  1. Throw them away and buy something better, unless you are not going to ride it.
  2. Canceling the trial was absolutely the right decision, when I drove (in my nice warm van) from Dovedale to Hancocks just before 11 the snow was allready laying on the road and the visability was very bad and as I was driving I thought "if the police come by now they will have a field day". Our bikes are, lets face it not really legal for road use. Don't get me wrong I do want road trials to continue and I ride in some myself. I also think that its ridiculous of the law to expect us to fit huge number plates and indicators etc. However when the forecast says that rain is expected, as it did all last week I think all riders should fit lights on there bikes. all new bikes come with lights, now I am sure that someone is going to say that I am wrong but for sure all gas gas and betas come with lights, not strickly road legal lights but lights. As all of you know when it is raining all vehicles in the UK need to have there lights on by law so why do so many of us ignore this? I remember fitting huge lights to my Bultaco years ago and believe me you don't notice having the small lights fitted to a modern bike. Now I am the first person to complain about all the needless Health and Safety crap that is shoved down our throats, BUT The whole point of this is to keep us safe and on the road.
  3. It looks like some of you are now (at last) beginning to realise (and for those of my age, remembering) why we went to stop allowed rules in the first place....For the Observers...
  4. Well I hate to have to disagree with you but Sam Connor did in fact stop on this section, (no. 37) three times, watching the video in the evening confirmed this. Dan Thorpe made the best and completely non stop ride of the top riders.
  5. The S3 Championship has always been run to TSR22B No Stop rules. Its not new for Stratford or any other club that runs a S3 round.
  6. magicals are, I believe, made by Betor! Falcon alloy body are prob. the best but at
  7. Send the stator to west country windings, they will tell you if its any good and repair it if necessary.
  8. They were Factory produced models, 240, 200 and 125.
  9. A compression test is a bit pointless, if you suspect low compression put in a new ring, if you put in a new ring replace the small end bearing at the same time and when you have the barrel off you can check the big end at the same time.

    240+tubeless

Thanks for that. I am giong to use the tubeless front because it matches the rear anodised gold rim but I will put a tube in it, I dont think that the tubeless tyres are still available and they wont be as stickey as a modern Michelin.

What was the final length of the spokes? I have a pair of akront tubeless rims from a 243 and I want to buy spokes for a rebuild using 240 type hubs.
  12. The brake pads have metallic bits in them to make them work when wet. By heating and then rapid cooling the pads with water it will anneal or soften the metallic pieces in the pads. this will make the brakes much sharper. I don't think that it matters if the pads are new or old as long as there is some material left on them, however if the pads are worn out there will not be enough material left to have an effect.
  13. I just insured my new 2010 250 Evo 2t for
  14. Have a go and if you find the going to easy move back up north.
  15. Hi Steve, Fantic UK's Roy Cary had some 125 engines fitted into 80 frames in about 1979 or 1980. these bikes were called the lightweight 125 and were used by their supported schoolboy riders. I am sure that the lightweight would have been available for sale as well but I do not know how many were sold. I do know that a mate of mine bought one second hand from a supported rider and it was a very handy little bike, light on the front end and plenty of grip. looks like you have found a "special". Ron
