Hi all. I'm a new member from the Portland, OR area. I've recently inherited a 1976 Yamaha TY175 from my dad. I rode this bike back in the 80s when I was a teenager and dad used it for years as an "irrigation bike". He's recently turned it over to me and I hauled it to Oregon and am working on getting it running again. It's in pretty good shape and not too far from running again. It really just needs some minor aesthetic work and fuel/carb cleanup. I have some questions about a muffler mount that I want to repair so I'll ask in the Yamaha forum section. Thanks!

Hi All, I'm a new member and first time poster from the UK. Not been riding trials long - since Feb 2017. I've currently got a 2003 Sherco ST125 which has a few problems, but I'll post up more info elsewhere.

Hi All, New here, this is my first time posting on here. I was searching for a Vintage Trials Forum and found you folks. Looking forward to participating. I am 66 years old, retired and in the process of.... I don't know if I would call it restoring, but I am cleaning up, painting, replacing tires, new decals etc. on my 1974 Suzuki RL250. I am the original and only owner of this bike. I never really rode trials but for the first 10 years I had this I did a lot of woods and trail riding, and as my family grew I sort of put it on the back burner for a while. When I wore out my first set of tires I replaced them with full blown knobbies, replaced the thin seat for so…

  8. Following Jim Carnes (UK) lead, I'm now feet up on a Beta in Marin County. Hoping to find the underground trials scene here, learn, ride and compete. Honored to be on this page with all you riders.

Hi folks, Picked up a 2000 Sherco 290 this evening for a very fair price. I have a Husaberg FE550 for green laning and light enduro, but now it's time to actually learn some skills! The Sherco runs reasonably well but has a couple of things that need addressing. One thing I'm wondering about is the revs hanging when I blip the throttle. There's so much conflicting advice online about this but the general consensus seems to be that it indicates a lean condition. I assume this means a lean air/fuel mixture, rather than a lean oil/petrol mixture? I'm new to 2 strokes With a bit of luck this can be addressed with the carb, and doesn't mean I've got leaky crank seal…

  12. Morning everyone, Finally bought my boy his first trials bike, it is his Christmas present! Poor boy has had a helmet, boots and gloves for nigh on six months, has looked at several heaps but finally found what we wanted in budget. So we have brought it home and given it a visual once over, blind leading the blind as far as modern bikes go. My history was a Montesa Cota 247, mooching around our woods and having fun. Right shin to match the kick start! There are cosmetic's to do, swinging arm bearings to replace and fit a kill switch for a newbee. We have also noticed the thermostat has been removed and a multi fit fan fitted. So we have a few questions, mos…

  13. Hello all. Last year I rode dirt for the first time after having ridden road bikes and really got the bug. Mostly just greenlaning but I had so much fun and learned so much. I really enjoyed the change of pace and different challenges coming from a sportbike. Later that year I sold my dirtbike and regretted it. So just the other day recently I purchased a 2004 GasGas TXT 250 pro as my first ever trials bike! Just riding it around my garden a bit and then a little in the woods near me I reignited that spark that started smouldering on my dirtbike. I loved how it felt and being new to 2 strokes added a whole new challenge. Mostly I just want to g…

Hi there, this is Max from downunder, I got my first serious motorbike last January and it's a Beta Evo 250 (in photo below). Started with trials as it was a good way to start something with my young sons (3 and 5) which ride Osets. Still struggling with the fundamentals but loving the good time we're having at the local club.

Hello all. I’m interested in trials riding and am looking at used bikes. I’m 6’6”(198cm) and 230lbs(105kg). 47 yo been riding street bikes since I was 14. I took trials lesson that went ok, but I certainly need practice. wondering if a 1994 Montesa 314r is ok for my first bike. Curious as to what parts situation is for that bike. I have some mechanical aptitude but no interest in fabrication. Guy is asking $2300. Haven’t seen anything but pics so I can’t really tell how solid the bike is. Should I spend more for a newer bike or will this be ok. Thanks
