Jase has ridden many trials. British Championship and International Indoors included. Which is where he realised the glitz, glamour, showboating and money was far more attractive than getting muddy in front of one man and his dog! For this I think he should be applauded, and I'm not just saying this as one of his best mates, but as a 100% trials fanatic. Because he took riding a trials bike to the masses and made it cool. Many thought of it as old men in Barbours and Wellys riding through streams.
You can walk through any Motorsport paddock, be it trials, motorcross, superbike, touring cars even F1 and you can bet your bottom dollar most will have heard of, or seen Finny. Not something that can be said of many other trials riders.
John Lampkin and John Shirt Snr both asked me to convince Jase in about '93/'94 to have a crack at the World Rounds as, in their words, "his talent is wasted and he's a potential world champion"
His reply, "If I can earn more doing what I love now, what's the point?"
