February 3, 20188 yr Looking at purchasing a new rear tyre. I’m new to trials and have realised the bike I’m riding has a tube fitted in the Michelin rear x11 tyre. It’s rounded it edges and looks like it’s previou been turned round but i’ve still got quite a bit of tread. I’m really struggling to get grip on wet ground. Would a fresh tyre make a big difference? Was looking at Pirelli tyres as they’re a lot cheaper (MT 43 ) are they ok or should i pay a bit more for a Michelin. Thanks
February 3, 20188 yr Pay the extra, the mt43 is more a hard wearing trail tyre. Even new, it wouldn't be any better than your well worn mitch.

February 3, 20188 yr IRC recommended for muddy conditions. So as you see, it's a confusing decision, but only consider IRC/Michelin/Dunlop. Check on eBay for best deals. BVM Moto were best last time I looked. As a beginner, are you quite sure you're accurately measuring your tyre pressure? It's a common mistake to run the tyre even slightly too inflated, resulting in less grip.
February 3, 20188 yr I think the Donlop 803 GP is the best value for the money and the Michelin is the top for grip of the two tires I have used. Can't comment on the IRC yet.
February 4, 20188 yr I got a set of MT43's after I had ordered Michelin's (long story) they are quite hard compared to the old Michelin that came off, OK for rough and loamy ground but not getting the same bite on stones/rocks.
