I was initially only wanted the cover to stop any water getting into the airbox when washing the bike with a powerhose and was looking to remove the filter, fit blocker with usually a bit of blue rill in the airbox to be extra safe. We have motocross bikes and they are available for them and do a great job and wouldn't consider washing them without one fitted.
The lid seems to be very cheap (£3) so I will certainly just make my own as already discussed.
What has become apparent and something I was unaware of, as I haven't had the bike out yet, is that water can get into the airbox when riding the bike !
I would appreciate your feedback on the clear cover as it might be something else to add to my list.
In the meantime there seems to be rubber strips available for between the exhaust and mudguard that help keep the dirt away from the airbox,
thanks for all the replies
-
probably for now a combo of these two will happen as it seems twin air etc dont do one for this bike which is surprising as they make them for every mx or enduro bike made
I might get another lid, silicone thin plastic (sweet box lid) over the hole put some foam round the edge to seal it when fitted
cheers

I saw the clear filter cover for use when riding the bike, I would like to see one of these in real life, does it not restrict the air intake and therefore make the bike run rich ?
I was hoping for something like the following that fits a Beta 250 enduro bike
-
does any one make an airbox blocker/cover for a 2012 Evo 300 so that no water gets into the airbox during washing ?
or any pics of home made efforts that do the same job
thanks
-
yes its pretty straight
cant wait to get it home
-
I have decided to buy it, at £1600 I had to. See attached pic and thats it covered in dust
its for my 17 year old son who is moving from a 125 so it will be a baptism of fire but he is 14 stone and still growing
hes also a motocrosser too so the beta will be timid compared to a 250f
reading all the forums everyone always says buy on condition and this is in excellent condition and only 2 owners from new and the 2nd one who has had it for years, never rode in a trial on it.
to now 170 people have read the thread and nobody has come back and said this and that breaks or look for this etc so I'm now happy they are a good reliable bike
it can be tamed a bit with a slow action throttle or maybe a base gasket. He only rides occasionally and only for a bit of fun, the power we will just call character.
I can always sell it but I doubt I will.
thanks for all the replies

I have been offered a 2012 evo 300 by a friend for what seems good value to me
its in excellent condition and has done very little in the last 5 years
tyres are good, all bearings etc are fine
it wont idle well but a good carb clean should cure that as it hasnt ran for about 2 years so not a big worry
were these a good bike ? and do they have any big issues before I confirm I'm taking it
whats the power delivery like ?
thanks
-
thanks for the replies
I have been offered a 2012 Beta 300
its in excellent condition
dont know much about them either but I'm getting the vib they are good
I will ask on the Beta forum
-
I am looking at buying a 250cc trials bike and am considering a Sherco as we had a 125 for many years
My budget stretches to a 4 or 5 year old bike I think
I realise that condition is the most important thing when buying so open to any year really.
I have no real info on Shercos from roughly 2010 to 2015, what were the differences and did they give much bother ?
is there a year to aim for or avoid
thanks
-
seems to be the main culprit of the rubbish brake, I will order one and report back
-
I have just done a bit of investigating
My Gremica master cylinder has a 11mm piston
A new Ajp master cylinder has a 9.5mm piston
can I assume that this increases pressure ?
-
thanks for the replies, I have tried deglazing pads etc but it doesnt last long'
I assume a better master cylinder from a more modern bike would create better braking even with the 2 pot, but which one fits ?
I have heard of fitting a 4 pot directly on but it seems its only marginally better and that the master cylinder needs changed too.
-
I am sure this has been asked before but I dont seem to be able to make the search function work
so apologies in advance
I have a 2000 315 with a Gremica master cylinder and 2 pot caliper and as many will know, the brake is poor
whats my options to improve it ?
4 pot caliper
new master cylinder
or both above ?
if what make etc
better modern pads ?
many thanks

its been mx season so forgot about the trials bike for a while
our mx graphics supplier has located the template for the 06-09 Sherco and can now supply custom graphics in the thick mx quality
these will not fall off
just need to design something and get him to make them.
I can supply details if anyone else needs kits, original Sherco kits are no longer available
-
just looked at his site and he has clear protection stuff listed, http://www.moto-graphix.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=33_76&product_id=128
maybe suit your needs although it can be any colour you ask for, its just printed plain with a top protective coat applied
-
any motocross graphics company would sell you a square of black or any colour number plate with no printed number, cut it to suit your needs
ordinary vinyl is too thin,
this is seriously sticky stuff and takes abuse, just make sure the area is cleaned with a contact cleaner and if need be, heat the material with a hair drier for contoured areas, plus it makes the glue even stickier.
The minute it touches your bike its on, no second chances
we use http://www.moto-graphix.co.uk/ Tim posts all over the uk, ring him and explain the size you need
-
thanks for the replys
Splat seem to have little available for a 06 - 09 sherco
We race in mx and get all of our graphics custom made in quality stickers that when they touch the plastic they are there forever, unfortunately our supplier doesn't do trials bikes
its £150 for our yamaha, so I'm expecting near that for the Sherco
There seems to so much poor quality trials stickers out there
-
need to freshen up our 06 125
there seems to be some horror stories of internet/ebay graphics kits so trying to avoid these.
where is the best company that produce graphics to mx quality and thickness
-
thanks
lucky for us there seems there is no obvious issues with these wee bikes or any one thing that would massively improve them that makes economic sense
I might try a set of Boyesen carbon reeds, if their claim is right it gives it a bit more low down power
new tyres and more practice seem to be the best bet though
thanks for the replies
-
my son is 15 and has had his 07 sherco for many years
the bike is in excellent condition so would like to keep it
Are there any obvious upgrades that would improve the bike ?
more power ? (without a bigger bore)
gearing ?
suspension ?
any thing ?
thanks
-
Fitted a new switch anyway
On the obvious assumption that the new one works properly
These wee things runs hot before the fan kicks in, but it kicked in
the coolant was probably slightly overfilled as its hard not to, coolant just started to drip out the overflow, then the fan came on
will call it a result
-
our fan didnt come on this morning and she let out a puff of steam, tested the fan and its fine
do the these switches give bother often ?
I replaced one already on this bike a couple of years back and we dont ride very often.
am I right in saying it should come on at approx 71 degrees when testing ? our does have continuity in boiling water but need to find a thermometer to test it properly
thanks
-
I think I better get the exhaust off
is there any jetting changes needed with the restrictors out and airbox cover cover opened up ?
thanks
-
I have a 315r 2000 which is bog standard, to save the like of me asking questions that others who are much more knowledgeable thinking "thats been asked a 100 times"
Was there ever a thread or an article written that went through the 315 and pointed out its evolution and possible ways that the older bike could be improved.
For a starter I'm aware that dimpled clutch plates are a big improvement, what about brakes, engine oil, exhaust etc ?
thanks
-
I'm reading this with interest, I've a 2000 315 from almost new.
Has it got restrictors in the exhaust too ?
Further to this is the silencer on my bike got a bend in the inner waffle pipe that restricts the bike a bit, someone has mentioned to me that if it has replace it with a straight one to help gas flow
Many thanks
