October 29, 200421 yr haven't done any tyre changing ever in my life (other than push bikes), but what I do know is Fairy liquid (and all household washing up liquids) are salt based and very corrosive (sp?). What I'm getting at is using this may rust your rims if you don't clean it all off (and how can you do that with the tyre on ). Although I have seen many people suggest using it I wouldn't, I'd use KY or summat HTH, Pat
October 29, 200421 yr why don't you use tyre soap, doesn't corrode, tyre slides on dead easy with it, very cheap. Also a couple of bike straps pulled tight around the tyre helps, so no need for a beader.

October 29, 200421 yr Right - happy with the tyre beader. Went straight up today with a decent compressor behind it. No straps, no messing about. Now - what about sealing yer spokes. What's the best tips. That was the reason I had the tyre off in the first place, as it had a slow puncture, which when put in the bath (wife away ) I could see that about 10 of the spokes were leaking. Stripped it, used kitchen sealant round the tops of the spokes, cleaned rim tape, but still the odd one or two leaking. Don't like the kitchen sealant idea anyway, as I reckon it will go off after a few trials and a bit of knocking about. Anyone any ideas?? And no smarmy Mont owners please By the way I had to cut two inches out of the tyre beader and superglue it back together as Dabster suggested. Works like a dream now. Cheers.

Said he'd read it in The Sun (Boofont) I can assure you in no uncertain terms, Miss, that I am not gay, nor am I homophobic, as your friend and his cheap tabloid newspaper obviously are. However, as you find the avatar offensive, and as I have already been scolded by Yamaha Dude for "borrowing his picture", I shall change it at the earliest possible convenience. For instance, I,m quite a keen fisherman, would a picture of myself holding a large fish be appropriate? . OR, how about a piccy of me in my leather chaps and cap, dancing at the Blue Oyster Club? On a more serious note, I,m still having a problem getting this rear tyre fitted. I lubricated the bead with lashings of "Fairy Liquid" and blew the bugger up to 80psi SCARY!!, and it went on no problem, but as soon as I deflated it to 6/7psi it slipped off again. I think I may have to bite the bullet and take it along to my local motorcycle workshop and have it done by an expert
October 29, 200421 yr I think you are going through the process I have been through a few times, and it can defy logic sometimes. The spokes are not leaking its the rimtape. Best explaination is on Wayne Thais's web pages at shercomoto.com. Bsically make sure the tape is spot on and fill her up with 60psi and leave overnight and the tape is bedded in. i have had a tape leak at low pressure, and the rim I have now is badly welded butit seems to be holding. Have had to get a new tape once or twice. 2 rings the smaller is from top fun and more spongy and elastic the second I bought in spain and has had 2" off, stiffer and popped out as you described, before modification. October 29, 200421 yr I very well known cure for leaking tyres though the spokes is too fit a montesa wheel, fit one and you'll wonder how you ever did without ringing sandiford every weekend for replacement spokes...its starts to get fun after a while! October 30, 200421 yr I don't use a beader, but then I have got a supply of Nitrogen at about 3600 Psi! Just throw about 200 Psi in, just seems to push the side walls out with out any bother Interesting point about Mont wheels though. Is there any draw backs on them?
