My Sherco did this for a while, when did you last change the gearbox oil, if it was recently changed then do not woory, it will stop. It is likely that you have overfilled it over time as oil clings on to the gears and clutch and so sometimes you can end up with more oil in than expected. Someone else will probably know better but this is probably the problem. However it could be that your bike is leaking water into the gearbox from the water pump which often happens on Sherco's which would raise the level in the gearbox, to check for this drain your oil and see if it is milky. Someone else will probably know best though.

Yep, easy peasy, draining your water first might be a good idea, i am not sure how it gets between the cylinder and the pump on your bike but if you drain it then you will be able to remove the pipe and this the whole case more easily, Dont forget the gear lever and a thin washer just underneath the case which may stick to the oil seal,
Good luck!

Sounds simple enough, I will need to get a dust seal too right? Thanks.
-
Sounds a little too easy!
Thanks though. I will have a bash at it and if the worst should happen then i will have to get someone else to do it. I think that I will completely bleed my clutch aswell as it may have more air in it which could be causing it to drag.
Thanks alot.

I am not saying that you are stupid or anything, but if there is no oil atall then it is possible that you haven't removed the rubber seal itself which sits under the screw down lid on the resevoir. Different types of oil do make a difference to clutch performance.

Hi everybody. This may have been touvhed upon before, but i have not experienced it before so I don't have a clue what to search for.
I have a 2003 rev3 200. The bike is going fine but recently my clutch lever has started weeping some hydraulic oil from a tear in the rubber boot ting which looks to seal the piston. I would like to fix this as stuff like this irratates me loads. I think that it is the standard AJP lever but am not sure, I will chect tomorrow. Is there an o'ring which seals the master cylinder?? To change it where can I get one and how do I change it? Can I just remove the lever and pull the piston out of the cylinder?
Any help would be good. My local dealer does not seem to understand much I say so any other proper names of parts would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!

How did you round the bask plate bolts off?? I thought that the bash plate curved up at the back, thus makin the bolts out of reach, maybe i just haven't ridden enough rocks yet.

Thanks,
That helmet loooks good Andy, Hopefully mine will look as good when I get that sticker kit from you. The brake went in the post this morning.
thanks
-
Right, thanks alot, that sounds like the one for me then!
It looks pretty cool too, I reckon the silver one is the one for me.
Thanks everyone!

They aren't vented but you can vent them although this is not allowed I know afew who have done this. My current helmet is not vented and is not too hot, good point though, thanks.
My local dealer does not do vented helmets for less than 60 quid, neither does BVM.
-
I need a new helmet. I want either a white or silver one, no other colours really as I am getting a sticker kit for it. I am thinking about getting an NZI standard
-
I used to have a disk brake which used mneral oil, you can pick it up from halfords. Don't use Dot oil as it will corrode the seals.
-
Could be the same bike, I aint no expert though!
-
Are you sure that is the easiest way to remove a chain? I never had that much going on to get my chain off.
-
Apparently all the Montes riders now have a set of orange wheels is because their sponsor repsol oils' colour is orange.
I saw a gasser at the colonial with a red anodised swing are and wheels and it looked really cool, I think it was Steve Colleys old bike.

I'm pretty sure it will, I used some similar stuff on my tyre and it worked well, but be prepared for a mess when you take the tyre off though.
Despite this I would reccomend it (especially if your tyre spot fits your tyres as they will have to do half the cleaning up as you will only have to clean it if you turn the tyre round). It stops all those slow punctures you seem to get with low pressure tyres and it lasts ages.
GOOD STUFF, great in push bikes
-
Shouldn't there be a gasket? You mean the metal case right, on all the bikes I have worked on there has been a gasket.
-
If there is no split tink then cut it off and get a new chain but there should be one! Make sure that you put the chain back on the correct way, i.e. closed end of clip facing in direction chain goes.
-
What kind of bike do you ride???
If it isn't a Beta then if you look closely then you will find that both the kickstart and the chain are on the wrong side. Not to mension the water pump and other stuff like that.
What do you use to clean your bike crafty piggy?
Bob
-
WOW it is tidy, mine is nowhere near as clean as that and I thought mine was clean.
-
Are you conna show us a piccy? I like that sort of stuff, and i have nothing else to do except look at ther peoples bikes.
-
I can't believe I missed it, is it on again???
please save me!

I think so, he has been getting better all the time. I am looking forward to seeing the results.

To be honest I wouldn't be worried about this if it has only started doing this after getting a new spring. My bike used to do this until i replaced the chain tensioner block, It could be that your chain tensioner block is worn through to the metal and isn't flowing smoothly. Just keep an eye on the rubber block, if the new spring is too strong it may wear too quickly.

So what are the plans for a sprocket guard. I see you have a spot to mount it, are you gonna make a sprocket guard spperately, I suppose it would be good to be able to whip off to get any crud out.
Looks very impressive though, if you start making them alot of people will want to buy one!
