Anyone use a TwinAir replacement air filter on their RT? Did you retain the steel screen? Any comments?

 

I've used TwinAir 4RT filters. They are the same as the Jitsie filter, just different colors. Like the Jitsie, they use an integrated coarse, hard foam on the intake side that acts as a backfire screen. So you use it without the steel screen.

I would keep using the screen.

 

I've haven't run the filter cage in 14 years on a mont, the air filter has never had a cinge on it, let alone caught fire

Bin the cage - currently prefer the apico ones as I find the others start to fall apart on the flanges after a while .

Performance wise can’t tell any difference

On the same note, do people open up the top of the air filter insert at all? 

I run the wide open one as opposed to the snorkel, but i am thinking of making a stainless gauze to go over the top to collect the larger items of detritus.
