Is that CET or GMT? Be careful because even if they do show it, they often get the times wrong.

Hi all,

Well, it was on at 6pm and I watched it.

Once again, a good event ruined for TV by not letting us hear the bikes enough........just a faint whisper of the engines.

Come on TV people.......PLEASE do something about it........and don't bore me with such things as "the ambient arena noise is of the house commentary and has to be masked down" etc.....coz there are plenty directional mics that only need to point in the same direction as the camera does to pick the bikes up and less of anything else.

I firmly believe that better videography and better post editing will make a better, more exciting overall armchair program and will tempt more people to the events the following year.

If other sports can get it right then why not trials?

PS. No offense to Jack Burnicle, I think he did a great effort considering.

20:00 on 21st Jan for an hour, so the TV Schedule says.

I think one of the issues for the coverage is the lighting, I know it makes a great atmosphere in the arena to have the lights down and just the one rider in the spotlight so to speak. But the TV coverage suffers as a result.

I suspect that its been shot by a freelance crew who maybe covered Horse Racing last week, and Snooker the week before, and fancied a bit of overtime (as they'd missed out on getting the work at the Darts), maybe not bad coverage if you haven't seen a trial before.

They don't get very creative, a great camera angle would to be to shoot from the top of the Waterfall section, get a hoist in the arena and get the camera guy up level with the action - how about a helmet cam, sump cam etc

The 'post' always surprises me on the indoor and outdoor, how can such an exciting event be made to appear so dull ? If you were to show this kind of footage to a BBC Exec Producer, for consideration for a slot is it really surprising that they say no ?

The FIM need to think about the Indoor format, it needs work for Telly to encourage sponsors, I'm afraid it looks really dated when compared with MotoGP, WRC and WSB.

It was one guy from Octagon with a hand-held camera.

Having not seen this one yet I can't comment but a lot of last years coverage used too many very tight shots of the bikes and you didn't get a feel for what the guy on it was trying to do. Open out a bit so we can see the bike, rider and section.

Stop moaning about the sheffield trial on eurosport its a 1000 times better than watching darts,bowls,ice skating,or any other crap thats usually on.

Endo actually makes a bloody good point here. We all complain about lack of coverage and then when the coverage does appear what do we do? We complain about the quality of the coverage!

....only when it gets worse.

If we let them get away with it then the coverage will be even worse next year! On the other hand, if we battle with them they might just realize how passionate some folks are about the sport, take another look at it......and give us something better.
