Featured Replies

i clean mine in petrol.

a lot of members will tell you not to do this with a modern air filter but in my opinion there is nothing better.

Fairy liquid - dry in airing cupboard - re apply with spray filter oil - clean filter every ride

Proper filter cleaner and air dry overnight. Skimp on this and you may get engine wear you don't need. A clean good condition filter is a happy filter. They are cheap so have a couple spares so you always have a celan oiled one ready to go.

To re oil:

50ml of proper filter oil in a plastic bag (one the filter comes in is best) and rub bag to coat the insides of the bag. Drop in a dry claean fliter into the bag and squidge the bag in and around the filter to get good even oil distribution.

When putting the filter back onto the mating surface in the air box use a smear of grease on the mating surfaces. This stops any water creeping past.

I use a filter cleaning kit and it breaks the old oil down really easily.

I think the filter cleaner is paint brush cleaner? Feels like it and smells like it.
