Hi Greeves, Thanks for that, we're in the early stages of possibly putting a party together consisting of riders who did it last year {rock god with the guitar} and people like me who have threatened to do it for years but never got round to doing it including a couple of schoolboys who like riding twinshocks. Hi, you have to remove the bolts to the rear subframe and then prise the subframe from the swingarm as there is a bush that passes through both, then the swingarm will release itsself.

Some of the regular peak classic members will be aware of the accident Simon Foulke had on tuesday 22nd sept. Modern and twinshock rider Simon was busy working on M1 between j27 & 28 when he received injuries after an accident whilst driving machinery. The nature of his injuries have put him in intensive care. Without going into too much detail Simon's condition is critical but stable. Our support and best wishes go to his family at this time. I stiil say why was it a controverial win? Simon dropped the same amount of marks as Pete carson {who is also a friend} who was riding a macdonald cub, is that not controversial? I dont think it is. I sometimes ride against Pete and alot of the other local lads who also ride Macdonald cubs in the Unit class at local events, and to be quite honest I enjoy putting my C15 ,{what is now regarded as a heavy weight} bike up against them. You go to work all week and if tricking your bike up blows your skirt up (I know it does mine} Its all good. Its not controversial. Regarding the ACU I dont think they are really that bothered. The rules are no discs and correct me if Im wrong but all parts must be "period". Check Nigel Birketts works Suzuki complete with yam mono wheels forks swingarm of which I dont have a problem with as with Chris Koch's cotswold. Both have two shocks ,drum brakes and are air cooled. Remember you could still buy a Godden framed Majesty off Shirty well after the mono's came out so you could say all parts are period. My Majesty has a Mono front end but with a new billet yoke to bring the front in a bit. controversial? regarding the ignition thats, IT400 electronic from early eighties. Carb is 28mikuni vm circa 2007. Air in tyres is from last week! I agree with Woody in that we ride bikes we have an affinity for, I grew up watching Kicksart and Junior Kickstart I cant remember seeing an Ariel or a Matchless compete at any event in fact my C15 is older than me! But why is it seen to be ok for the died in the wool pre 65 boys to trick there bikes beyond recognition{ of which I still have no problem}yet when a twinshock gets the treatment its "controversial". Yet when the sections these bikes were designed for become a bit tasty the cry "these arn't pre 65 sections the're twinshock!" is heard. Whats that all about? You compare a standard 70's twinshock to a modern pre 65, the 70's twinshock is like riding a 5 bar gate ,we might not ride very often but we still love em. My opinion is this if it gets feet on pegs at the weekends whats the problem? we have far bigger things to worry about like the current state of the economy, losing land not enough observers etc. Ps cant wait till the recession ends so I can order my macdonald Cub

Hi Paul, In respect to your well worded and much appreciated review of the recent Peak Classic July trial, I'd just like to ask why the win for Simon Foulke in the twinshock class was controversial. I agree parts such as the engine and front end are ty mono, but the rear portion of the bike is a standard twinshock including the rear wheel. {and you will notice it has 2 shock absorbers} I dont want to get too political one the subject of bike legality but you ride a "James" with a lot of sourced parts no older than 2006, apart from the service items on Simons bike everything else is either 30+ or nearly 30 years old. As you know I too have a british bike a C15 bristling with expensive billet bits and altered frame geometry all in the hope of competing on the modern classic sections. So I'm not going to be a hypocrite and pretend that I ride a standard bike. I, like you and Simon and 90% of all pre 65 and twishock enthusiasts enjoy enjoy tricking them up. All this development has come from the British bike brigade moving the bar higher and higher by men with vernier gauges and too much time on their hands. I dont think there are too many events in the summer,for the last 6 years our little Derbyshire travelling trialing circus complete with caravans start at easter in Exmoor and carry on via Scotland , Richmond Blue bar, Scarborough, Billsdale, Manx{if you can get in} and The lakes and some times dartmoor 2 day {if it doesn't clash with the Lakes}. Thats approx one a month. Throw in a northern bike round and a Sammy Miller a month still leaves quite a few week ends to put on another quality 2dayer in the summer. Couple of my mates have done the welsh 2 day when it hasn't clashed with Scarborough and said it was an exellent weekend but they wouldnt sacrifice scarborough for it. {due to logistics}. My opinion is late July early August would be an ideal time the retro 2 day as not every one wants to travel to the Nostalger to do a one day trial and watch all the other fun and games and theres not alot else on other than club trials around that time. 6 or 7 of us would definately do another 2 dayer around this time. Half a dozen phone calls to other clubs to find out dates would stop the clash of events and then we could look forward to another event that could get itself as established as the older events.
