Hi from sprocket62 - Diss Norfolk. username because I have just bought another trials bantam and it has a 62 tooth rear sprocket, so that's as good-a-name as any. Also that's my e-mail address with yahoo and a dot com on the end...lol Hope to meet some of you members in the future or at trials in the Eastern Centre. Paul C

What a great site this is ! I've just bought my first trials bike - and its what seems a quite well sorted Bantam. Its going to take some getting used to... as I am a complete novice ! I had a little ride around last night, and my novice status would have been completely apparent ? It's such a different riding position - such high bars and the pegs so far back - it's going to take some getting used to. It felt like the steering is largely done through weighting the legs - and the thing is bigger and heavier than I'd realised. Great fun though ! I only have a tiny space I can practice in at home - a small gravel area outs…

Hi, I am embarking on a rebuild of my son's Montesa Cato 247: Engine & Frame number 21M22865,making it manufactured between October 1976 & March 1977. I have a question about the swing arm. The bike is fitted with a standard swing arm but I'd prefer to fit a longer one for trials use. My question is where could I source one or alternaticvely how much longer is a trial SA so I could consider lengthening the standard one. Thanks

Hello everyone, Bought myself a Montesa Cota 247 project yesterday and joined the site today. I've found loads of handy advice already. The bike was being sold as an Ulf Karlson replica but I was dubious about that. It also has the odd distinction of the rear brake and gear levers being on the left. The frame number 21M3454 is 1971 when the brake was on the left and gears on the right. I'm guessing the frame and engine numbers should match. If so this suggests the engine (21M21916) is from a 1976 when the gears were on the left, hence the strange lever set-up. It ain't no Karlson rep. I'll tart her up a bit and ride her anyway. Here she is

Greeting from New Hampshire, USA! I haven't ridden a bike in about 40 Years! I am now 54 and purchased "new to me" a 06' Montesa 4rt, trying to learn to balance etc, haven't fallen yet, nor have I left 1st gear.......previous owner has done an engine oil change....but not the filter, I have the owners manual, however , "if" some one has a change coming up soon, could they make a quick video? I heard mixed things, some say easy, some say not so, I am some what mechanically inclined...Thanks again! Philip

Hi all, I been browsing this forum for info about my -76 Yamaha TY250 for some time now. Today I bought myself a -84 Montesa cota 242 so it was about time I did register myself here. The TY I owned back in the late 70's, early 80's and bought it back last year, so im pretty confident with that bike. I restored it totaly, exept the painting. The Cota 242 I dont know anything about, it runs but seems to need some good care and spares. So I'm pretty surer I need will need some advise from the Montesa part of forum here. My 2 Trial bikes

Hi all, After a period of absence of around 5 years, my little people are starting to grow up now and I've decided its time to get back on the mechanical horse again. For those of you long enough in the tooth to go back that far, I used to be "Kinky Boots" back then I took my kids and my other half to watch their first trial up at the West Leeds club trial at Skyrakes yesterday, and they all loved it. My little boy has already had me marking out a section in the street for him to ride around on his little push bike! Great to be back in the community again.

Hi all, I've been hooked! I hadn't been on a bike for about 30 years but having watched some local club members (Bognor Regis & District MCC - all very friendly and welcoming) I took the plunge, joined the club and got a bike - 2007 Rev 3 270 (perfect choice for a beginners bike!) - Actually it seems quite rideable - I have the extra flywheel weight fitted, and a 10T front sprocket, and there appears to be a spacer between reeds and inlet, which I understand smooths things a little. I guess being 10 years old mellows things a bit as well. I've only done a bit of practice and part of a novice trial (which was a good lesson in falling off and getting back on - but…

Hi all: Just signed up on TrialsCentral! I picked up a 97 Montesa Cota 315r on craigslist the other day. It's in need of some love, but the price was right. Waiting on some dellorto parts to arrive to get the carb running properly, but in the meantime, I'll be practicing my balance on the front lawn. Something clicked for me yesterday and I'm now able to balance the bike for a few minutes with the bars going either direction. I'm really looking forward to enter a local event at the end of May. Looking forward to being on this forum and learning all I can. Thanks very much. D

I'm Geoff from the uk, have a montesa 4rt, I'm new to trials riding, though have ridden a few over the years. I'm feeling my feet and picking up skills slowly in preparation for entering a few novice trials, and sorting through my bike getting it crisp, while learning how it's put together. I have a lot to learn...but look forward to the journey. Thanks for reading my intro.
