  1. Spud, when you find the tape measure can you let me know if you think it's a goer. Was just looking at various clamps on fleebay and the Katoom ones looked about right.

Offing up the 08 KTM clamps to my Fantic yokes its defo possibility. I did measure the fat bars (handlebar diameter) on my KTM and they came in a 391mm round. My scorpa sy, which has trials fat bars also came in at 391mm round. The original fantic mounts would have to be removed (machined flush) and then two holes drilled throw to yoke to mount the KTM clamps. I would consider fitting the clamps myself but i don't have the tools to machine the top yoke. I've taken a photo of KTM clamps which maybe of use.....let me know if you go for it.

  2. After collecting and moving on several 200 top yokes, i am now left with 5 bottom yokes. The hole in the middle is too big as the shaft is bogger in dia at the botoom so i will get some sleves made. Also I need to weld the hole on one side that was used for the brake cable. Once done, i will fit APICO single bolt fat bar mounts and away we go.

    right Spud?

    Lee

Sounds good to me lee  ....i was just reading elliedog orginal post and he mentioned KTM. i've a set of fat bar clamps off my ktm in my garage which are not in use, now where did i leave that tape measure? B)

  3. Maintenace and the lack of will kill any bike. Design faults are a pain there's no dispute, so why not sort the things which are easily done and then enjoy the bike?....and so what if it leaks fuel speak to the dealer or importer find the fix. Its far better to have a fix then have no cure and the 4rt is no saint......blimming thing would not start when hot, or the tick over flys you around a section, or the clutch is so on off its like hitting a brick wall at 60mph, its too noisy...but then the rear wheel design on a 4rt is so much better than any of the others (yes the new gas gas has it this year).

  4. The 450 BMW did well enough in the 2008 Red Bull Romaniacs, so I don't imagine for one minute that will handicap Knighter. But Doug on the Beta Enduro now that is of supreme interest.

The BMW also did well at the Erzberg, but didn't win! I haven't seen Knight ride a four stroke at the Last Man Standing, Erzberg and any other extreme events? The four strokes are good at the west beach race and GBXC along with the WEC. The tough one is an extreme course and two stroke win face the facts. Taddy could have rode a KTM 450 at the tough one but is chosing to ride a 200 two stroke and he's one of the best rider in the world.

  5. tyre wise, trials tyres are not allowed mx/enduro only

I think the reason trials bikes are banned is that they have there own event this year, the speed trial.

Even though the course is technical and probably more suited to a trials bike the trials riders could not compete with the enduro bikes as they were just to fast, hence the reason for there own event.

If only the course had a few more high speed field crossings it would take the advantage away the trials bikes...... But like most things a well balanced event would require quite of lot of working out to,so best split the machinery.

  6. probably is, cheak to see how much oil you used. they can be replaced without splitting the motor. Get two old spokes nad grind the hub ends to make hooks. Hook them in and out comes the seals.

Hello Lee, just noticed your selling loads of fantic bits and bikes. I know this is a little of this topics thread but do you have a set of 200cc yokes for my 240 for sale and would they bolt straight bolt with the standard forks?....i'm assuming you'll still retain one bike after the clear out for comps.

    thanks,

    cliff

  7. The only 4rt i seen being ridden are by novice riders where i come from and most experts ride 2-t's. The only 4t bikes to make any headway is the 08-09 sherco 4t, now ridden by two top experts. My old 05 4rt was great on rocks but crap in mud, stable and a bit heavy. My current scorpa sy is great in the mud not that bad on rocks, stable and a bit heavy.

  8. Hi guys,

My brother has a sy 250 2005 model, lovely bike i have to say, but ive been given the chance to buy a 2008 model so can anyone tell me what changes have been made to the bike since 2005? I would like it if there was a little more power.

i have a beta 250 2007 myself but really liked the scorpa ride but thought it lacked a little power. Any advise would be great.

this is well spooky i just sold my 2007 beta rev3 250 for a 2008 sy 250. first thing is the clutch action is a lot better (progressive) on the scorpa and the front end is more stable, it also grips better in the mud but could be down to a little less power, and when i say a little thats all it is bearing in mind my beta had boysens reeds, flywheel weight removed and a some re-jetting. The beta has a better rear end (plush) and i preferred the ride postion of the beta. as you can see they are very close bikes but i do prefer my scorpa it give me confidence.

  9. Just bought this bike. Seller very vague as to exact model, only that it is a 300cc. 2000 model.

I would like to know in order to get parts as the machine requires a bit of fettling.

    Montesa.jpg

Its a 315 model with a 250cc engine i'd say a 1998 model. Its a little odd the owner didn't know the engine size or bikes spec.

  10. Atom, I think I misquoted you. I believe you said "oh @&$" which proves your pure athe

    ist heart, er... Brain.

So when you tell your woman you love her, is it with "all your heart" or "all your brain"?

Actually Atom, you were the only one giggling like a school girl on the trip. No religion and no fear!

If there was a way of discovering knowledge of religion and where it comes from there are two routes, one is what I might call discovered knowledge (i.e. the world is round) and the other is through Greek philosophy where a claim to higher knowledge of

  11. Well after much deliberation I've taken the plunge and bought a 2008 KTM 450 EXC-R & free KTM toaster, for some dune bashing in Dubai.

Anyone any tips for running one in and what to look out for.

The running in is done by hours best speak to your dealer. I've just bought a 530 exc, second hand was going cheap the former owner found it too powerful. Your 450 is powerful but the 530 is on steriods when opened up. I've ridden an 05 450 today nice bike but won't be as good as yours. I'm seriously thinking about riding mine in club trial at the end of the month thats how smooth the KTM's are. The weak points of KTM's compared to Honda is the electrics have a habit of letting water in. Your 450 will blow forks seals like there going out of fashion so buy some sock covers to cover the seals. The older ktm's needed there front caliper bleed regular i was told. The caliper has small areas where oil doesn't get too. If you ride on woodland tracks as i do you'll need to curb your right hand compared to any trials bike but on the dunes it will be mega. Just think of the weston beach race you'd be a front runner and racing knighter :D

  12. Nope - did some in the Army, not fit enough to hang on or mad enough to do any good these days ;)

you not mad i thought you was stark raving bonkers :D

I hear the army are looking a diesel enduro machine, poss Kwak 650 chassis with the diesel engine replaced.

  13. Jarvis did win the Romaniacs race, the craziest enduro on earth. I think Knighter will have the edge on Jarvis in comps because of his experience, and Knighter makes a KTM 450 look like a trials bike he such a big bloke. Strange how Knighter, Sagar, Braybrook, Jarvis do so well in enduro's, think i might enter one myself - erzberg could be a good starting point :D

  14. I don't agree with the title like Kinell said earlier. I also thing Hillary should have responded by now. Looking at the slightly bigger picture this website is like a global chatting community (this is how i see it) and 'Child Abuse' makes me shiver. Perhaps if rappers could make a hyped up title about 'race' (skin colour) because lets face it with a title about race he's gonna get another response and unfortunatly the truth is most trials riders are white males.

  15. Just a question that came to mind while sitting here bored ...

In the production run of the exalted 240 pro , Just how many were built ?

Or should I contact fantic and ask them ?

    Just curious ...

    Glenn

I've got one, lee's got one so add these bikes to what you have i reckon twenty thousand and two bikes  ......sorry couldn't resist

  16. It appears a lot of the trials community are tradesman of some kind and they are being hit real hard, so it be fair to say the best selling bike in 2009 will be the cheapest?
