  1. Can anyone give me the carb jetting, slide number and needle clip position to set up my rebuilt Fantic 305, as it runs weak at the bottom, when hot pinking and knocking when blipping throttle open quickly. Airscrew is only quarter of a turn out as well. Thanks if anyone cas assist. Ian
  2. hi mick, yes give carby good clean out, shove some thin thin fuse wire down any passageways to clear any blocked debris sometimes you get a bit of hard gritty stuff jammed in. as a general rule airscrew in 1.5 turns out. can you adjust by the tickover thumbscrew on side? get engine hot then alter airscrew when running, so tickover speeds up to a regular beat. presume its on standard jetting etc? no air leaks anywhere? jubilee clips tight? float height correct? needle valve sealing ok? see you soon ian
  3. Hi can anyone shed some light on the definitive jetting for the kehein 28mm carb that is fitted to a 301 engine. Seem to have a bit rich at bottom, but detonation when hot at top end!! Regards, Ian

    305 Motor Swap

Hi, Will a reed valve 305 motor fit straight in a 300 frame? Regards, Ian
  5. Hi it's either RAL 3000 or 3020 as far as I can tell, or fiat racing red! Ian
  6. Hi mick, How u doing? If the motor has been apart, see if bolt that holds clutch basket on is one with a hole drilled through centre. It should have one? If not u can buy a new one or even fit clutch assembly without it! The hole allows oil to flow through. See you soon, Regards, Ian
  7. Hi Simon, Yes it's re vitalised me no end! Do you no what's the best way of getting this bike registered? I have no info regarding it. It's a bit of a hybrid?? Rides ace though, I did brakes before trial on Sunday and it was like going back it time, with cleaning shoes and copper slipping cams etc... Dropped off 3 stone in weight as well, even wife says I look younger!!!!!! Ian
  8. I would suggest you call dealer first see what they say, if no joy give MRS a bell, it's still a warranty issue no matter what anyone says. Shame you have a prob, as the Sherco is a fab bike, never had any issues with gear selection myself, like I said gearbox is about as good as you will get on a trials bike! Ian
  9. Hi, I would call the dealer that you purchased bike from as they should take machine back to have a look at it, Sherco gearboxes are pretty ace to be honest, almost road bike in comparison to a lot of trials bikes! Get on to it tomorrow morning, don't keep riding it as could cause more damage. Ian
  10. I posted earlier about clutch on my 300 being a bit naff, well i've purchased a new cable a week ago and fed it through frame same way as it came off, now i've removed the extender plate that was on engine casing, also re-routed cable completely differently and the affect is brill! bite point a lot more how i like it and lighter + smoother...Result! Just by messing around with cable position, and removing a dodgy mod. tried Rockshocks today, but thought Falcons were better? maybe RS need re-building? Can anyone assist me in what national trials i can ride this bike in? Even missus is amazed at my enthusiasm again, at trials that is..! Regards, Ian
  11. Hmm, suppose your right on the fin fix, on the engine side, I'm looking to make it look a bit smarter, I ride this bike so does not need to look show finish. Just a decent finish is ok! The whole motor needs a spray up, but don't need to strip down as if it int broke, don't fix it! Ian
  12. Great day out, good venue, as always, not been riding much at all, struggled with enthusiasm for years with modern bikes, but have a new lease of life with the twin shock fantic! Only first time I've ridden the fantic, but was most enjoyable with sections spot on for everyone. I suggest more riders dig out an older bike, you can improve them as well, unlike a modern machine, which is more than perfect for most people! Full marks for Peak Classic Trials Club! Regards, Ian
  13. Hi, i'm going to start to tart up my Fantic 300 after the Peak classic trial this weekend, i need to paint up the motor on it, but don't want to strip it to bits. There are different views on stripping paint off spraying etc, but can anyone give me a definitive view on this? How do i get the original paint off? what type of primer do i need, if any? also what type of paint will give me a finish same as or similar to the finish already on it? Incidentally, there are 3 fins broken on barrel, they are in place held by the vibration rubber between the fins, whats best way of re fixing? araldite, or will i have to weld back on and file up? Thanks for anyone help in advance. Regards, Ian
  14. Good answer, but as I'm new to twin shock stuff I'm starting more or less from scratch sussing out how I need the bike to ride. The falcons, I have wound down preload as topping out a lot, the rockshocks seem more trick?? I've rode modern bikes for all my life, but have got a little stale over the years and need a new lease of life on trialing!! I now realise I will not be able to get a 1985 fantic to become something it was never intended to be, but still require a bike that is the best I can make it. Ian
  15. Hi, As title, I have falcon alloy body shocks on fantic 300, but also have acquired a pair of rockshocks, which does the best job? Ian

    300 Clutch

Hi, anyone point me in the direction to get a bit lighter clutch, at lever and general feel? Gp10 oil is one I will use, any other recommendations? Can I clean plates up etc? Regards, Ian
  17. Right, looks like be there or be square, twinshock route here i come...!
