  1. Hi Guy's. George, Testing his "John Draper" BSA.
  2. Hi Guy's. Thanks for the photo Pete. Nothing like getting the youngsters involved early on. As you Know? George Prescott (one year three months old), Now owns John Drapers C15/B40. This bike could be at the Classic Show, If George will lend it to me! And It will be at the "Classic Trials Show" 2012, If you guys give me the support to organize the event again?? Check out the "Classic Trials Show" web site. www.classictrialsshow.com. Regards Charlie.
  3. Hi Guy's. I was just reading through some of the paperwork we got with some of our bikes. and have just found out that "Gov 132" was rebuilt at the same time in the same building alongside one of the Ariels we now are proud to own. They were both rebuilt by that dion of "pre 65" motorcycles , ( in fact it was him that coined the fraze) so we have him to blame. Deryk Wylde. I must say that he did a brilliant job restoring our bike to the same specification as when it left the factory with the correct transfers etc. Thinking now, that we are some years down the line, to when people started remembering where there roots were, and showed respect to the Classic Trials machines of the past, by rebuilding them to there former Glory. Should we now not make more of an effort in keeping these machines alive by doing the same, and returning more of the British Trials bikes of the past to there former "Glory"???? :icon_salut: Regards Charlie. PS, did we ever find the True GOV132???
  4. Hi Guy's. Hi Dale. Yes that bike looks a lot like the "British Rival"! I will see if I can get the bike out of the insulated store that it is in, and take a few pictures for you. Very intresting bikes, the small production, or one off ones, don't you think? Regards Charlie.
  5. Hi Guy's. Pictures of Mick riding it ONE handed while testing the sections for The Classic Trials Show, are on that site. Nice little bike!! Regards Charlie.
  6. Hi Guy's. Hi Jon. All of them yes but you will need to swop the outer cases as well, Kickstart ETC. Regards Charlie.
  7. Hi Guy's. Hi OTF. Bond Bug??? You Never did you??? Regards Charlie.
  8. Hi Guy's. Hi Dave. I have done a quick check and there were 175 Triumph Cubs in the 1956 ISDT (plunger framed). Tony could have ridden one of these. I will ask some of the Guys who worked for Triumph at the time if they remember him. Regards Charlie.
  9. Hi Guy's. Hi OTF. Now I have been called a lot of names in my life, and probably deserved it. But never a Monkey, not even a Grease one. Thanks Mate. IE, probably need an History lesson now dont you???? PS, Is that why my hands are so bad? sticking them into spoked wheels when I was young and stupid!! not much change there then!!, Regards Charlie.
  10. Hi Guy's Hi OTF. You dont need a Bantam just yet . you have a bike to ride at my show, you know her name, But if you were realy crocked I have a BANTAM you could ride OK. Guy's, I will work on a form for intrested parties to fill in, and put it onto the Classic Trials Show web site. You can always mail me at char7748@tiscali.co.uk any time. Just give me the incentive and we will go for it. OK. Regards Charlie.
  11. Hi Guy's. BIG BIKES END OF AN ERA??????? Not if I can Help it. I will do my damdest to try and Run the Classic Trials Show, next year again. But it has got to financialy pay for its self next time. So all I need is Full entries of BIG Bikes, and away we go. A show like this is one way that we can get a NEW younger generation intrested in what there Dads Or GrandDads have lurking in the backs of there sheds collecting dust. Just look at the entry for the Talmag every year,(And this is when the weather is cold) So why arnt these bikes out again for the rest of the year???? Has, has been said riders are getting older!!! so if you can not ride your bike through injury or age restraints get a younger lad on your bike for a ride. We know they would realy enjoy it. I will thank Mick Ash again for the use of his Ariel at the Classic Trials Show, and every talented rider that sat on that bike or one of ours came back with a grin on there faces that was a pleasure to behold. So If you think I should run this show again! I need to know "NOW" so that I can try and get the ball rolling. So please do let me know what you think wont you. I need comitment of entries NOW. Regards Charlie.
  12. Hi Guy's. You could try this link for information. http://www.trialsbits.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=80_242&products_id=1027. Regards Charlie.
  13. Hi Guy's Before you do any frame mods you realy need a jig to secure the frame to. and then adust it to suit. Or how do you keep the frame square? I have known a standard Cub have the head angle modified by heating the top and front down tube, But in a jig. Classic (Britshocks) head angle is usaly about 63 degrees but I have gone to 54 to give it a try on my SQ framed bike. Take a look at the jig on my web site. www.bsaotter.com. (gallery). Being stupid !! you can always run the bike into a concreat wall? It as said to have been done in the past. Regards Charlie.
  14. Hi Guy's. Hi Bruce. Yes longer arm New hole!! I yesterday made the new alloy cover hole and bung and welded it in place. Then I set too and made a new longer bronze pushrod bush for the mainshaft. then a new bearing carrying plunger, that now works in the mouth of the main shaft. this seems to be a lot better (if it works OK), and I think it will. I would put a picture on of the conversion, but then I would be reinventing the wheel so there is no point is there Bill. PS do you have an Armac fitted to your bike? My modification is going onto a bike that is going to be ridden every week end in the IOM OK. PS and in the week as well. PPS, I will put the photo's onto my web site. :banana2: Regards Charlie.
  15. Hi Guy's. Hi "Old Trials Fanatic" Or is that now "Old Fanatic At Trials"? If nothing else you keep the ball rolling. PS. Just had a quick ride on "Bessie" the other day, she says Hello!! :banana2: Regards Charlie.
  16. Hi Guy's. Hi Bruce. Yesterday after getting involved with this thread. I set to and redesigned and made a new clutch arm, longer, wider, and stronger, and with better leaverage. I just hope it will work as well as it looks. The only down side is that the cable end protrudes through the outer case hole. I am today going to weld on a new cap and screw cover over this. Fingers crossed it will work. The build of the old one was crude was'nt it. and not a thing you would put into production today, or should have then. PS I fitted steel insert into one alloy presure plate to stop threads stripping, very common on these alloy plates to strip the thread, not good engineering practice. A better solution would be to make the area stronger(thicker) and modify the primary chain case. Regards Charlie.
  17. Hi Guy's Hi Bruce. Just reading your problems. And I will say that I have had problems with the alloy billet preasure plates on two of my C15's and they are both of diferent manufacture. By fitting the old steel BSA plates back after surface grinding them solved the clutch slip problems. I might add that another C15 with a different billet alloy plate is just fine, no problems. But it may be worth you just trying the old steel plate back. I am also working on a Cub clutch, trying to fit another plate, I will let you know if it works or not later. Regards Charlie.
  18. Hi Guy's. Hi Dave. The Mk1 Faber "Otter" frame used to come with a swinging arm spindle with a narrow nut bronze welded to one side and I seem to remember a slimed down lock nut on the brake side. I know this sound painfull but I turn my own nuts with a larger diameter and a slimmer profile. You can always turn the back off of a lock nut for one side, and braize a thick washer to the other side. Any way you know what you are doing. PS I may try some PTFE bushes as I have a lump I can machine some out of. And have fitted some into the SQ frame. Thanks Dave. Regards Charlie.
  19. Hi Guy's Hi Dave. Heard about your mishap. Things do take longer to get better the older you are, and then you start feeling older when you are ill! Like both me and you today. Doing my website and a bit on here helps to take my mind off feeling ill. I agree about the Faber sub frame it is a bit wide. When I look at the SQ frame of mine ( see web site) I feel that is a lot better. Most "Otters" have plastic pads on the swinging arm box, as yes it is wide and high. Has your swinging arm got the New plastic bushes? It would be good if you could send me some pictures etc. Hope we both get well soon. Regards Charlie.
  20. Hi Guy's. Hi Dave, Just wondered if there was any progress with your Faber Mk3 Otter BSA build? I have a Mk 3 Faber frame to fit a Cub engine in for my nephhew in the IOM to ride. I have decided to fit what is in actual fact a large capacity cylindrical oil filter to increase the oil capacity as well as the oil in the frame. (pictures on the www.bsaotter.com ) site shortly along with the build photos. Are you still fitting a oil tank? As I said I would love to have pictures of your build to put onto the "Otter" site if you have time, and a few build notes?? Regards Charlie.
  21. Hi Guy's. Hi Jim Here are the photos of the rests that I have made.( the gaps are for engine plates) I had them galvanized as well. Regards Charlie.
  22. Hi Guy's. Hi OTF. A Bike is as much as you want to pay for it! I know I would sooner have bikes about, that I can look at, touch, and ride (ocasionaly). And know that they are there. If you have money in the bank, Do you know if it is going to be there next week? Or even the Bank??? (OK you know I build a few as well) Regards Charlie.
  23. Hi Guy's. Hi Jim. I forgot to say that there are pictures of the bike on my web site. www.bsaotter.com This might help! Regards Charlie.
  24. Hi Guy's. Hi Huff. I have some pictures in my gallery I will post them when I have time. I will also take a couple of shots of the rests and brackets that I made. Regards Charlie.
  25. Hi Jim. You can do it by mod-ing the points to swivel and then attach a cable onto an arm fixed to this plate. We Fitted Electrex ignition onto our Crusader, and would not recomend anything else. Regards Charlie.
