  1. My sons TY 175 that he's just rebuilt for kia champs next year
  2. Hi there youre right, its a b100p engine but to be honest hasnt cost me a lot so happy enough. started it for the first time todqy and sounds lovely, runs nice and first seems low enough for sections cheers john
  3. Just finished the rebuild - was a bit more than "oiling the cables " as described ! But didn't cost a lot - reused a lot of bits and pieces from the garage , only major items bought some new shocks . Try it out soon ! Cheers John
  4. The engine came with the mikuni hence used it . I may try without the manifold spacer just to check airl leaks Cheers John
  5. Definitely no leaks from manifold ! Although I may try without the manifold to confirm any theory Cheers John
  6. Hi I have a bantam - b175 engine running mikuni carb and electrex world ignition. Starts ok, bottom end is not bad (a little boggy), but the main problem is overrun. Open the throttle and Revs out but when the throttle is shut takes a good 3-4 seconds to drop revs to Tickover - but will Tickover ok. Any thoughts Cheers John
  7. Any idea on original colours ? cheers John
  8. Well done to North East Centre riders who took a lot of the top awards in the Kia National Twinshock Championships. A lot of miles and a lot of commitment paid off ! Colin Ward ACM Expert Champion Colin Ward Jnr ACM Clubman Champion Gary Younghusband Historic Spanish Expert Champion Chris Barnett Historic Spanish Clubman runner up Ossy Byers Britshock Clubman runner up Other riders of note, Gary Daykin 4th in Historic Spanish Clubman and Steve Robson who won the last 2 clubman twinshock after injury. A great series, and some great 20 section 2 lap trials - thanks to all for organising and looking forward to next year. I might be a bit biased but a pic of my son Chris - well done mate !
  9. Out of interest does anyone know how many were originally made ? Cheers John
  10. Cheers ! I have the "too many bikes" scenario - but couldn't resist it- price wise (presume you know off ebay !) I thought was good Not actually got it yet, when I have and get sorted I'll stick some pics on. Hopefully as described engine is good, just needs a bit of tinkering ! Cheers John
  11. Thanks for the reply its advertised as a 128cc but unchecked. Ive bought on a bit of a risk unseen and was wondering about road registred, but to be honest was a cheap bike. bit of tinkering and my son will probably try it out in a couple of easy trials cheers John
  12. Just bought this and waiting to pick it up ! Any comments thoughts or advice appreciated Cheers John
  13. Some photos of that will help - need to check with verniers tomorrow but looks 70mm Cheers John
  14. I've bought a Whitehawk 200 Barrel, head and piston to fit to my TY175 Couple of questions..... 1 - What Piston was used ? Piston looks OK but has blown past the rings a little - could do with a new one if I can find one. 2 - Any mods advised to Carb or Airbox (Currently running standard both) Any other advice appreciated cheers John
  15. Hi there I did contemplate an aluminium airbox with a beta style filter , but favours at work to make it are a little thin at the moment so maybe later. A lot of bantams I see have the foam filter so decided to go with that. It does sound like it sucks a lot of air when you open the throttle but runs ok. Originally I planned 40mm ducting to take the filter up under the seat (hence the cut out in side panel) but the ducting was just not strong enough. I've ordered a bultaco Sherpa filter today with a cranked inlet hose which should tuck it further in. Thanks for all comments ! And Deryk, I've told Chris he needs to keep an eye out ! Cheers John
  16. Oh, forgot it was electrex world ignition !
  17. Hi there The silencer wad an ebay purchase. Not sure what it was off but was almost brand new. Volume of the silencer was the same as a friend of mines who I measured, so I has the inlet modified to take the bantam front pipe which i had angled to suit.Sounds nice and seems to run well. Cheers John
  18. Hi there I just coudnt get it to run right with the amal so tried the mikuni. I had added a spacer between the barrel and carb so that may have made it run better anyway. Once Ive tried it,I may put the amal back on to see hoe it goes thanks for tne comments cheers John
  19. Thanks Deryk ! Im no photographerso thanks for the advice ! Yes its for Chris as his pre65 ride hes doing really well on the twinshocks, this engine came up so decided to buikd a competitive bike for him whilst hopefully keeping it as true to pre 65 as posdible cheers John
  20. Just completed a bantam new build. Started with a 4 speed engine and heavyweight forks bought cheap off a lad at work. Frame kit from progressive classics, bantam hubs with new akront rims, everything else new or newly manufactured. Was it cheap ? Probably about £2500 without all of my dads labour or many "guvvys" from work but I think worth it and looks good. First try out tomorrow . Any opinions ? Cheers John
  21. Hi there I want to paint my sons TY175 rhs engine casing black - what's the best option for durabity and longevity ? Powder costing ? Cheers John
  22. I fitted 2006 plastics to my 2004 years ago no problem cheers john
  23. Agree with the above I have a tl125 (as well as a few others) and the lack of power is sometimes an advantage. I only ride it now and again but when I do often get good results (first class award in scarborough 3 day last year ). Certainly a good bike to learn on. Cheers John
  24. Hi there At 14 you can ride up to 250cc twinshock - my son who's 14 rides a ty175 (as well as modern) Cheers John
  25. Thanks for the replies - I think the easy one at the minute is clamping a straight edge to the sprocket Old trials fanatic - you're right - engine does look offset, however I'm sure just angle of the photo cheers John
