Introduce Yourself

Hi there, I would just like to introduce myself,been riding bikes for nearly 30 years, cut my teeth on crossers, then moved onto road bikes, but a mixture of another terrible summer and our draconian laws have made me quit the road scene. With the ok from the wife I have went out and bought a wee montesa cota 311, a bit ruff round the edges butI will get there, I know nothing about trails riding so if there is anybody local on this forum please feel free to contact me, to teach me on this black art. kind regards john..

Hi, I'm a new rider in MD, I live in Frederick and have been riding bike trials for years. Looking for people to ride with and learn from as well. I'm getting ready to buy a bike in the next few weeks, and am trying to decide if I should buy a mid to late 90's bike or if there is any reason I should consider spending more on a newer bike from about 2004 or 2005. Considering I'm an entry level rider will an older bike hold back my progress? Or am I better off with an older bike because I'm sure I'll be dropping it alot while I learn.

I guess I'm one of those "old men on old bikes" I read some people writing here about vintage trials. I've been riding street, enduro, and some MX (a long time ago for MX) for 38 years. Always been interested in trials, never did it. My son bought a '73 TL125 this past summer and that made me buy a '76 TL250. Only rode one event so far, Tucker Ranch in August. We are becoming members of AHRMA Rocky Mountain Region and expect to ride a lot of events next year. We are currently restoring both bikes. Hello everyone! I come from street riding/stunting on sport bikes. Love watching trials, figured i would give it a shot. Seems to be a decent scene just north/east of toronto, luckily i have a cottage out that way. I hear some indoor evens go on in Lindsay ontario over the winter, very cool. Where do i start? Im looking at a few bikes (very hard to find trials bikes in Canada im guessing...) Aprilia Climber 280 1993 and Yamaha TYZ 250 1996 I hear the aprilia is very heavy, may be discouraging for a newb? or are all bikes from this era heavier than normal... if the TYZ is noticeably lighter, id go with that, im used to lightweight flickable bikes...but then again…

Hello all, I've started riding a trials bike (09 Gas Gas TXT Pro 250) this year at age 52 hoping to pick up skills at the very least, enjoy using it as a trail bike, and maybe competing a bit if I like true trials riding. So far I love the friendliness of the bike (low, light) and have not had one hard dump like I've had several of on my enduro. I'm starting to think this may be the safest way to enjoy off road riding.

Hello! I`m a middle(?) aged guy living in Japan, originally from Canada. I`ve been riding for over 25 years, but have never had a go at trials. My current rides are a 2002 Honda VTR250, 1998 Kawasaki KDX220, and a 1969 Honda CB125. I just got my first trials bike, a 1998(?) Beta Techno Basket Case, and am looking forward to riding it once I get it sorted out. Well, I`m off to post in the "Beta Forum" with my first question. Hello everybody, new member here. Located North Derbyshire, England. Not far from Hawks Nest. Am busy restoring the 325 Sherpa I could not afford when I was young(er). I got one about 3 years ago in several boxes and 1 bucket which contained the crank, and a gallon of ...........water. But hey, the barrel was rebored and was complete with new piston and rings. This is going to be easy, isn't it?? Anyway, usual story, work and sleep get in the way and it's taken til now to get on with it. Got the engine together with all new bearings, seals and said rebore. A bit of a job as I'm more used to Jap bikes with circlips and the like to locate bearings not a blowlamp and …

First post of many I hope, this one to say "Hello". Not got a Trials bike yet but activly looking for a first bike (recomendations welcome) As the title says I'm from Yorkshire (Sheffield). Hi there again not haqving to much luck so far finding air box cover for my 310, try to bring this bike back to life after a near death experience from the last two owners, does any one know of one or if there is something that I could make good and use. cheers greg

Hi there all, I have bought a 1990 montesa 310 that I am trying to do up, what I need is a airbox cover, cant get one new. The bike has had 10 years of neglect slowly getting it there. So can anyone help me if you have one of these or can point me in the right direction, the part number on the cover is 3962 11112, I think the 309 was the same. cheers greg
