These are invaluable pieces of kit, I bought one, a must for Seeley owners! Big John
-
Hi Brian. Took the Seeley out for a play today and it does seem that the kickstart slips a little less once the bike is warmed up. Bike outperforms the rider and I am very pleased with it apart from the kickstart problem. Noticed that it takes a little while to restart when dropped on its side too! Bill

There is a parts manual for the RS range which is the same for the Seeley on Fleybay

After much wanting and lusting after I have finally spent the cash and bought a Seeley honda 200 I now need some help from the Trails central community, first where do you go for spares? second as its going to be used and not an ornament whats the up grades ( it came with big footrests and there is a set of rock shocks on thier way ) and finally does anyone have a manual that I could copy. Thanks in advance P.s. just any information on Seeley's would be great

Bill, i have the workshop manual/parts list for the Seeley motor let me check for you.

Hi. Am looking for a bit of advice on my Seeley kickstart. I have just rebuilt the bike over the last 10 months having bought it from the dreaded ebay. The motor was supposed to have been rebuilt before I got it and this seems to be correct as it runs well and ticks over like a sewing machine. I am pleased with the end result apart from the the kickstart ratchet seems not to be engaging correctly and most times when you kick it will not turn the engine over. No decompressor cable setup is fitted. I have read on other postings here that sadly I will need to pull the motor apart to check / repair the problem. Can anyone tell me what to look out for and is the kickstart shaft assembly the same part as used on the XL185? My engine No is RS200TE - xxxx. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Anybody got a a detail assembly drawings or photos of the internals of a marzocchi front forks. Think I might have a set built up wrong!

Only 25 produced, rare as hens teeth. I wonder how many are still out there , single figures I bet. They are in "Four stroke finale" . I think Big John should lift the mattress sharpish. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/allan-jefferies-hond...=item439b3e0e3a

Hi Warrena, I have seen quite a few genuine side panel covers for TL250 on e-bay USA over the past few years, they still appear from time to time as do fuel tanks and some bits and bobs. I have a TL250 but it's bored out to 305cc and is fitted in a Seeley type frame with a one piece tank seat unit like the Rob Shepherd factory long stroke of 1976 era. That reminds me to post a picture of her in the garage section on here, shes a bit different. Big John (that's Scotland top bit of the UK)

But of course its a genuine Seeley Honda and they don't come cheap anymore, I should have said in my earlier posting, no way is that an original engine number! Set up is marzocchi forks for a start... Big John

Just got me a new project to build. Its a xl185 motor ,bore & stroke are 70x56.4.It has an extrenal oil feed to the cam.Barrel is large finned and shortend slightly to match the stroke. The crank has the same steel bands around the crank as per seeley rs200 ,as does the alternater flywheel.Six speed box.I think the piston is tlr rtl as its kr9 hf1.Will it be any good or will it spin up too quick with the shorter stroke.Frame is Seeley with some sort of alloy seat tank unit. Also disc brake front wheel.Does any one know of any history on the engine or bike.

Hi All, Dragged my dad's RTL250 out the garage. Its been sat there several years and shows it!!! Its been done in Rothman's colours and has a home mades front disc conversion on it. Hopefully all the bits are there to turn it back to standard. Looking to get it up and running so it can be used. Rather spend the money on that than aquiring another twinshock!!!. Looking for any help and advice on spares, restoring, paintjob's etc before I launch into it. Had a Seeley Long long ago before went down the mono yam route then had a rest from trials for too long but getting into it again now. Cheers Steve.

That's it. Seeley Honda Trials, hence the SHT in the frame number, right hand side of headstock. I use Silkolene Pro - 4 normally, some riders use synthetic, matter of choice, but good quality 10W/40 oil is recommended. As they say, oil is cheap, engines are expensive! there should be a dipstick to check level on lower right hand side engine casing, just behind kickstart. Big John
-
Hi John, Its a Seeley 200, but not sure of the model no.
-
Yes, but first is it a Seeley Honda TL200E? If so it's not gearbox oil it's engine oil SAE 10W/40 (1000cc) Big John

I thought it looked like the 125 frame as well, the mountings are the same on both 125 and 200. There was a hi boy locally that had a Seeley motor in it, he sold it I think it went up north. Obviously they are trying to spread the frame through all its possibilities in the current economic mess we are in, not too many 125 donor bikes more 200s out there I would say. When observing at Wye valley road trial there was a bloke on a sorted 125 in std frame, he won his class. I spoke to him he said he tried a hi boy frame back in the day and not impressed, it was a very early one, can't remember his name.

There's a Tlr 200 on there selling at 2500. How did the Seeley stickers have 11 bids and sell for 99p??
-
Hi, i am having some stickers printed for my Seeley and i need a good photo of the Colin Seeley emblem so i can get it right, it's like a long letter S with the C across it in the middle. Any help would be great and i will give the sender a spare set of stickers for thier trouble. Merry hondaChristmas to all!
-
Jim, you are right about the forks.Problem with the Seeley forks was that they used to crack where the spindle went thro' the pinch bolts, so always have a little look around that area.
-
Superb bike Roger, you will be making me jealous soon! Just fitted a replica carb to mine (looks identical to yours), I will let you know how it performs this weekeknd. Someone told me the Seeley had 35mm Marzocchi forks where as the RS had 33mm Showa - is that right? Cheers, Jim
-
Roger, I would think about the carb , My RS runs a treat on the standard carb and i dont think you would gain much from a new one. We held our Trial last Sunday and we had SEVEN Seeleys and TWO RS's not bad eh, and in fact a Seeley rider won the trial on TWO marks lost!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks, schweizmeister. It will be better than me (not hard!). Engine is stroked to 230cc (I think) and plonks nicely! Zarkoff, Forks are standard RS200 and similar (same?) as TL - they are not fantastic, but are on my list of things to sort for Phase 2. Seeley forks are Marzocchi, same as a 200 Fantic (and never look right on a Honda, IMHO). HondaPants, You are shameless! Exhaust sounds great, and the RSC stickers make all the difference, I think. Many thanks for your help. Seat pad was cut out of some thick foam with a modified jig-saw (ground the teeth off a blade - works a treat). I will see what I can do. OKO carb is on the phase 2 list, too. Roger

Hi Paul only offensive, in as much as as some are untrue, If you read the listing carefully the seller states what is original, OK he does not say what is replica, Surely finished bike is no more botched together, than what your replica will be ,true, it is built from Honda parts, some original to an RS,some not. But what parts are you using on your Yamamto replica,a RTL motor,so will your bike not be similar ? I know mine will be ! The hard fact is some RS parts are hard to get.especialy motors. I have previously stated here that the frame is Honda,so is the tank, you seem intent on stating they are not, purely based on a photo,I have had both items in my hands ! And somebody must have taken the chassis plate off,to get the frame painted ? that person was ME, so am I a liar? at least he did not call it an RS250t ? RST250 well that cant be genuine can it ? What should he have called it,it is an RS250t frame ? If you put a RTL motor in a seeley,is the bike no longer a seeley ? As for needing to see a genuine original RS250t,well I only have to go into my workshop As for comparing the headstock, with a Whitlock one, I think you have the bigger headstock one ,dont you ? there is a smaller one that is identical to original. so perhaps thats not the place to look. Mike

Hi, Correct as Woody says the Marzocchi forks were common to Fantic and SWM (at one stage) so springs shouldn't be a problem. The airbox was a fabricated aluminium affair, basically made to suit the Seeley. The outlet was to the offside (to match the carb) and used the rubber boot of a TL125. these appear on e-bay regularly at around
-
Front forks are Fantic 200 amongst others so try Bill Pye for springs, or WES make replacements for 35mm forks so try the usual parts stockists for these. Airbox - pray..... Chances of finding an original are slim, best put a wanted ad on all the internet sites you can think of. There is someone in the Isle of Man who has Seeley parts, name of Quayle I think, someone may know how to get in touch with him.
