Thats a gorgeous bike, looks original and in good condition. If I were closer I'd snap your hand off at that price......
-
..yep, can't argue with that.
-
200 professional had a 156cc engine.....

Wotcha John - obviously not the only detective on here am I!
Yes, been in touch with Bill and the list is being compiled. All dismantled and ready for the off.....
-
PS...I mentioned one on ebay at the moment in your neck of the woods. Looks really nice and the starting price is

Not an expert, but as a prospective purchaser keeping an eye on the market for the last six months - in the condition you describe...Id go with

....There's an untapped lucrative market out there for Fantic pattern parts - esp items such as tanks, exhausts, sidepanels.....and kickstarts

....and don't think for a minute that one on ebay will remain at

Hard one to call.
Seen them sold between

Some years ago there was an old farmer in our village that was absolutely bollaxed until he had a double hip replacement. Saw him a few weeks afterwards walking down the road with a bale of hay on a pitchfork........
After his operation, me grandad ran the fastest 100 metres of his life in the over 80's class. (sorry - that one was a lie but he was a new man in comparison!)

Jack, its an age thing - us crinklies, wev'e got fat asses that need to sit on something comfy, bad knees that don't bend (and won't straighten when they have bent) and a big beer belly that needs to flop on a big tank when were sat chewing the cud and waiting to go into sections..... you'll find out in 30 years

Cheers Mattylad, just the info I wanted.
We did some research on the internet and found out about the straight through design, but I wondered about the actual size (length / dia) of the perforated tube and the likely effects on performance - hence the query about the WES make, thinking that they would have the optimum size.

Thanks lukeo but I have acquired a Fantic 240 pro, which is being restored to its former glory..........

My son is in the process of fabricating a new silencer for me, and although he has plenty of experience with car, train, bus and tram silencers and could wing it - he doesn't know about two stroke stuff and I want to get it right.
So, Has anyone got a modern (WES type) silencer for the 240 that they have repacked? If so, could you send me a rough drawing of the internals baffle / packing setup so I can obtain a similar performance.
Plus, does fitting a modern non standard silencer entail a carb jetting change etc?

My new project - with a proper seat.....

Eggsackerly. Any of the twinshockers made a perfectly serviceable trail bike.
That was half the fun - road register it - getting out on the bike riding some great trails, bit of road work to the next favourite trials sections then home - all without lumping the bike around on a trailer and filling it up every two minutes.....
And 'road trials' were the business. Exactly as above with the competitive element. How can you do all that (and enjoy it) without a proper seat and decent tank??

Jack
...erm, I know (I was winning awards in the mid 70's) it was a bit of fun!!!
Don't matter now - cos I bought a 240 Fantic (more my era) - woo hoo!
-
Ha, my first 'proper' trials bike in 1973 / 1974?. Will have a look for some pics, but mine had a smaller seat and had a yellow plastic suzuki panel down the moncoque tank. Any more info on these John?

So did I. Honda just never seem to consider these things when building new motors these days - what with all the emissions and noise restrictions imposed on them. Don't know how they get away with it?
Now you mention it, my s2000 does seem a bit raucus around 8000rpm!
-
....Yeah, something they obviously overlooked. Exhaust and silencer design, technology and development has always been Honda's weakpoint...bet they never even considered it when tweaking the required engine characteristics...
-
mmmmm, has to be a p*** take.
Buy a four and a half grand bike, built by the most tecnologically advanced automotive engineering giant in the world and then further developed by the best riders on the planet for two years...
......improved by brazing an egg cup onto the end of the exhaust??
Whatver happened to German engineering...
-
He, he - might just take you up on that. In the meantime, here's a taster of what Ill look like in Lycra......
