Took my grandson to his first trial on Sunday at Drumcarro-East Neuk of Fife Dabbers venue The club should be congratulated on this absolutely fabulous piece of ground, and for their enthusiasm to extend the lap by acquiring further ground which was used for the first time. Well done!

Hi All, I want a bit of advice here for my 10 year old son. He rides a 125 well and wants to compete but was 10 on the 20/4/2012 and born on the 20/4/2002 making him a class C junior according to the ACU handbook. As a Class C junior he can only ride a maximum 80cc bike, only missing the age gap by 3 months. Is this ruling set in stone or can the organisers/chairman of trials events have the final say at their discretion? or will he have to wait until hes 13 to ride a 125... Thanks Nick

Hello, Looking for a trials bike for my son who is 11 years old and 4' 6". I have seen a Beta 50cc 2003 bike for sale but wondered if it may be to small. It is to far away to view and not buy if it is to small. Any advice on size of bike and engine that would be suitable for him is appreciated. He has never ridden a motor bike. If any body knows of a suitable bike for sale let me know. Also looking for another similar sized bike for a friend. thanks Malcolm

Consett Club will be holding the next round of their popular Wednesday Night trial this week on the 18th at Knitsley Mill. Running alongside the main trial will be a kids route. Plan for this week is set up a couple of sections just for the kids, to let the trial get underway. We will then move to the main route and either use the easy route, or a modified version of the easy route. Kids seem to enjoy it as they feel part of the 'main trial', and also get to ride the 'big route' !! Come along - 6pm start and the kids can have some fun Apologies if anyone turned up last week when we had to cancel - please keep an eye on TC - we will post if the trial is canceled but l…

We will be running a kids route alongside the main trial tomorrow at Knitsley. The format will be the same as was done at the last trial, where we used the main trial sections, mofified slightly then rode four times and moved onto the next section. Kids really enjoyed it - a great way to spend a Wednesday Evening. For the parents, at the end of the trial the car park is immediately next to an excellent country pub ! Bring the kids along - as usual nothing dangerous and have some fun ! cheers John

  11. Consett club have a trial this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday at Bedburn, Wolsingham (see events). On both days there will be a kids route. The club ran a trial there a few weeks ago and it was excellent for kids right from Osets through to the more experienced kids. Banksides, rivers etc

Consett Club start their popular Wednesday night series this weeek at Knitsley Mill Consett (See Events section). This year we will be introducting a kids route. It is a short lap for the main trial so we will be using the main sections (probably not all of them) but puting in a separate easy route suitable for kids. More than likely we will run it conducted and move the kids along the sections. The venue is excellent (woods & banksides) and the car parking is literally next door to a pub ! 6pm start so come along and the kids will have some fun while riding alongside the 'big trial' cheers John

  13. Why don't the ACU implement a championship like this? They have it in the ladies championship so why not in the youths? I reckon it would boost entries massively, as I know many youth A riders who would love to ride in the British championship, but do not want to ride the full A class route. I know youth A's can ride the B route on a 'no points, no awards' basis, but why not make it an actual championship?

  16. Castleside trials club will be running a kids trial alongside it's main trial this Sunday at Bedburn near Wolsingham. All levels will be cated for from very beginners upover. The routes will also cater for all bikes from Osets up to 125's. There will be plenty of practice time so the kids get confident then we will run a trial. The venue is excellent for kids with plenty of space, rivers etc etc - good traditional trials land for the kids to learn on. Cost is only £5, for that the kids get some practice, a trial, then as much practice after the trial as they want. Bring them along and have some fun cheers John

Hi, I'm just starting my 7 year old lad in trials, bought him a Beta 50, joined a club/practice area and we've had several outings now and i've just let him ride the bike, get used to the ground, go up and down a few hills etc but my question is what to do next? Do you just let them go at their own pace? - he's more than happy just riding the bike at the moment Try and get him to ride over more difficult terrain without him realising? Or just set up some small obstacles/sections and get him to try them? I don't want to push him to hard and get to the point where he's not enjoying it Cheers

Consett Trial has been moved to Butsfield this Sunday and as usual we will be running a kids trial alongside the main trial. Everyone from beginners are welcome on the kids course - if need be we will run two routes. We have been doing some more work to put some new sections in - we may even use a new area within Butsfield so kids will have something new. Bring your kids along - everything from Osets to 125's are more than welcome - even if you have never trailled before you can join on the day and have some fun - all for £5 to enter. If you aren't a member of a club in the North East Centre then that is another £5 - but that is for 2012 membership Hopefully see some n…

  20. There will be a kids trial this Friday at Butsfield. This is suitable for all ages and bikes from Osets up to 125's. It's all about fun and learning trials with no pressure, so as long as they can start and stop safely they will manage. There will be half a dozen sections they can practice then have a fun trial of 6 laps. After a break there will be some more sections set out for them to walk, then ride then run another fun trial. Results will be both trials combined All in all a good fun day for the kids and a great way to start trialling. We have done some work on the area at Butsfield we use for the kids, so there is plenty to go at - and they will have a great tim…
