  1. Mine is almost new and the rad mount has snapped so you might want to have a look at that. Ditto the linkage bearings and tophats, all mine were mullered.
  2. I think a beginners guide is an excellent idea. I've only just started myself and it can be a bit daunting if you don't know people who have been doing it for years. Things like: A guide to what obstacles require what gear. Tyre pressures. How to attack obstacles and not fall off. Confidence. Overcoming fear and unfamiliarity of terrain. How the marking system works. Reading course markers. Types of rules (no stop etc...) Where to ride. The importance of being an observer. I have been riding road bikes for 20 years now and this trials thing is like starting from scratch, the more people are actively taking part, the more clout we will have when the Fun Gestapo try and eradicate us. Encouraging noobs is vital. I'll volunteer to write stuff as I learn it myself if that's any use to you.
  3. Yep, the Sure Shot. I like it because you just dump the pipe in the bottle and it refills itself, just keep pumping the oil in. Bought it originally when I wanted a convenient way of doing the premix a road legal KX500 (which never actually made it to the road)
  4. http://www.fearing.co.uk/healthcare.htm#drs25 Just used it to dose the 520mm needed for the g/box on my Montesa, took 60 seconds and no spillage. I use it for 2 stroke oil as well because it measures down to 5ml. Unorthodox but handy

    De-wiring A 315r.

All done Just a word to anyone else who might be doing this, it's easy to tuck wires away where they will foul the cooling fan, it's worth doing a tidy job with cable ties. Found that the upper rad mount had broken away from the frame, no big deal I hope.

You're a diamond Bill. Thank you, I'll ferret about now and get those connectors joined up. Thanks again
  7. You going to the next one? Glad you enjoyed it, they're a good bunch down there.

Makes perfect sense. Why do the 2 mini connectors need clipping together? Do they just go together or do I have to creatively engineer a solution? The kill switch wires are the bullet connectors with the rubber insulators right?
  9. Was going to go but I had my first ever trial bike ride at Berko today and I can hardly walk. Might pop by and have look though. Good luck to everyone taking part.

So so much a question, more a confirmation. I've just pulled off all the switchgear and lighting loom from my 315, now I just need to check with someone in the know that the fan circuit is separate from all this. I know I've lost the kill switch for now, no big shakes but losing the fan would be unpleasant to say the least. Ta

    Berco Trial

If I can get all the relevant memberships done in time, then I might be going too. I've not actually ridden either of my trials bikes before (excluding sitting on it going "Broom broom!" in my bedroom) so it'll be wise for me to at least get a bit of practice in to avoid making a total derriere de chien of it.
  12. If it all goes to plan, I'll be going to the beginners day on the 30th. Just spoke to Terry, what a very nice man.
  13. I have an ambulance now to carry my bikes around in and am REALLY keen to get stuck in, just need ANOTHER membership form (lost the last one) so things can get moving again. Any info much appreciated. Z.
  14. I use ACF50 on my road bikes to fend off salt, works well, not cheap though.
  15. All jets blown out with an airline. Made bog all difference, the bike is still loading up and spewing oil and petrol out of the pipe before sputtering to a standstill. Sounds like fuel starvation when the engine dies but it could well be the opposite.
  16. Well, just had it apart (yes at 2am) and it was pretty skanky, lots of green stuff on the brass bits and generally green stuff everywhere else. The prongs that hold the left hand float were a bit off line and stopping the float from rising and falling freely. The needle and needle valve were manky too. Cleaned out the valve with fine wire wool and did the same CAREFULLY with the needle, taking care not to damage the rubber on the end. It now seals beautifully, I can blow down the fuel pipe, tip the carb till the floats drop onto the float valve and it all stops. Looking forward to seeing if it made any difference.
  17. Martin, carb strip is on the cards, it's not been used very much at all from new so maybe it has perished. Chris, about 2 minutes. Doesn't smoke much really. Actually come to think of it, Martin's explanation makes alot of sense, I saw some petrol dripping from somewhere on the carb after it stalled, couldn't see where it was coming from though.
  18. Coming up against a strange problem when running the Climber (just to make sure it still works) in the it starts fine, runs fine, revs ok (hangs a little but I suspect this is the flywheel weight slowing throttle response) but if I leave it to tick over, it loads up and dies, flooding the engine and making it impossible to start. I'm thinking that maybe 5 mins isn't enough to get it properly warmed and that it's just loading up because of that. Any ideas? Plug is brand new by the way, looks the perfect tan colour.
  19. Richy, you're a Basildon Boy too! I was born there but ended up in East London somehow. What's your local ride? Thanks for the Lowestoft info, I'll look into that.
  20. I've decided that it might be a nice diversion to take the Montesa and the Aprilia up to my mate in Stowmarket and spend a few days blatting about a trials park, question being, are there any trials parks in the Stowmarket area that I could join and use occasionally?
  21. I might get the big tank and seat so I can green lane it now and again, lights would be nice.
  22. Chris Appleby are numero uno crank balancers, they can balance stuff that no one else will touch.
  23. I've just bought an entire 2000 loom and lighting kit off eBay for my 2004 Cota 315 and was wondering is anyone knows of any significant differences in the loom or connections. Ta
