  1. The Mont holds 2.1 litres, it's about 28miles to chairlift in the ssdt, which it does on 1 tank full, even on 3psi in the rear and ridden flat out. It could easily do 60+mpg.

  2. You have the general idea, and a good starting point. It looks to me like you are using more momentum than technique to get over it. Slow the whole move down, literally from a standstill when you start. Your point of contact with your front wheel could do with been lower and that will give more kick from the suspension to catapult you onto the top.

  3. Is there any petrol in it!! Also had similar symptoms, and as jc21 says, it was the fuel pump to harness connector. Double check that plug as the tank can trap or push it at funny angles. Also, is the small grey rubber pipe attatched to the injector as it won't run without that.

  4. Running at 75:1 on a fully synthetic oil will be fine, I think gear box oil is 750ml, we used the Motul transoil in those engines. Give JST Gas Gas a call or any long established gas gas dealer a call

  5. Many riders may have come across Peter in the past 15 years or so in and around the northern area. He was a great lover of the Scottish, The Scott and The Cleveland amongst many other great trials. He was often seen on the road crossings around the course offering drinks, food and plenty of advice.

His larger than life character always had time for anyone and everyone, His booming voice and positive outlook will sadly be missed. He helped many riders out in recent years, giving back to the sport which gave him so much pleasure.

If Andy or anyone has any pics of him to add, that would be great, as many people would have seen him not knowing who he was.

  6. You local bearing/seal stockist will have good quality items at a good price. Get the genuine bushes though, as some aftermarket ones are made of the same cheese as the sump guards. Bearing size 15×21×12 seal size 15×21×3.

  7. Whilst undoing the bottom bolt, pull the stancion away from the fork bottom, This grips the internals allowing it to be undone. You might have to put the fork top back on, i cant remember. May take an extra pair of hands and a vice. When reassembling, put tension back on the damper to nip it back up.

  8. Yea but apparently you use first gear for everything on a 4rt.When compared to a 2 strokes for what i ride u use second or third.

The gearing is not comparable between the 4rt and 2 strokes, torque is everywhere and the gears are long. On std gearing 3rd is quick and is not needed for your average dry section. If you were to attempt a stationary splat in 3rd at full chat on a 4rt, you'd get the forward drive but not the lift. It would be like attempting the same splat in 4th gear on a 2 stroke.

Your friend maybe hadn't mastered the 4rt technique. They love to be at and work well at the top end.

  9. When does power make you a better rider? I have never come across a section in a trial (or practicing) where lack of power hasn't allowed me to do the section. Its lack of skill and not knowing how to use the power correctly.

  10. My personal training programme will involve riding the bike at least once before the event, probably to see if its running ok and to bed a tire in. But Like Baldilocks says, time on the bike is best, although up until 2010ish I'd be on the bike 4 times a week, months in advance, and the event actually never went too well.

Then kids came along, and the bike ends up being another shelf in the garage. Sleepless nights, no practice and general ill preparation seem to work well these days.
