Hi there, Having grown up in the Yorkshire Dales and had a mis-spent youth on TY80s and Bultaco Sherpas, I've decided to get back on a trials bike. Bought myself a Beta Techno Dougie Replica ('97) last year and thoroughly enjoying riding it. (I know, it's a bit heavy, but then so am I!) My sons have been watching and want to get involved, so I've just bought them a '07 Beta 80 for Christmas (shhhh...they don't know yet!). I'm based between Cheltenham and Worcester and I'm thinking about doing the odd trials now and then to see if I've still got it in me. So if you're in the area (Upton-Upon-Severn, Tewkesbury, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Worcester etc..) and know of some g…

Hi everyone, I watched a dads and lads trial in Northyorkshire last year and thought it looked great fun and thought it would be just the ticket for my two young lads. We've managed to get a couple of shercos to get us going and they seem to be really enjoying it. My aim in 2009 is to learn about the "trials scene" up here in gods country and join the Richmond club so my boys can be intriduced gently into having more fun in the great out doors. I would welcome any guidence on trials as I'm very green! Cheers Barnes

Howdy Gang! I just read Judson's intro here, so it seems I'm not the only new rider along the Front Range. I live near Laramie, just across the state line from Fort Collins. I'm an absolute newbie to trials, and I have yet to attend an event. My introduction to trials was, lets say, rough. A wonderful couple, Will and Jen, from Woodland park brought a couple trials bikes to a weekend gathering of adventure riders in the forest near Buena Vista, Colorado. They welcomed us all to try out the trials bikes, and set up some simple obstacles for us to practice on. After gaining confidence riding over small logs and stumps, I decided I could tackle the "trojan rabbit", a man…

  13. Started by greenlane,

Hi i've bought a 1968 BSA Starfie with 21" front wheel Standard forks new rear shocks and wish to use it on greenlanes. It will be MOTed and i will need to run lights so i'm looking for advice on what to buy alter and bin. I've been told a PVL ignition is too die for but not suitable for running lights, thinking of boyer branson type ignition with a gel battery does anyone have any advice? Also foot pegs, gear change, rear brake folding welding to the frame placement sump guard etc. Which carb and moving the inlet manifold back? I don't want to waste time and money but i would like to get it right. I would be greatful for any advice given thank you Peter

Hi Everyone, My name is Rick and I'm a new user of this forum. i have a Ossa 350Tr Verdi that i have has for 30 years but for the last 20 it has been in boxes in my garage. i'm looking at restoring, i have had the engine out and the protective covering of the crankcase has bubbled up and staring to flake off. I know it will need a complete engine strip down but this is above me. Can anyone advise me of who or where i can get this replaced? thanks Rick

Hi, I'm Tommy from Yorkshire. I used to do a lot of greenlaneing, but had a major 'off' last year, breaking my back, sternum, clavical and a couple of ribs. This ended in a helicopter ride from the moors near Pateley Bridge to Harrogate Hospital. Want to get back to full fitness as I really miss the muddy stuff. So I've bought an old nail Montesa 315. Needs a bit of work doing to it, but hey that's half the fun. My logic being that this will help exercise the muscles I use offroad (Hate gyms). Also not a lot of speed involved when things go wrong, and knowing me they will! Also got a couple of road bikes, a Triumph Sprint ST and a CCM 644 Supermoto. Ride safe gu…

Hello all, I have been lurking on here for a while (I may have had an ID at one time but can't remember) and had abandoned trials for a couple of years. Well I am trying to get back to task. I miss trials and trials people. I am not a strong rider but eagerly look forward to getting bikes for me and my oldest. My youngest already has an Oset 16" and learning to ride. We live in Northern Colorado and will ride a few events with RMTA and WMTA in '09 if we can find a couple bikes at a reasonable price.... lol Take care! -Judson

Been riding trials for about 9 years now and having a grand time . The last 4 or so on a D14 Bantam , I love old British bikes going back to a 69 Triumph that I rode all over the eastern US . The Bantam has been a long term project , with the help of my friend Bob at B&J racing and friends in England I think it has turned out well . Also been working to help promote our twinshock organization ITSA that is growing into a fine bunch of people that truly enjoy trials . Cheers , Bruce

Hello, my name is Staff and I have recently purchased a basket case tl125, I have ridden lots of bikes and owned a fair few in the past but I still have fond memories of my early teenage years riding my mates TL in the local forest. When I got it home I put the engine in the frame and fired it up it didn't sound to bad with no sign of burning oil, however when I drained the oil two teeth came out Which I found after stripping the engine came from the kickstart gear. I have since rebuilt the engine with new parts, however on inspection I have found that the inlet and exhaust valves need replacing and this is where my problem lies. It appears that the original one part cyli…
