  1. Give Edmondsly a try, has everything you'll ever need from novice to expert. pm me if you need anymore info.
  2. Always a good idea to carry your phone. (even though mine drowned yesterday!!) Also lately I've noticed a number of lads who visit the same woods as myself & mates taking to their bikes without trials boots, preferring to wear rigger boots or even trainers, I'm pretty sure if it wasn't for my Boulders my left shin would've been snapped. We all have had our 'offs' & we learn from them (or do we lol) Don't cut corners by not wearing the proper gear.
  3. Ouch indeed !! Yesterday was going well at our local woods, plenty of fun and skill practice until about 2 hours in then OUCH! crossing a burn, up a bank, hopped over a log, no big issue I guess untill the bike decided to head right instead of straight on and I along with machine headed off the narrow track and straight down backwards into the burn landing on my left shoulder and slamming my left leg on a rather large slab of rock.. I guess I only fell about 5ft or so and thankfully narrowly missing that rock but nevertheless I'm suffering big style today At the time myself and my mate were a fair way from the van but I still had to get back with the bike, I managed but in agony and with the help of my mate. I guess the moral of this painful experience is to ride with a mate or group so if this happens then help is at hand. I'm 53 yr old and as the true saying goes... one doesn't bounce as well the older one gets! Ps.. my bike was survived unscathed
  4. I agree with baldilocks 100%, steady away is the best way
  5. Hi Lewis, I believe I saw you today at Edmondsley, we chatted briefly while you and your marra were getting sorted to head into woods about your Monty. I'm often down at Edmondsley so if you guys are free sometime and wa mt some bike time drop me an pm. Cheers Zac

    Evo Fuel

In the UK 3 or 4 of the major forecourts / supermarkets sell their on brand of high octane named differnetly of course, surely high oct is high oct at whatever forecourt you get it, and of course its more expensive than normal unleaded, not so very long ago all 2Ts ran on the same mix as an lawnmower and they went all day with no problems or dramas l Recently Iv been using a Shell garage about 7 miles from where I live as it was the nearest and only one for V Power, Iv had 2 / 3 x 5 ltrs over the past two weeks and the bike has ran like crap !! Im sure that garage doesn't clean its tanks out often enough ( possible water and dirt in them ) and at £7 for 5 litres I aint going back as its cost me hrs of bike time which isn't good All in all though I guess its all trial ( pardon the pun lol ) and error and if it works ... use it

    Evo Fuel

Dan - UK bud..... I guess this a subject that has been banded around for eternity.. High octane vs normal pump juice... I suppose we all want the best juice in our tanks but I wonder if there is really an argument as too which is best, I understand the reasons why we all like the higher oct juice but if you're stuck do we stick normal in or not stay at home lol I had a 2004 / 5 gassa txt pro a couple of yrs back and that ran equally as well on either, absolutely no difference but saying that I think the motor in them was bombproof ! I suppose there's one way to avoid this dilema... go 4T

    Evo Fuel

As a rule Iv always used V Power in my 2 stokes, currently Im running a evo 250 and Shell garages seem to be getting scarce in my local area, any tips on alternative juice, it looks like standard unleaded for my next trip out. All views welcome

    Evo Rear Shock

hi guys, just noticed today that my recently bought secondhand evo 250 seems to be sat low at the back end, I raised the bike up by lifting ) then let go, the back end sank back down again, Iv had the bike for about 2 weeks and been out quiet a bit, the rear shock has never bottomed out at all ( im 16 st ) and can ride it quite hard. Im just wondering if this is the norm ??? Any help would be great
  11. Yes it does Dan Williams, kicks over first time, idle is fine, its a bit flat ( blurts ) when revved hard, under load ( ridden ) its pretty flat and sluggish, smokey either standing or ridden. The only thing I can think of is the carb needs an overhaul, Iv changed fuel, oil, cleaned filter, new plug, adjusted mixture etc. A carb overhaul is beyond my capabilities at the minute so i will wait until next week to catch my local dealer. Im pretty much new to trials so all this is a learning curve for me, I get the basics so all help is a bonus. :}
  12. Maybe my TC posting skills are equally as poor as my mechanical skills ! When one doesn't know... one asks ! Thank you all who have positively replied to all my posts. Very much appreciated.
  13. Well guys Iv found the reason for the water in air box saga, I removed the air filter and low and behold muddy water marks down the rear right side of box, further inspection revealed a hole in box at the top, looks like when drilling bolt seat out to fit cable tie drill bit has popped a hole in said box, sealed hole up so thats sorted, have foam read to fit once I get a new filter next week, I drained carb, cleared plug, fired up first kick but still smokey, reset mixture to 1 1/2 but no change, I guess the next step is to have carb removed, cleaned and set up, thats a job for my local guru once he's back from the SSDT. Oh the joys of trials lol. Thanks guys for all your input and advice.
  14. Hi again, Just as an add on to my post yday re waterproofing my Evo, I have noticed an increased in fuel usage during the past few rides out ( which has mirrored the water ingress ) Could this be due to the water getting to the carb and possibly clogging the choke mech or dirt in jets etc. Once again I ask for your input guys. Ps. i have located a local Aquatic centre that stocks Reticulated form so hopefully that will help water getting into the air box. Any further advice on this would be great
  15. Help needed folks.... Can anyone tell me what the name of the breathable waterproof silicon / foam I need a to seal air box on my Evo as I been out today again and had to drain water from box twice, yes Iv been tootling about in the water / rocks but nothing deep but nevertheless water has yet again found it way in there!! Also where the most likely place I need to seal. The bike has had a new back mudguard fitted prior to me buying it so Im guessing I need to seal around that area too. {top of air box } Thank you in advance once again
  16. Re mixture screw... 1 1/2 turns from home be right? ?
  17. There was about half inch of water in box, the filter was bone dry, as stated I changed the oil ( which looked like it may have had a bit water in ) I fired bike up first kick and let it warm up a while but it still ran a bit smoke, I know a good blast will be better though, I will drain bowl tomorrow and see how tht goes. When the bike is at idle its responsive enough however under load its still a bit flat. I think you are right ( t shock 250 ) re water getting in through the vents.

    Water In Air Box

Hi folks, just a follow up from my last post ( smokey evo 2011 2t ) Iv changed the oil tonight ( was due anyway ) also removed air filter and discovered water laying in bottom of air box, now folks this is where I need educating.... Im I right in saying there is a chance thats there is water in carb?? If so will removing the bowl bolt drain it? Any advice gratefully received once again. Also were is the mixture screw on the carb?? Thanks again
  19. Hi Guys, been out this morning for a couple of hours, after an hour or so I topped up tank and off I went again, after about 10 mins I noticed the bike was smokey ( blue, It wasn't prior to topping up ,so whipped out the plug ( bit oily ) and replaced with a new one I had handy, I gave it a blast along a dirt track a few times but still smoking a bit, I notice the bike was a bit sluggish on pick up too. I realise it could be a mixture issue re the oily plug but any help would be great. Im running V Power fuel with 75ml per 5 Ltrs. Thanks in advance
  20. as stated.... slow down, practice tight turns, get in a stream / burn, ride the rocks, steady away etc, get the feel of the slippery ones, the ones that make you go horizontal lol. Oh and not forgetting the Roots, banks, tight turns around trees... esp on inclines.. enjoy it bud.
  21. Hi Bud, I agree with the two above posts, 4k on your first bike is a bit steep, as said above spend around 1500 on a 05 / 06 bike and take your time, Im 53, just got back into trails after a long lay off and spent 1500 on an a 06 250 bike which is spot on, trails is an excellent sport and you will meet some good people, but like another sport the novelty can wear off quickly...... good luck bud.
