Ossa TR 280i hard to start

Featured Replies

My bike after 1 month run in, still map 11 . But it is better now only 1 or 2 kicks to start ... May be the computer learns themselves

all Ossa's start a little harder when brand new. Once run in, 5 - 10 hours your good. the new P11 EVO 1 map is very good.

I would agree with Borus here, I had some starting issues when running map 12 which were rectified by applying map 13, I also got a nice quicker tickover from 13 as well. The odd occasion that my bike

  • did your dealer set your tick over at 1400 rpm and tps at .6v after loading map 13? this is a new procedure, should only have to be done once, sorry to tell you but your starting issues are not normal

  • It's not user adjustable, your dealer sets both the idle and tps with the diagnostic program. 1400 rpm is a good healthy idle, (you will see) anything less on map 13 and you will have trouble starting

But I do heard there is a new map should be P12

If you havn't remapped your 2012 yet then the new map is called P11 EVO1. If you have this map then yes the next map should be P12 but I havent any info yet. the current map is very good with a good tick over and clean throughout the range. cheers

is there any way to adjust the tickover manually as

i like mine to tickover a bit faster

jsp

Hi jsp,

There is a mechanical stop adjustment at the throttle butterfly that you can use to set the idle/tickover, a small bolt with lock nut.

Bye, PeterB.

Thanks for the info , let try the new map later......... At here many riders (who currently rides other brands ) after tried my ossa.... They alert our bike overall the chassis, shocks, balance....... Are another level against their current bikes..... But they're still think ossa is pricey ! ... What you pay what you get ! i love my ossa !

Cheers mates !

Hi Ossa pilots

Right now there's a start aid. A little battery pack will help to ignite the engine. Less effort and quicker respons. I'm going to install the pack within a few weeks.

The pack was developed for the Ossa Explorer.

sound great ! but i will keep current spec, as everyone wants their bike less weight :icon_salut:

would this help with cold starting ?

as thats really the only time mine is

a pig to start, once warmed up it starts

first kick.

very impressed with the bike in general

I have let 8 guys ride mine , a few more got on it with engine shut off , ALL but 2 had almost the exact same response. "This thing is SO easy to balance on" . The only negative comment was , "the throttle is too easy" , which it took me a couple of rides to get used to as well , it is easy , almost feels like it's not connected to anything. :biggrinsanta:
