Handle Bars

Hi All,

I'm trying to choose my next set of Handle Bars....Here's my selection criteria in order of priority...

1. Must be strong...I can't hack these bars that bend after a biggish drop (like Domino and Hebo bars).

2. Must have a a good (low arm pump) bend/shape

3. 7/8" preferred otherwise I'm up for spacers/converters or a new top triple clamp.

7/8" bars I like the look of so far...

The Sherco bars....Low cost, strong...happy with the bend....but I'm bored of the bars :moon:

Jitse....low cost, include a bar pad, lots of colours to choose from.....but I don't know the bend or the strength of these bars? :wall:

Renthal....high cost, supposed to be the best, .....but I don't know the bend or the strength of these bars either? :wall:

So what's your opinion?...and are fatbars unbendable (or very hard to bend)?

Best of balance.

Hi, Same as what you say about the 7/8" bars - bent most brands, solution was the Renthal fat bars with the necessary spacers, haven't had a problem since. Took a bit of getting used to the changed steering characteristics, but not a problem now. :moon:

cheers.

Neo I hope I've beaten Maree to this one.

I couldn't resist asking have you ever fitted Bach Busters to your Handel Bars?

AFAM bars are quite crash resistant as far as 7/8" bars go and nice ergos too.

Pro Taper is the brand I use now,

The model is the SE line (funny enough they are Seven Eighths Dia.) comes with bar pad, I bent one pair after having my bike land upside down onto the bars first from a height of about 5ft. They have a trials bend that comes in HI MID and LO. And are moderately priced, I am currently using the Trials Lo.

Just my opinion

Hi David,

Nope...I'm not keen on Bach Buster :P ...not sure why you ask?

Where do you buy AFAM bars from ...I never heard of them? :o

Also, Can anyone state with confidence that FAT bars are definitely stronger (less likely to bend in a crash) than regular bars?

Best of balance.

I use Geof Arrons Fat bars , Tag makes them and they are quite stout . And it's handle , not handel ...

Glenn

And any bar will bend given enough stress , or would you rather your top clamp break off ?
