  1. :D That Zero looks to be in much better shape than the one that was given to

me... But then again I'm a master tech who loves restoration projects !!!

And I still have to pay for shipping. Oh well my Fantic 240 does run and look new now so I need a new project anyways and beta parts are alot more readily available than old fantic stuff !!! :D

    Glenn another 40something trialer

  2. :wall: OK !!! I searched and found they still make the Trialsmaster jacket !

But list price on their website is $479.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I got the one I used to have from a ladie gym teacher when she went to europe when I was 12 0r 13 years old !!! and she got me a large and I had it long enough to grow into it ! My folks paid her $50.00 for it !!

But now acording to the website they are becoming a fashion statement for the rich and famous hollywood crowd !!!! Well at least some of them have good taste ! I wonder if they know what the trialsmaster logo really represents ?

But then again Steve McQueen was photographed quite frequently in his . Betcha he knew what it was for ...

:D A christmas present for me from me ? B)

  3. The very best riding jacket I ever owned , whether trials riding or enduro's or comutting on a street bike !!

Do they still make the heavy black waxed cotton trials master Jacket ?

My first , last and only one was stolen out of a 66 mustang i used to have.

And after 15 years or so of almost daily use it only had one repair on it and was still prety much waterproof !

    I want a new one !

    any info greatly apriciated...

    Glenn :D:D

  4. Lane; I would have to agree , some of my best freinds from the years I

lived in socal were LEGAL imagrants , That respected the laws and the

freedom afforded them here ... The rest I had to tolarate when I lived

near Indio for a while ( did my senior year in high school there )

Were Quite a culture shock for a kid from conneticut via Glendora !!!!

Oh well ... REspect our laws and society or go home to the corrupt

country you fled for a better life !!!!

    Glenn

    END OF MY RANT !#!#!$$!!

  5. :D And just imagine what would of happened to illegal imagrants

in any other country than the U.S.A if they tried to protest the law of the

land or change the main spoken langage . I'm sure you socal guys have heard the horror stories of the mexican jails all your life ... Go to mexico and protest !!! I'll bet even the mexicans wouldn't do that !

Land of the free !!! Gotta love it !!

  6. Not riding a trials bike for almost 30 years before I happened across my 240 ,

And being a old school type of rider , I changed mine from 11/39 to 10/44 and for my slow style it works great. The fantics gearbox ratios are close enough that I wanted to set it up so 2nd and third would be my primary section gears

in twinshock and modern events . But I have found it is a little low for the modern section's . But I still like it where it is !!!!

    Cheers :D

    Glenn

And yes 12/39 was stock ! way to fast for my likes !!!!!!!!

  7. :D Just read the info on the new trik shocks on the NJB website ,

the spherical bearings look to be a great idea !!! I just this weekend took my 240 pro to the bare frame to clean and repaint , replace all the brgs. and brakes etc. I am running two sealed needle brgs in each side of the swingarm w/a zerk fitting installed between them , so the action will be much better than the stock setup. I think with the new brg ended njb Trikshocks I'll be able to get some real good action out of the back of the old fantic !!

Has anyone out there tried the new NJB's ????

    Thanks

    Glenn :D

  8. I was on a german website yesterday that after translation stated that by the end of summer 06 , we should see a 50cc , 80cc , and a 125cc 4stroke !!!!

And that they are tieing up loose ends for a 300cc 4t from suzuki , to be in production by 08 ! :)

So I quess I'll keep riding twinshock events on my trusty 240 and save my pennies for a 4t Fantic.!$$$.

    :)

  9. I seem to remember growing up in New England , competing in my first

trials event in 70 or 71 . That the neta at the time had a enduro/dirtbike

class , then novice , amateur, then expert. And if I remember correctly if you won a certain # of events in your class you were moved up to the next class...

    no sandbagging

    Just foggy memories...

    Glenn :wall:

And it was always technical in those days!!!!

  10. Somthing I've got to ask , cause I don't know !!!

Will the new domino throttle assembly swap with the original one on my 83 240 pro , without changing cable lengths ? I just installed a custom made braided stainless cable and have little if any slack to play with . but my throttl tube is about wore out !!!

  11.

Many years ago (late 70's ) I rode from windy point in palm springs ca.

to the top of the arial tramway in Idlewild ,on a 175 stroker TL125 , under the operating tramcars only to get acosted at the top by the law !! but I did fill up with petrol at my freinds house and ride back to palm springs the same way...

Fun ride though I shouldn't have done it by myself!!!

  12. I'd actually love a new 240 or 300 Pro , I think they would sell all they could make if they bought out a retro bike w/some modern finese...

A rebirth of the twinshocks would be great and inexpensive to do and would get alot more folks on trials bikes, wouldn't be as costly as the currant crop of bikes ...

  13. Thats a fact ! the actual Fantic made Fantic engines are built so

tight , I can't think of anything else that even comes close to their

tolorances, The O.E spec for bore to piston clearanc is one-half of

    one-thousandth !!!! that's almost a press fit for a sleeve !!!

The 240 is the only spec I've got , but I'm sure the 300's were just as

tite... Hence the chromium plated liner

  14. :D I found by chance , that plastic coat spray enamal #347 fire red

matches perfectly to the unfaded places left on my 83 240 , and it is cheap !!!

With a little scotch brite and comet prep work you can't even see the blend !

But now that mine runs again , engine comes out and she get's new swingarm bearings and brake shoes and the upper shock mounts welded where they are starting to crack from my extra girth.... and modern footpegs a little further back and maybe a 26mm mikuni still thinking about that....

But I still want a new source coil for my ign. cause she runs but her spark is nothing to call mom and tell her about. Should I drain hole the case ? Cause every time I take it apart there is some serious corrosion going on in there !!! This time it is tight enough that it holds air presure blown in the vent pipe and all internals got a spray with WD40 before the cover went on ..

Boy I wish the ign. on these was in a oil bath like some other bikes...

Rusty flywheels are a pain in the a** ...But it was good to ride her again for a bit..............
