  1. looks a good project, first rode one in late 70's - i've got a good 247 tank seat unit which i plan to take a mould off at some stage so i can make a 'new' replacement one, got 348 and 349 ones too but it's all a work in progress when i get time

    good luck keep us posted

  2. How can i get a bit more oompf from my fantic 245. Exhaust is cleaned through, engine decoked etc. Still it is sluggish.

    many thanks and merry christmas!

check the obvious, everything clean, fresh fuel, timing, plug gap etc

check your compression, if it's down a set of piston rings can often invigourate a tired engine

  3. i'm making moulds for Montesa 348 and 349 tank/seat units at the moment and have sprayed both original tanks with regular car 2 pack paint to take the mould off, any decent body repair shop should be able to cope with fibreglass bits

or are you looking for someone who sprays fibreglass gelcoat ?

  4. any trials broadcasts are good news, can't help thinking tho - radio invented 1920 - internet video streaming/broadcasting available from a standard PC webcam and interviews can be saved or even mixed with clips of the rider in action over the interviews, just a thought

any more DVD's due - Ryan Young DVD's best i've ever seen

  5. i doubt it's crank seal, there'd be a definite loss of power and it wouldn't have picked up better - what oil do you use and to what ratio, make sure airways and air filter are clean and clear and check the choke isnt sticking open or partially open

    just my thoughts

  6. interesting engineering problem

couple of thoughts - two foot brake levers one slightly longer, inboard and slightly above a shorter lever, foot could apply each individually or both at once with slight rocking of the foot to exert different pressures on each, two stock master cylinders together, shorten one lever - off the shelf stuff easy to prototype

i knew an old bultaco with a thumb operated decompression lever underneath the throttle, thumb rear brake, first finger front brake so three fingers hanging on

    just my thoughts

  7. i dunno what's in his head but i have to say Cabestany and Fajardo were really strong too which might also be affecting him - sometimes it's the smallest move that gives others the edge, Bou is still in a class of his own but it's for the others to catch up

the new Ossa is looking good and is worth the wait despite early disappontments, i'll give it a year of development before thinking of getting one but i'm tempted

on another thread why do you think the UK riders are not fairing so well, they are talented young guys but seem to crumble at the indoor events

all makes it intersting for us though

    just my opinion tony

  8. hi - i got a sherco 290 after many years away from trials an i love it - sure it will punish you if you don't give it respect but your previous experience will serve you well - go for it, the 290 is a glorious bike, gentle when you need it and a beast when there's a mountain to climb

    cheers

    tony

  9. mine's done it, they all do it, they seem to kink and then go no further, enjoy this classic trials bike, evidently the only bike suzuki have allowed someone else to make and still carry the suzuki brand (so the story goes)

  10. good honing is essential, it creates cris-cross scores and where each line crosses oil collects and is a good thing

just be careful glaze busting as you can remove quite a bit if you do it too long, enough to create scores

    just my 2p worth tony

  11. check your carb floats don't have any fuel in them, they can crack and let fuel in and then don't float as well

most likely piece of dirt on float valve seat or valve seat has hardened so doesn't seal

fuel overflowing into cylinder would make it a pig to start

    good luck

  12. translated

Press Ossa: Jeroni Fajardo will not be present indoors to Chambery and Strasbourg.

280TR la Ossa was to make his first laps in competition with Jeroni Fajardo indoors at Chambery and Strasbourg organized by Bernard Estripeau. The director of Ossa Joan Gurt and team sports manager Marc Colomer agreed this week to shift in late January the appearance of the bike in competition.

Released December 31, 2010 of its previous obligations Jeroni Fajardo did not have time to take its brands on the official motorcycle itself has not yet received all the technical developments planned by the engineers of the mark for the competition high level.

Ossa apologized to organizers and spectators of these events and gives you already go to trial on the passionate French leg of the World Championship Trials Indoor Marseille.

  13. whilst the timing of the announcement is unacceptable, bad PR and lets down the dealerships it would be worse for them to release a bike thats not ready yet - ask yourself would you release a brand new design if it wasn't ready ? we've seen the bikes working so we know they work and they have been more innovative than any other recent manufacturer

call it a glitch but i'm still looking forward to seeing them in action, it'll take a year or so to really sort them out even when they are released

see you all at sheffield sat

  14. i have an 02 Sherco 290 and love it, sure you need to treat it with respect but it can be as gentle as it is fierce, it's all down to getting to know it

there are ways to soften the engine a little i.e. thicker head gaskets or retarding the ignition which is well documented somewhere on a usa sherco site

ride to your ability and aim to improve each time rather than looking at what others do and don't be a fraid to ask questions even if you think they are stupid ones, better to ask a question you think is stupid than make stupid mistakes all the time

    and enjoy it
