  1. There's a 'mild' map on the disk that a lot of folks favour, that's softer at the bottom but doesn't touch the mid/top that's left as standard. This seemed to work pretty well down here in the ****e and equally on rocky stuff. Its a pretty steady 'clubman' map, and means that starting doesn't become an issue - as it can with some more extreme set ups.

The software is pretty easy to use, to download maps, but I didn't spend a lot of time trying out changes. If you are really keen to get it the way you describe you might be best to PM munch, as he's tried a lot of things out, and knows what does and doesn't work.

The 4RT and I parted company after I struggled round the 3-Day with you boys, thought it was the bike so I bought a Gasser - now its clear its the rider.

  2. Been riding up there on and off (more off than on) for at least 25 years, and I don't remember riding one dry event.

I normally get there on autopilot, but looking at the map - http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=49...p=newsearch.srf

I think its the 1st or 2nd right after the pub heading towards Buckland Common.

Normally good events, always a good opportunity to decoke your motor up there when its wet :D

Maybe not the place to go if you aren't feeling 100%

  3. Anyone know, or got a good picture showing the angle of the rear brake hose where it leaves the rear master? On an 06 Pro.

Been replacing the piston/spring/seal and have set it about 90 degrees but doesn't look just right to me. I'm thinking it needs about 10-15 degrees more down toward the swinging arm, but then it seems to rub the shock spring.

    Any ideas?

  4. Only additional one that might be worth a try is to change the 'S' shape pipe inside the silencer to a straight pipe.

If you get hold of some punched out sheet, then you can make this up for a couple of quid.

  5. Anyone know how long the actuator pin should be in the Mineral Clutch Master Cylinder on a 06 bike.

The pin I had fitted is 20mm, and the clutch drags a bit. Swapped it today with the Front brake pin which comes in at 22.25mm, seems to give more throw and releases the clutch much better. Just want to check that the longer pin isn't 'over driving' the piston in the master and going to cause me a problem later?

  6. I seem to remember going to the Lyme Regis round, en-route to the Lyn Traders. There were a few Fantic 'Young Men' riding in addition to those pictured, Nibs Kellet and Rob Smith to name but two.

Arena Trial, followed by your average night in Lynton on the ale, Lyn Traders National (road trial), a better than average night in Lynton on the ale, thrashing Carthorse and JR at pool, Lyn Club trial to clear the head and a long drive home - it's what weekends were made for.

That might even have been the same year that Orson and the boys put on an Indoor Trial, trouble is it was in the hotel :D

No photos to protect the guilty and the innocent.

  7. This may sound a bit odd, but have you checked you have an idle jet ?

I had the same symptoms couldn't figure it out, spend hours lifting the head checking timing etc etc and then I thought I blow out the card and hey presto I was missing a jet. Unlikely, but worth the 2 mins it takes to check.

From memory I have a 35 idle in.

  8. last time I looked there was a link off there site selling it in France, I couldn`t say if they ship world wide or not though

    Tried it got nowhere

Even more difficult to communicate with the French than the Italians, and never got anywhere with getting bits from Italy either.

Japan is the easiest as I have a mate that travels their nearly every month and he gets one of the adminstrators to do the phoning and ordering.

  9. I had the Master and the Mitani Clutch pack on my old 05 RT. I have to say that the Mitani pack and decent oil makes the biggest difference. If he clutch pack is to wide and drags it doesn't matter what master you put on its going to do the same.

IMHO I don't think you get any more travel out of the bigger master, it just makes the clutch action smoother. If drag is the problem then the clutch has to disengage more cleanly, so you have the steels spinning freely within the friction plates - the Mitani pack has various thickness of friction plate and for whatever reason this works better than the standard set up. I heard that 06 had a change of friction material (its a different part #), but having ridden an 06, I had a better set up.

I notice you have an 06 Repsol - this means an 05 clutch if I'm not mistaken.

  10. SUBIRA you cannot mean my old mate 'Woodsey' surely you are too young to remember that! ??

The very same - not too young to remember, now getting too old!

A few rounds of the Saturday evening T&O events were held down at Hedgerley Park, near Gerrards Cross, keep seeing it from the M40 just north of the M25 junction - from what I remember it wasn't a bad bit of land. SSTC seemed to have the most use of it at the time, I think it was the Farnham Royal lads that managed to get the odd date there. Can't work out what its used for now - no trials or MX there for sometime.

Was the Bultaco before or after Geoff's Beamish days ? Like I said getting too old to remember it all clearly.
