Intro. Hi, I’ve been into trials for a year and a half, started on an old gasser 250 1999, then bought a 04 Sherco 290 and rebuilt it to ride, but ended up getting a 66 plate Montesa 4RT which I ride regularly, joined SDMCC and ride practice with some great people at Poles Wood in Essex. I’m 52 and still bounce quite well.

Hi Everyone, My buddy just gave me this Trail bike for my son. I think it is a 1984 just by looking at other pics . I live in London Ontario Canada and I cant find anything on these except from over seas. It only has 86.4 kms on it. Its like new. It has been stored away for 20 years. The gas was drained and the air box was turned into a home for several mice. The air filter is missing and I need to find one? It has 403 stamped on the cover. Can anyone tell me if there is a Canadian or American dealer? If I cant find anything, what are they worth? I might have to sell it. Thanks Jerry

Hi everyone. Just bought a 1972/4 247 cota to rebuild. It needs a few parts...piston+rings for a start!!.I need a manual to get started and no doubt there will be other bits I need to find. I would be interested in meeting up with anyone out there who runs one of these bikes. I am in Yaxley near Peterborough and go to watch the trial at Stibbington as a way of getting into trials. Did a bit when I was much younger!! I'm currently building a cz175 trials and will do the Montana as and when. Mike

Hi all I'm Ted, and yesterday my son and me bought this beautiful 1977 Montesa Cota 348. Hope to have a lot of fun with that. Some time ago we bought a 2002 GasGas TXT 280 which has given us a lot of pleasure already. Now we have to divide our attention to two bikes. We also have a restauration project: Bultaco 350 T. The one thing missing is enough free time to work on that... Cheers, Ted

hi all, I used to ride trials from a very young age to when I was 13. mainly rode with Mansfield maun, north debyshire and also ymsa. Went onto motocross for a few years then racing downhill mountain bikes. I had a big crash 5 years ago and smashed one shoulder to bits needing a full reconstruction and 10 weeks ago done the other shoulder now. So 4 operations in the last few weeks and I'm into recovery now and cant risk racing anymore. And we had been talking about starting trials again before the crash so now I cant wait to start again. Will be picking up a 15/16 beta in the next week or so and getting everything ready for when I can start riding again. …

Hello Just joined and just bought a gas gas 125. I am 54 and a complete beginner to trials biking. Does anyone know of a club locally to me? While i have been looking at some you tube vids on technique does anyone know anyone in the area that might do some formal or one-off skills tutoring. Any help appreciated. Cheers everyone.

Hi all, I dare say I was to report before diving straight into the melee. Anyway, name is Nubsey, and have just got a gas gas 125 txt 2000 for the grandson. Spares or repair. Well as we do not already own one it must be repair. Have had a few issues but we are getting there. Also the grandson is hopefully learning something about bikes etc. My trouble is that everything I done was years ago, so no spark was check the points or replace them. Not so anymore. So we are both learning. Still it's nice to see him walking about with a grin glued to his face like a Cheshire Cat. All the best to all Nubsey

hi, Back in the day,(80 s),..I had a mate, who was pretty good on a trials bike,. Entered the six day etc.,..and had good equipment,. I used to go along with him to help out now and again,. And used to have the odd potter around on his bikes. At the time,. I was more into car racing, and used to do auto grass,. But the usual things came along(mortgage /Kids),..and that was that. Now I would like to get back into doing some form of motor(bike),sport,. And would welcome some advice. I am 54,..and would be operating on a very tight budget( kids still at home lol),..I have gone along to watch a couple of local twinshock trials,. And that seemed a good thing for someone li…

Hello My name is Mark, I'm 54 years old and have had bikes in one form or another since I was 12 years old. I bought my first Fantic earlier this year and have been out as an observer for trials on a few occasions, but would now like to have a go myself and am keen to find anyone who might have somewhere to practice and would be happy for me to tag along. I live in Kilburn, near Belper, Derbyshire, but I'm happy to do a bit of travelling.

Hi guys and gals, TC newbie here, English bloke living in NE Thailand. Long time lurker, gleaned lots of tech info over the last couple of years, thought it might be time to join. Sold up and moved here in 2003, brought my containers, workshops and bikes over in 2005. Had road bikes all my adult life (16-56), had a m/c business in the UK from 1988 -2003, and have got into trials bikes the last couple of years. Always liked the look of 70-80's twinshocks and the air cooled mono's. Started off with a Yamilia, Aprilia Climber rolling chassis with an RXZ135S Yamaha air cooled motor bored to 142cc. Soon outgrew that, sold it, and bought a set of 4 (FOUR) Ja…

Hello all, thought i would introduce myself. I'm Alan and have just bought an early Fantic (80cc). Starts and stops but needs quite a lot doing as has been sitting in as shed for 10 plus years. All bearings seem to be away and lots of bits seized. Have never trailed before but used to compete in Land Rovers so hoping it's similar - albeit with more balance required! Looking forward to getting out for a practice sometime or spectating an event. Alan.

Good morning, I joined the site a few years ago and though it was about time I introduced myself. As a 47 year old I am looking at getting my first trials bike, my main concern is transporting it around, I currently have a Volvo V40 1.6. and thinking of having a tow bar fitted and getting a rack. Would the car be ok or do I need something a bit bigger? Also with a rear rack would I need a separate light board for rear lights and VRM? Cheers Richard

Hi Just thought i'd introduce myself, I've bought my soon to be 4 year old son an Oset 12.5r and i'm keen to get him involved in trials. Any idea of the best clubs local to Central Scotland who cater for younger riders. I'm aware of the Bob McGregor academy in Ayrshire but was hoping for something closer. Here's hoping he likes it, because then I can get a bike and join in the fun. Regards Danny
