  1. As copemech say's the only way to get the bearing off

properly is to grind it as far through as possible

without damaging the shaft then get a chisel

and give it a good hit in the slot you have just

ground out it will then crack and just pull off.

As for re fitting it just drop it on the steerer

tube and knock it on using a punch it will not be

    to tight to get on.

  2. The forks on your bike are paioli and they are

both filled with oil not air .The left hand leg

has just a spring in it and on the top is the

preload ajuster ,the right leg has the damper unit in

and no spring the ajuster screw on the top ajusts

the compression damping and works on the oil flowing

through the valve. If you phone beta uk they will be

able to tell you the oil quantity for each leg as these

are different! Hope this is of any help.

  3. As previously said the shoei has to be the best

as reguards quality,i have one and it is over ten

years old and is still in excellent condition

    they are as said vented!

i also have a airoh this is a nice lid but i will

have to see if it lasts like the shoei they say

you only get what you pay for.

  4. I have done the carb mod's to my 8 month old 250 and

changed the jets to 27.5 and 145 main, this alone

has made the bike run so much better it has taken

poppy feel right out of it and smoothened it right out,

so much better of the bottom now runs lovely.

  5. The way the weather is looking at the moment it looks

a bit as though it might be a bit snow'y here down

in the midlands looks as though we are in for qite

a lot of so wonder what is going to be like

    up there!

  6. Andybetarev3 it sounds as though it is the stator that has

gone on your bike to me this is a common fault on

earlier beta's tell your mate he wants to send it to

west country windings i have used them myself

and they offer a good service and quick turnaround.

    Abuot

  7. As said before it depends on oil type and quality

i run 90:1 for multi lap events where the bike

never get's a proper clear out and 80:1 on

road trials where you get chance to get it

properly hot .When you ride road trials most

of the time you notice how much better they

    run so much cleaner !

  8. Most of the coolant you buy for bikes now is coolant

as opposed to anti freeze this is ready mixed all you have

to do is pour it in .You have to be carefull with some

of the anti freeze's as they are not to freindly to

the magnesium alloy's used in a lot of motorcycles!

You really need to change it once a year anyway.

  9. Depending on what oil you are using depends on the mix

for good quality semi sinthetic use about 70:1 and for fully sinthetic

about about 80:1 to 100:1 depending on the brand & type.

50:1 is too much oil it will be running oily on that mix

    and never run clean!

  10. When you look at all the bikes they are all so good now

genrally the design of them down to the way they ride

but as a total package they all seem to have

there niggly faults most of which are easily overcome

but for some reason it takes the manufacturers so

long to sort them out, problems that go on year after

year witout being rectified cant understand why

they don't listen to peoples feedback and act on it!

  11. The progressive action on link suspension is done

in the action of the linkages as said on linkless system

it is done internally in the shock which does make them

a lot more expensive to make.

The pro side to linkless suspension really is in the ease

of maintenance no bearings to seize up or wear out

and nothig to get caught on the rocks and damage

like they do on the montesa's always stretching

    and cracking them!

  12. Funny from day one had a 03 250 and you could not park that

facing downhill otherwise it would flood and be a pig to start.

Got an 06 and that does not do it at all park it on any

incline and it makes no difference still starts perfectly.

this is with a carb as it came from beta no mods so

why do some do it and others not,it has to be due to

    quality control on the carbs!

  13. It is quite a lot of effort in the organising of getting there

and the ferry company are a joke with there prices.

But the trial all makes up for this it is that good the

whole way it's all done etc the scenery the gp week

whole place. Was only going to ride the once last year

but it was that good i have to go again!
