    Tl Hi Boy

I think that Mick Whitlock made some of them and possibly Eric Cheney but they were all commissioned my Sammy Miller and made to his specification. Not sure if that is of any help or not!
  2. A lot of the problem is to do with money. How much is a competitive twinshock now? You can pay over
  3. In the UK, Geoff Muston is the man to modify a TL125, he does amazing things with tehm and they ride like a modern bike!
  4. Thanks Robin, I will do that. It's good to know there is one sidecar enthusiast who reads this forum!
  5. Hi Tony, The GasGas TXT and Pro use the same spline as the Beamish but your first port of call should be Crooks-Suzuki.
  6. I had a go in the chair of a friend's outfit when I was at Robregordo 2009 - great fun! I have just acquired my own outfit and am looking for events to ride in the SE of England. I could direct you o a solo trial in my ares every weekend but I have no idea where to find a sidecar trial, I guess it's 'being in the know' isn't it? Can anyone point me in the righty direction?

    Twin

Hi Dixie, A friend of mine in Spain asked me to find him a Triumph Twin and I found him a lovely 350. He wants o slow it down a bit more for trials. It currently has a 20T engine sprocket, 15T gearbox sprocket and a 54T rear sprocket - do you know what yours is running? Any idea if he can fit a smaller engine sprocket or where to get a larger rear sprocket? Cheers, Jim
  8. Oh the power of the internnet - now see what I have started!
  9. Wally has written to me with the following gearbox problem - any dieas? "I have a 1986 TLR200 with shifting problems. When you tap the shifter into first gear the shift arm will drop 90 degrees down from its neutral position. Think of the shift lever pointing at the ground. You then have to manually return the shift lever to the horizontal position. It shifts fine from neutral to 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on. It also shifts fine going down through the gears until you try going from 2nd gear to first, at this point the shifter fill end up pointing vertically at the ground. Any thoughts on the problem?" Cheers.
  10. I have been asked (via my Honda website) if the gold rim wheel from the TLR200 is interchangeable with the TLR200 Reflex forks (33mm). I don't know the answer but thought someone here may. The guy asking is from Germany and his exact question is below: "I have a orginale TLR200 goldwheel 1.40x21 and i will take it into my reflex fork(33mm). I did it, but it is out of the middle. Is it right, that the orginal TLR200 goldwheel is not compatible with the reflex frontwheele? Do you (or anybody else) know the dimension how much the rim is out of the middle by the goldwheele? I ask this, because i will take in a few times an orginal TLR200 front fork(35mm) and than it would be the same problem with the reflex front wheel in the 35mm fork!" Does anyone know the answer? Cheers, Jim
  11. You will find that the 'F' in the frame number standst for 'frame' you may well find an 'e' on the engine number (for engine) but it doesn't always follow. Mind if I use your photo for the RTL galerry on http://www.honda-trials.com ? Cheers, Jim
  12. Thank you all for your advice and suggestions, I am hoping that a previous owner or the builder will be able to give a definitive answer in the near future. In the meantime, I will contemplate the merits or otherwise of this project while sipping Mojitas in Cuba for a couple of weeks - that should do it!
  13. A guy has written in to me via the honda-trials.com website asking if anyone knows anything about this bike, I think this is a much bigger forum for such a question - so, does anyone know any more info about it? It has a Montesa tank/seat unit, XL250 motor and Aprilia front end. He was told the frame was a 'Mill's' it is nickel plated and nicely welded/brazed - anyone shed any other light? Thanks in advance for your help!
  14. It is definitely a thing of beauty, I think it was at Telford too. I even had a bid myself but my ring went when it shot over
  15. Thank you all for your help, I think it seeems the consensus is that it's a Steve Wilson! Cheers, Jim
  16. Nobody else made the Beamish frame Big John. You are right ahbout the owner by the way - I think he is trying to research the history as far as I understand it. Cheers, Jim
  17. Hi Big John, I see the similarity with a Whitlock frame but look at the welding by the rear shock mount - that is not quality work and Mick Whitlock usually brazed rather than welded and to a high standard. I will stand corrected if anyone knows better but I don't think that is his work. Will we see you at Telford this weekend? Look me up, I will be on the Beamish stand in the main hall. Cheers, Jim
  18. I have a friend in Spain who has a rather special Montesa 349 (see photos below). He would like to know who made the frame, he has a feeling it was an English made item but knows nothing else about it - can anyone shed any light on it?
  19. You will fine one absolutely fee of charge in .pdf format on my new website: http://www.honda-trials.com/_sgg/m7m3_1.htm Hope it helps you out, if you have anything to contribute that may help other owners, it would be gratefully received and published. info@honda-trials.com
  20. That will be interesting Mike, let's hope there's some information on hand but it would still be interesting to hear from someone who has actually built one and trialed it.
  21. I thought Ebay were hot on that sort of thing?
  22. It goes with the subject Mike, like when I post for Worthing Club.
  23. I have heard of the replica RS frame (Mick Whitlock?) and the new TL Highboy frame (Miller?) but don't remember seeing any feedback on them from owners, presumably some have been sold? How do they ride/compare with the original? Is there any information on them around, what engine they take, material the frame is made of etc.? And finally, where can you get one?
