  1. Pure class this - Dabster aren't you old enough to know better, and Gas Gas Ben take time to chill out!
  2. Here goes - I attended the SSDT as a young lad from about age 8 - 11, and i used to beg dad every night to go to the paddock to see the riders getting there bikes ready for the next day. So we parked up by the imperial and i cycled down whilst dad chased me - fast forward about 12 years and i competed for the first time and dad followed me round, and came to the paddock on a night to make sure his lad got his bike back in each day, i guess he was just doing what his dad did for him, but this time for me. fast forward to the last couple of years - he never even came to watch, and i managed all on my own, obviously Sandifords must take all the credit!! Now i'm getting to the point - The trial must stay in Fort William, if it moves does the parc ferme run the risk of being just another circus on the trials scene,
  3. When i was driving back after the finish, it was hung up on the gate, by the road side.
  4. Hey i remember being in your lads shoes (about 6 years ago). I entered the first round, rode my nuts off and scored a point. Then rode every round for the next couple of years to some small personal degree of success. So don't give up hope just yet!!
  5. Just been listening to the news re the shutting down of Scotlands petro chemical plant, and apparently people are panic buying, some forecourts are empty of fuel Will this have any direct affect on the SSDT?
  6. try www.cravendmc.moonfruit.com - however there wont be any results on there,

    4rt

Mr Dabster I thought you were a gas gas man? So why would you be interested in 4rt modifications, are you going to the dark side?
  9. I notice that bradford dmc have some numbers for there scott riders, is the entry list / riders numbers available yet?? Sorry if this has been posted and answered before - i have been away for a few weeks

    4rt Rpm

I ride a 4rt so my opinion would be biased? However this year a friend of mine rode the ssdt at the last minute, i.e. the sunday (parade day) before the event. He rode his dads 4rt which was brought up for him by a friend. The bike had not been serviced for at least 2 months, never mind the proper check over for the ssdt. He set off on it on Monday morning, and had no significant bother all week. The bike is still running fine. What more could you ask for out of a trials bike? They are seriously a proper piece of kit!
  11. ah ha my fellow riders, our team has expanded this year, so theres no room in the tub, i'm afraid. Although ive heard that Ashy and his nr 1 team have ordered 2 tubs this year. There may the possibility of some extra entertainment in the "James Lamkin Titty Bar" late on saturday night. Although this has yet to be confirmed - bring your tenners though lads!!!!
  12. I am a big believer of - if its my land i'll do what i want!! but unfortunately this isn't the case. The venue has been closed on a simple planning law - which is operational on any piece of land in the UK - if you don't have planning permission - and Addingham doesn't - then you are restricted to 14 days a year use - even Hawkstone Park has to obey this one or risk instant closure. The Hawkstone Park leaseholders have nightmares over illegal use costing them the venue, as it only takes one legitimate complaint to close them down, using the land illegally could lose it forever - it is a simple planning law applicable to everyone in the country. The best way (in my opinion based on the current law) to support this cause, is for Mr Fothergill to gather as much positive encouragement, ie letters, petitions, copies of results, (positive)newspaper articles (tmx/local paper etc). Internet articles (trials central, Biketrial, trials talk etc) and forward this with an application for the correct planning permission, we could help by contributing towards the cost of an appropraite town and planning consultant to advise Mr Fothergill (and the trials community) the best way forward.
  13. Perhaps the local council would like to see a couple of hundred FULLY ROAD legal trials riders riding up and down Silsden Main Street and also Skipton High Street one Sunday, in an attempt to combat the loss of local practise areas, due to some NIMBY whingers!
  14. He lost to fuji in 04 and they were still on 2 strokes then.
  15. A friend of mine bought the single stitched gearnes and they have lasted him from last years ssdt, until now and are still going strong! A good buy i'd say.
  16. If it was me i'd look at a helmet, you can pick up a reasonable helmet for well under
  17. I never really rode an 05 model, but there is definately a difference between the 06 and 07 bike.
  18. Only last thing, when i was cleaning it in the beck. I think that rider might have been woody hole.
  19. Hi Jamie I have read your posts, and would comment as follows, (note: i attended the test day as a helper/ and recieve support from Sandifords) Yes i'd agree with you in stating that from a safety point of view, the team riders should have had helmets on, however with only each rider having 20 minutes on the bike, it can become really frustrating to both instructor and rider when niether of you can hear what is being said, as a helmet is blocking your hearing. I stood out most of the day and was guilty of riding without a helmet, i appreciate your comment, but note i never attempted any section i thought would pose a danger to myself, and when i did have a go at these sections i wore my helmet. Doug did ride a bike during the day, for quite some time. But also has duty to some of the spectators / sponsors / family and friends to mingle and chat with them. If he didnt ride the bike when you were about, i guess you missed his slot - sorry. Regarding payment of
  20. You rough buggers, why don't you just buy a cheap bead breaker, saves loads of hassle and not to mention a possible injury.
  21. Simplest method is to remove the valve from the mushroom in the rim, and let all the air out, then using a proper bead breaker, sit the wheel on the bead breaker and pop the tyre off the rim. People often use their feet or a vice to try and remove the tyre, but you can end up bending the rear disk or sprocket. I bought my bead breaker from sandifords, but you can pick them up at most dirtbike shops.
  22. na didn't affect my gcse's because i had done them a year before - did bugger up school holidays if i remember, as they were just about to start! regarding walking down the green mile - i've managed to put it back till sometime late next year, however a prenup is being signed allowing me constant access to any motorbike, and sundays are for me and me only!!! with a few saturdays when and where necessary, like one in early May, and one around back end of October.
  23. I've heard a tale something along the lines of: - Boyd was trying to pass somebody and decided to jump a biggish gap with a long drop instead of taking the corner Just to clarify - it was raining hard, and i was riding with my helmet tilted to prevent the rain whacking my eyes (so wasn't looking where i was going) then next thing there was no ground beneath me (if anyone has ever seen where i crashed, there is no way you would try and jump it!) taking the corner was simply not an option.
  24. Yes that was me, not one of my better days!
  25. I thought the bradford club put on a great hard trial, it was a British Championship round, and the expert class was down to the wire, in my opinion Sam Haslam deserved the crown with such a convincing win. No one likes to win or loose a championship over a poxy trial, be it a club chamionship or a world championship. BDMC staged an event, found a true and fair winner, some riders completed both the courses with out loss of time penalties, and the weather was even fine. what more can you want (apart from a few more cleans or in my case a few more three's!!!) Every one can whinge one way or the other but fair play to bdmc - good trial, even if it was hard!
