  1. Thanks for replies, I have been offered a 200 kit that fits into the standard crankcase mouth, I did a quick bit of calcualtion and I thought the same, it wont get up to a full 200 with the standard crankcase mouth, I know when shirty did the 200 he machined the crankcase mouth, that was not done for the fun of it, I will go with my plan of a +2mm overbore, all I need now is a supplier of a good quality piston, I thought I had found one but only to be told that the piston I was going to buy (for a DT175MX) was not the same as a TY175 piston, so the route I am going to go is the big bore, boysen reeds, skim head (I have also read that the DT175MX uses a thinner head gasket for more compression), and electronic ignition, I would then look to putting a 24mm flat slide OKO carb on in the near future, I am hoping this will be a good combination to keep or improve the bottom end at least as much as the mid and top end

  2. Thanks for replies,

First to feet up fun, that really is a lot of work to get it up to 205cc, I take it with using a Gs1000 liner you then have to machine in (somehow and I don't know how) all the ports, ok I suppose if you have the tools to do the job plus the knowledge and skill, I think the 200 kits I have been offered fit into a standard crankcase mouth so assume it's just a real big boring job and piston (which makes it expensive for what you get) this would then leave a very thin liner and compromise reliability.

I am thinking like you Andy T that I can just go up to maximum rebore size which will give roughly another 10cc and then fettle bike from there probably electronic ignition and some minor port work (Have you seen the mismatch between the carb manifold and the reed block ?) just clean up ports and tidy things like the reed block, I have some boysen reeds on the way, don't know if this will do owt, I would like to raise the compression a little as well so may get head skimmed as long as it does not ruin the squish band.

Any more TY tips for a new 175 mini majesty owner much appreciated.

  3. Can anyone tell me of their experience with a 200 conversion, I need to know asap, have just bought a majesty and am sending barrel off tomorrow for exchange 200 barrel and piston, I am told (by someone with experience with ty,s) that the 200 kit can cause problems because of thin liner that sometimes cracks, I do want the extra cubes (and my 175 piston and barrel are worn) but dont want the thing to blow up or be unreliable.

    Thanks for any help/opinions

  4. Thanks for reply Andy, I have already been in contact with craig from the majesty site, I have just bought my Majesty and it has a bit of piston slap anyway so rather than pay roughly

  5. Can anyone tell me if there is anyone doing the 200 conversion kit for the 175, also is it a worthwhile thing to do to a 175, I have had conflicting reports some say it's good others that it makes bike peaky and less tractable, I know it can depend on how well set up it is.

    Help/pointers much appreciated.

  6. it,s a right scam, I have noticed plastics prices have shot up over last three years, are the manufacturers operating some sort of cartel ? it,s about time someone (I wish I had the funds and the knowhow) set up moulding spurious plastics for all the trials bikes, sure it could be done cheaper and still make a healthy profit ! (they do it for MX bikes so cant be a copyright issue)

  7. It must be available because our secretary has told us that one of rounds clashes with our normal dates for white rose trial, great eh ? ps let me know if still struggling as we have a trial tomorrow can ask our secretary for info or you could mail our website and ask for info, thats www.westleeds.co.uk

  8. sounds favourite to me, I suspect most of rest is near enough so bike would at least run for more than a lap, blocked exhaust will do exactly what bike is doing (have you ever had a gasser with aluminium midddle silencer collapsed) although you should feel a lack of performance if exhaust is blocked.

and while your at it repack the silencer its one thing it breathing in but its also gotta exhail for what it costs it worth doin

  9. might be slightly off topic but here goes, whats all th talk of a 200 as far as I was aware there are two versions of the little scorpas, the 125 and the 175 which I think is either 143cc (nearer a 125 than a 175) or 163cc which is a more (too) expensive version, I have fancied one of these little scorpas for a while and think a 200 would be ideal, anyone with detailed info please put me right on whats available.

    Thanks

  10. Sorry Kinell, we were all away for the three days (friday, sat sun) got back at 10.30 p.m. sun night, for future reference start is cam head road off of kettlewell to hawes road right at top of hill just before you drop down into gayle, also thanks for the support physco, a comment like yours makes all the hard work worthwhile.

P.S. will post results on forum as soon as available

  11. Just over a week to go to the white rose trial, we need more observers, on and off bikes, got most but could do with a few more to avoid having to ask observers to double up, some new land this year, some great new rock sections near to start area good for spectating, anyone who can help us please call Howard on 01132570187 or Penny on 01977648046 . any help much appreciated (we have a lot to do this year)

  12. it is decided on results from your local centre trials you have to finish in the top (dont know the figure) percent of riders a number of times through the season to be moved up to inter then same again to move up to expert. it,s quite difficult to do, anyone who gets to inter never mind expert is a good rider.

sorry rabie just re-read the post and I more or less repeated what you have already said, just trying to help.

  13. The Stan Pitts Yorkshire centre trial scheduled for the first of July has had to be cancelled due to land access problems, dont know any more about the situation but do know times are getting hard for all of our clubs, is it time the ACU amployed some legal help for the clubs ? answers on a postcard to ............ :o

  14. ROSSI WASN'T UNLUCKY HE WAS BEATEN BY A FASTER GUY ON A FASTER BIKE WHO RODE IT LIKE THERE WILL BE NO TOMMOROW.

THE DOCTOR IS A DIETY ON A BIKE BUT THIS AUSSIE KID TOOK THE RACE BY REFUSING TO BE BEAT. BRILLIANT CLOSE RIDING FROM THEM BOTH

only thing I would have to say is I dont think stoner was a faster rider, if he was on the yam I think (my humble opinion) rossi would have beat him, I do think stoner is riding out of his skin and did what he needed to do to win on the duke.

  15. Just a point to consider, I think you will find that rule TSR22A answers all the problems we all have with the stop/no stop debate (sorry if my memory has failed me but cant find my acu handbook), if memory serves me under TSR22A it is a five if you hop sideways without forward motion so all it needs is correct (and brave) observing, dont mind being corrected if I have interpreted it wrong but no bombs unless you have read the rule as it is written in handbook. :hyper:
