    Talmag

Has anyone recieved thier entry for this years Talmag Trial.
  2. Hi If you have cub brake plate, Fit a modified cam and lever, made by Ray Small. I fitted them to my cub, much improved braking. Ray's No 023 8069 3183. Good Luck.
  3. Hi Jordi, thanks for the offer, I contacted the publisher they are sending a copy. I will subscribe anyway, I get Classic Racer, Classic Bike, OBM one more wont hurt, though my storage space under the bed may overflow to her side!!!!! Rgds Triton
  4. The tank brace strut is used with alloy/fibreglass petrol tanks to prevent the frame breaking at the swan neck. SM does one that holds just over a pint of oil, this gets rid of the clutter of the oil tank in its original place, I have a steel original oil tank fitted, eventually I will fit an alloy one or oil in brace strut type. I have a SM alloy petrol tank with brace strut(no oil type) I use Triumph cub heavyweight forks, they have only 3inches of travel which is abit hard on the arms/wrists dropping of steep banks etc. I have just dropped my swinging arm off at Ray Small's to have it made longer and slightly wider, also to have rear sprocket spacer fitted and brake plate modified. I am not sure on SSDT eligibility regarding oil in brace mod.
  5. According to Normandy mcc website, Pre 67 A class is for Bikes with Original forks/frame/hubs or Brit made components. B class is for modified pre 67 bikes but in keeping with the spirit of that era!! Can anyone clarify this.
  6. One advantage of using a 13T gearbox sprocket is that it gives more clearance for mud/leaves in that confined space. The previous owner of my cub had to strip the engine down because the gearbox sprocket seal was pushed in by debris causing bad oil leak!! For comparison if you go (a)19x49, 16x58 as per standard trials cub the final ratio in 4th is 9.135. (b)16x48,17x58 as you suggest it will be 10.23 final ratio in 4th. ©19x48, 13x64 as per your other option it will be 12.40 final ratio, bearing in mind all 1st ratio's are the same 16 mainshaft 29 layshaft. then the last option will give the lowest ratio. its hot with this anorak on!!!!!!!
  7. What is the difference between pre67 A and pre67 B class, is (A) for unmodified bikes???
  8. Hi IRC tubed tyres are very difficult to find locally, can I fit a tube to an IRC tubeless tyre????
  9. Apparently its not just the swing arm width, the modified one has extra length very important for mud/leaf clearance, between tyre crown and swingarm cross member.
  10. Hi I have 19T eng sprocket fitted. The timing cover hole I refered to was to allow you to replace the clutch cable (not for wiring) without removing complete timing cover, on a previous cub I cut the end triangle off the cover and refitted it with sealant and one screw only. My next mod, cash permitting, is a miller swinging arm, then oil reservoir in tank strut support this will give get rid of the clutter around swingarm to allow more mud clearance. More expense!!!
  11. Stu Have a look in www.howstuffworks.com it may help with your technical descriptions of engines. Look in Auto stuff then search two stroke engines, the site has animated workings of all items that are explained.
  12. If your engine has Distributor type points mechanism it is an early engine the later type have points in the side case, contact breaker cam driven direct off camshaft, not that it matters you can still have fun on any cub! They changed to side points in Aug 62 (start of 63 prod year) from eng No 88347. They also cut clutch cable access hole in timing side outercover at this time, yours may have been already cut.(according to The Tiger Cub Bible) On my cub I have 13tooth gearbox and 64 tooth rear sprockets, this seems to make 2nd gear useable even in tight slippery sections. Enjoy.
  13. Hi, thanks for help so far, more silly questions now!! Which tyre is ok for a wobbler on a cub? Is it worth the extra cash for an IRC or Michelin X11 or will a Pirrelli MT43 be ok, I need all the help I can get grip wise!! Is the width at the tread all the same as clearance is abit tight. Im on a very hard MT13 at the moment, terrain is usually woods mud etc. Rgds
  14. Hi Happy New Year to you all. Can anyone tell me how much extra clearance a Miller Swingingarm gives compared to the standard Cub one. From the rear face of the s/arm crossmember to the front of the rear wheel axle slot measures 13 inches on a standard cub. I rode a trial on Sun but couldn't complete it, due back wheel clogging up . conditions were bad, thick mud and dry leaves. Oh no more expense!!!
  15. Hi My new (to me) trials cub has a rear Pirelli MT13 fitted, What is the difference between that and a MT43 rear tyre. The carburation is not good(mk1 Concentric fitted ), at idle its ok, as I open the throttle it coughs and sometimes stalls as the slide lifts initially, ok at quarter throttle plus. I have 120 main jet and #4 slide fitted needle in centre groove. The plug is very black, my next plan is 110 main jet, #3 slide too richen it up off idle, and weaken it at high power thru the reduced main jet. Any help appreciated. triton
  16. Thanks John I put 75cc in each leg by mistake, its now ok after adding a further 75 to each leg. Though I have yet to try the bike out in anger!! Thks triton.
  17. I have just rebushed and resealed my Heavyweight forks, What oil is best to use for Trials use?? At the moment I have very light aviation shock strut oil,the forks top out with a loud metal noise when I lift the front wheel. thanks triton.
  18. Hi Subira Do have a web Address or phone No for Cub Mods, triton.

    Cub Forks

How do I remove the bottom leg from Cub heavyweight forks, I need to change the seals, do I unscrew the chrome carrier from the leg using c-spanner on one of the 4 serrations or a peg spanner on the inner smaller chromed carrier with 2 holes??? Its a new ( to me) bike and have no manual as yet. Any help appreciated triton
