Does anyone know what happened to Howard Jackman who rode a 240 Armstrong in the 1984 SSDT? He may have been a works rider.

He was Jim Sandiford's 200 Montesa rider, being regularly placed in the top 10 in the British Champs in the early 80's then he switched to the Armstrong for 1984, riding the 250 alongside Steve Saunders on the 310/320 I think. He was a tidy rider in his day too.

When I started riding in about 1981/1982 in the NW centre, Howard Jackman seemed to be winning everything on a Cota 200.

Looks like a 320 Armstrong in the pics - didn't the 250 have a central exhaust port?

Hi

I think I remember Howard at the very start of his career riding in the early seventies in the North Western Centre,

on a then very old BSA C15T, I seem to recall.

Are we saying that he joined the Army in later years ??
