    What parts are you after?
  2. Dear fellow train spotters!! At last, KT friends who wont get bored or get that glazed look when I talk about these bikes. I have the trick Kt mentioned in the earlier threads, and here's it's spec: I bought a 1000 mile, 1 owner from new KT about 4 years ago, and decided to try classic trials... just because I thought they looked great. I quite liked the bike, although heavy and sluggish, I thought I could improve it..... so... I bought a gollner stripped it, and built 1 good bike from all the nice bits. then had the geometry altered to a modern set up, including altering the rear shocks to a more laid down style, and fitting Falcon alloy shocks. Moved the pegs down and back. fitted Yam mono forks and yokes with the top yoke bar clamps cut off and moved forward. Yam YZ twin leading shoe brake set up, just as powerful as a disc, (cant understand why we never did that back in the day?). Now it handles superbly, although I might try a longer swing arm soon. Engine wise, I bought the last big bore kit from B&J Racing, which was incomplete but we got around it, so its 305cc, then had a reed valve installed to smooth things out at the bottom end.... a massive improvement! so was the keihn carb.... the internals on the exhaust side altered to match the new power characteristics. Used the gollner heavy flywheel and cover extension. calmed it down a little. Its still in development, and I will carry on with it, but as I was billy no mates on this bike, I bought a fantic 240...... now sporting many many mods, including a 307 engine conversion.... now I'm torn between the two as they both are great bikes to ride! Must say many thanks to the people that have helped with the midnight oil, especially Julian Wigg, Jon Bliss, Nigel Birkett, national treasures to any nut who wants to modify/improve any trial bike!
  3. It could be a Julian Wigg modified 348. Something he was doing to them when he owned the shop, and long before the factory brought out the 349...... he always prefered the 348 to the 349.
  4. Hi Midlife crisis..... Im near you in thornton, have an acre of excellent practise ground on the farm next door ( must be the only natural rock outcrop in bucks!) ride a couple of twinshocks including a fantic, would be happy if you want to join me and my three boys for occasional practise session's etc.....

    Kt250 Tank

The footrest position is as follows...... the lowest point is the horizontal line of bottom of the bash plate, looking at the side view, carry that line back to the leading edge of the rear tyre, that is the ideal position for the pivot point of the footrest, you end up with a triangular shape bracket that will need to be BRAZED onto the frame (because of the amount of existing braze on the Gollner frame in that viscinity). This is the place that we used to position the footrest's on the blue Bultaco's back in the day, seems ideal place for foot position and max grip. Sammy miller supplied the footrest mounts. make sure you keep the lowest point of the footrest above the bashplate line. If I could get some hand holding on the subject of posting pic's I would!

Hi guys, have a Gollner KT with an original B&J racing 305cc conversion from 1975, also a reed valve conversion, mods to middle silencer, makes the extra flywheel a neccesity to tame it! Had to move the footrest's as they were way too high on the gollner frame, lots of other mods that have evolved over the 4 years I've owned it, my favorite mod being a '80 YZ490 twin leading hub for the front brake, almost the same power as a disc, superb feel. Love the fact more Kt's are making it back out, been a bit lonley in the classic rounds. will try and post a pic.
  7. The two pictured were KT330 development bikes, destined for production just before Kawasaki pulled the plug on its trial bike manufacture. Some more work was done after this pic to rear suspension, but none made it onto the market. Love my KT, have quite a bit of devolopment on it, would love to post a pic but seem to be having difficulty getting the pic to upload to the site, do I need a higher level of access?
  8. Talon do supply front and rear sprockets, as I supplied my originals as pattern to them! even comes with the spacer required to offset the lack of dishing on the rear. Try again, good luck
  9. anyone notice the airbox on wiggys bike.... handmade carbon fibre, and truly the work of a very talented man!
  10. No point ditching the 'bedframe' as you put it, it's a far better bike than I am rider! You know the feeling more than I, seem to remember beating you on it last time you rode your modern nail, 'bout time you rode your frankentaco soon eh? Nice to see you've seen the light and purchased a V Dub, is it the fast one?
  11. Does anyone know if a 305 engine will fit into a 240 frame? Obviously some mods to exhaust etc will be needed, but are the engine mounts etc the same? Have a 300 engine in at the moment, bit would like the reed valve 305 motor for the smoother bottom end grunt.

    How Rare!

Boggles the mind.... how many old trials bikes are sitting around in garages like this waiting to be un-earthed? Thought I was lucky when I found my kt with 1000 miles on from new.

Tim Wheeler's bike is a bit more than a standard mono with twinshocks!!! Still beat him on my 30yr old KT though.... probably closer to std than his mono. Nice front brake on his bike, a twin leading shoe from an early 'crosser, anyone had any experience with this type pf brake?. Wait till you see what Nic Draper has in the pipeline!!! Based on a mono engine.... V SPECIAL.
  15. Hey Andy, I bow before your superior knowledge!!! Remember though, I was only seventeen....... nobody told me anything unless it was to moan about the tea! Did I ever confess to you that I used to spike your tea with laxative........ supplied by wiggy.......he said it helped both ends of you get in sync!
  16. I rode Vesty's bike many years ago, the power was so soft, as was the suspension! prefered my 325 engine by miles...... wanted that exhaust though!
