a limited number of responses back. My biggest struggle is gender and reading the words. One word is actually pronounced as two or three at times and everything has a gender.
If you ever visit the EU i would say try and learn phrases and words. You won't always need them but it helps you get into the mind set. Most people in the EU speak English but you need to know some bare necessaries. I was quite proud of myself that i could order flowers for FanticMatze's birthday through a florist that knew basically no English this past trip.
Here in Michigan we have five clubs currently. Each club has to put on two events a year. We have some two days and some single events. Most of our two days are because people have to travel. Our club has 20 member or so and we all take part in trying to put the trials together. Either mowing, section lay out, checking whatever you can do to help. We collect for parking and get some from the riders entries so that pays for the landowners present (never beer ) and our supplies. Other clubs are not quite as large but they seem to pull it off. A few year ago we lost our Ontario crew because it was just three people and it just wasn't feasible for them. We can't wait till they return but only time and help will tell.
In the event we generally have 35-55 riders. Over the past year i think we have seen 7 or 8 new riders show up. Some show up and trials is just not for them. Some show up and take to the sport like water to a duck. Our riding fees are 20 per event with valid ama. No other fees necessary but if you want season total points you must join a club and help. Zippy and I are pretty active in our club along with several others. Our property owner is a bit of a red neck and big in flat track so our event can have up to 150 spectators but most clubs usually have a few dozen. We usually have a group of flat trackers from the Flint area show up and ride then after our event they will pull out the XR100's and have at it. Flint is a flat track mecha.
I grew up in upstate NY near Syracuse so I started riding in D4 and was one of the first people to ride in the infamous 3D club. In those clubs we found that a few people would set up a whole event. It was much different but it worked for them. Dad and I had setup several events over the years in New York but it was up to the organizer to solicit checkers. That's the hard part. Some events we would get checkers because they just didn't feel like riding while other times we had to beg the wives or riders to help out. 3D has no checkers. Its the honor system and it is a relaxed atmosphere. I have ridden a few events in 3D since i moved back to Michigan because its fun. Here in Michigan its a club effort and no one person senior or noob isnt aloud to provide input. I found that refreshing because the effort is shared. I usually work 2 to 3 weekends for each of our event and camp at our property the night before just so I can clean up any last minute things. Some how i get blamed for all of the mud in our event which I am still trying to figure out.
I also ride TI events in Ohio or Indiana now and they seem to be setup by an individual but in the end they put out some really great events as well.
Bet Rossberg wishes he had a old fashioned throttle link either cable or hydraulic rather than "fly by wire" electric.
You seriously think that a throttle cable is better in F1 because it "wouldn't" stick or be effected by the g forces seen in an F1 car? Dude... really?
Bet Dan Forbes and Glen Edwards wished they had electronics on their YB-49 rather than the "old fashion" control based system.
