  1. I applied the 'Beta Clutch Fix' (link above) to my SY250. Definitely worth doing. I also changed the oil regularly. Had good results with Castrol ATF I cant recall having any issues with the hydraulics once the nut was repositioned as above.
  2. Try Roberto Weinberg at TopTrial.net. Based in Mijas near Fuengirola.
  3. Post #43 is Dave Moy as well. Recognise the section but haven't got a clue where it is!
  4. Think #46 is Nick Jefferies and #55 is Bernard Codonier from Belgium, Pateley Bridge world round or superstars trial, 81 -82.
  5. Steve rode for Armstrong in 1984 and 5 (I think). The bike has the later decals on it so I'm going for 85. Rider in post #2 is Mark Kemp of the now (very sadly) defunct BVM Trialsport
  6. Sorry to upset anyone but Birks is on a Suzuki at Burrington, a 325 I think, with the red/black colour scheme.. I was stood at the bottom of this section, just the other side of the gentleman on the right. The picture doesnt show high high the climb was and that it was certainly 3rd and maybe even 4th gear with lots of revs. Then this 'hop' over the roots at the top. I remember it as raining most of the day and people getting stuck in the car park but overall a great day out.
  7. Well, the event is now history and I have to say that Toni did a great job in front of around 40,000 people. They had set up a fairly standard indoor hazard of a variety of large steel boxes and triangles. Toni did his stuff back riding over them from various angles, riding on the back wheel and so on. That part of the show finishes with a backwards hope DOWN from some 8 - 10 feet, landing on the back wheel and riding away. It finished with hops over/across etc a somewhat bemused presenter (although clearly rehearsed!). The crowd showed their appreciation with a great fanfare of air horns. All in all a good advert for the sport and Toni came over very well in the interview afterwards. I was also lucky enough to get within touching distance of the bike in the pits and have to say it is everything you expect of a works HRC machine. The engine cases look to be sandcast rather than the production diecastings and the frame looks different in several areas. Oh, and it sounds fantastic (but not that good that I would give up a two-stroke!) Thanks to Toni, Montesa HRC and Monster for making it happen.
  8. Just been announced in this weeks Speedway Star magazine that Toni Bou is part of the pre meeting entertainment for the British Speedway Grand Prix. This is on Saturday June 1st at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff and is backed by Monster Energy - hence the link. With Dougie Lampkin doing similar things with his R*d B*ll videos, this a great chance for trials skills to be showcased before a wider audience (40,000 people are expected to be there). Be interesting to see what he does but I'm just worried the whole scale of the stadium will swamp him.
  9. Results now online: http://www.stratford-upon-avonmcc.org.uk/2013-03-03_rs2_v1.pdf
  10. Suberb route around the Stroud Valley with some interesting sections. Great ride by Wrighty for just a couple of dabs. All I need to do now is practice some more and make my Cotton more in keeping with the other pre-65's - or just buy a Fantic...
  11. I rode at the Varden as well, again on the B route and generally thought it was a very good day out. There were a couple of places that I felt were a bit tight but at the end of the day it was an open to centre trial and was supposed to be harder than the normal club trial. There were a few queues early on but the entry quickly spread out. I paid no attention whatsoever to the A or C routes on the day but the results show that basically the same riders as normal were doing the winning and looking back through previous Varden results, the spread of marks lost was pretty similar to years past. No Stop is certainly easier to observe and heaven help us if we ever have to suffer that absolutely awful OpenFree system they use for the Spanish championship. I only heard one rider moaning on the day, but that was from the one person who seems to moan constantly about everything anyway...
  12. Provisional results for the Colmore Centenary trial (with no apologies for not sorting them into class or route order!!!): Ross Danby 2 1st o/all Sam Haslam 9 2nd o/all Sam Connor 10 3rd o/all James Fry 11 Dan Thorpe 12 Buster Regan 17 Ben Morphett 17 Ricky Wiggins 19 John Cowley 21 Chris Pearson 23 Andy Blackman 25 Mark Hicken 26 Richard Timperley 26 Guy Kendrew 29 Shaun Fox 31 Ben Sprigg 35 Rob Warner 37 Chris Barnfather 40 Simon Welch 41 Tony Colwey 44 Guy Chandler 45 Darren Wasley 46 Henry Bendall 51 Guy Kenyon-Bell 52 Phil Disney 53 Andy Paxton 53 Ross Crosby 54 Lee Wiggins 56 Chris Koch 57 Chris Tett 58 James Lamin 58 Many congratulations to Ross Danby for a stunning performance that has resulted in a Midland Centre winner for a Midland Centre National! Richard Gill will post the complete results on the Stratford website as soon as he has done them - http://www.stratford-upon-avonmcc.org.uk/ Many thanks to everyone who helped organise the event in whatever capacity and particularly to the observes who suffered literally all four seasons in one day.
  13. Here you go - http://www.miniclip.com/games/extreme-trial/en/ Bit of fun if your company is open minded and isnt paranoid about people playing games at lunch time. After all, what else can you do wiith the internet...
  14. Every Alp I know does that regardless of which rear silencer you have. Mine does it even with the standard system and it was much more noticable with a WES. Ive always put it down to an air leak where the exhaust pipe joins the silencer as when Ive sealed it up properly it doesnt do it anywhere near as much. If the bike starts and runs o.k then I personally wouldnt start fiddling with the carb settings. Try here for a manual: http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp
  15. Chips Quarry was indeed the group for rocks but is no longer available to us. Cotstone was the other major group with the hard stuff but is now completely full of land fill... Here we go then- the super high tech scoreboards are back home so here are the top few: Dan Thorpe 7 Ross Danby 10 Sam Haslam 13 Sam Connor 17 Ricky Wiggins 18 Buster Regan 19 Ben Sprigg 22 Ben Wibberley 23 Chris Pearson 24 Guy Chandler 28 Dave Clinkard 29 Tom Nicholas 29 Colin Crease 29 Ian Watts 30 Shaun Fox 33 Phil Disney 33 James Fry 35 Ben Morphett 36 Andy Blackman 39 Dan Farrer 46 Richard Allen 46 Tony Cowley 50 Simon Bird 51 Matthew Jones 53 Phil Ducker 55 Mick Boam 56 John Cowley 56 John Luff 57 Barry Roads 57 James Graham 58 All results are unofficial with no tie breaks decided and subject to Big Rich doing the real results which will hopefully be issued tomorrow. We hope you all enjoyed the day out although once again the weather was a major factor. As the club chairman, I'd like to publicly thank everyone who helped make this event possible including the landowners and observers but especially my fellow club members who have given up literally hundreds of hours of their own time to set out it all up and of course, clear it all up afterwards. Next year marks the 100th anniversary of the event first being run and we are currently making plans to mark the occasion. Records show the event started early in Birmingham and had the lunch stop in Banbury. Today's course looks a bit short in comparison!
