Backwards The Way Forwards?
Preston docks now has an endurocross track you can use trials bikes on, looks good but it's not in sections as such, it's a lap (obviously being an endurocross track). Would be good if they set up a proper trials area though.

Is It Only Trials
Motocross is a different world, so is enduro but not to the extent of MX. I found MX was more of a fashion show most of the time, if you didn't have the latest bike with all the shiney bits, the latest kit and the newest alpinestars you wasn't welcome, and if you did you were the competition and nothing more. Very unwelcoming and competitive even at practice days when it was unnecessary. Trials is probably the best Motorsport scene I've ever been involved in, even competitors are friendly and helpful - it's great and its what keeps me interested. Now I'd never bother with MX again, people forget its supposed to be fun and take it far too serious. Disclaimer:- this is my opinion from my experiance, it may be total crap but there you go. Lol.

My 90's Gas Gas Contact250 Project..
How's the project coming on? Is it running now?

My 90's Gas Gas Contact250 Project..
Before adjusting the clutch take the cover back off and make sure the pressure plate is in the correct position. It will only go in 1 way and if its not there you won't get full travel on the leaver- I have done this myself. Lol.

My 90's Gas Gas Contact250 Project..
If your going to remove the exhaust to run it I'd only remove the rear pipe, as said the front pipe creates essential back pressure to stop all your air/fuel going straight out the exhaust port.

What Did You Do To Your Gas Gas Today?
I spent this afternoon making my car bike rack fit on my defender so I could get out tomorrow. Got it all sorted, fitted bike on and strapped down secure with no problem (ish - the handle bar is really close to my rear window). Plugged my light board in to check everything and.......nothing!!!! After a little snooping about I found that my 7 pin isn't actually wired up to anything! So now I have to sort that out before I can go out, that's my Sunday ruined. Lol

My 90's Gas Gas Contact250 Project..
Check the stator and HT lead then. Although your spark appears ok when out and against the frame the spark is only under atmospheric pressure, when under compression the stator may not be producing the power to allow the spark to jump the gap. Like coop650 said I'd watch the vids on YouTube and check the stator windings, I find it hard to believe that the bike is still flooded after all your effort. Let us know how you get on.

My 90's Gas Gas Contact250 Project..
Stator? Might be worth getting the specs and checking the resistance. Id check the reeds before this though, as previously said

Good Cheap Helmet
Just thought I'd let everyone know about my latest purchase. I was in the market for a new helmet and after some hunting around I found these http://www.trialendurodirect.com/products/29_1/2011_GG_JITSIE_GAS_GAS_TRIALS_HELMETS__930.html Now yes they are the 2011 range, doesn't bother me in the slightest! And they have limited colours and sizes, but I like white anyway and they had my size so quite a result for the price I think. The service was also excellent, came very quick and emailed me at every stage of delivery. Hope this is of some use to somebody else.

Atf Or Light Gear Oil?
Thanks for all the posts gents

Gear Fork
Is the fork bent? Might be worth replacing as they are cheap, if the selector has took a hit to break the rivet it may have damaged the fork too, or it may have hit the clutch basket while the engine was running, that's what happened to mine. Is the spring back on like this..... http://www.trialspartsusa.com/diagrams/GasGas_Shift_Claw_Dimensions_b.gif

Atf Or Light Gear Oil?

Atf Or Light Gear Oil?
Hi all. I have a '99 txt 200 and a friend has a 321 of the same year. Currently I am using putoline light gear oil but we can get hold of ATF easily and cheap so was thinking of switching to this. I have done a search put keep finding conflicting information on weather it's best to use ATF. If anyone can advise on the best oil to use it would be appreciated, and if it is ATF is dextron || or dextron ||| the one to go for. Thanks for any Help.

Clutch Basket Nut Torque Settings
Get a helper to put some thick gardening gloves on and hold it tight, better still some welding gauntlets if they're available. I was on my own so had to just struggle and grip it on my own. It's very tempting to lock it up with a screwdriver or pry bar but for gods sake don't. Lol.

Clutch Basket Nut Torque Settings
I asked this question a while back and somebody posted a great link, unfortionatly looking back the link doesn't work anymore. I can remeber the exact figure but I remember I couldn't hold the basket and torque at the same time (torque wrench too long and awquard) so I just tightened it with a 1/2" rachet and its been fine. As said above you will feel when it's there

Frodsham Trials
That's good news Neil. I wanted to go to the event yesterday to watch but forgot all about it until last night. Hoping to do a few trials with them myself this year, just need to get more time on the bike first. Did you get any pics of the day?

First Trials Experience!
Sounds like you had a great first day. Much better than mine which just gave me a list of faults that needed sorting before the 2nd day. Lol Is BUMPY open to the public for practice? And how much is it if it is? Thanks.
