Nice one Ralph I'm going to look like Frazer I recon or Pikey, hope that aint one of me gates, them farmers have a habbit of taking off perfectly good gate fittings and swapping for bale twine, seen it done?
If anyone comes from the Snowshill road in, once you get to the metal gate accross the road that says keep gate shut the field to park in is imediately on your left just past the gate. My Transit (White) will be parked in the field in the best spot If you are coming from Buckland, drive past the farm house/buildings up the hill and the gate into the field is on your right, you may have to back into the field as the gateway is at an acute angle if i remember.
Just checked the weather and it looks dry all day, bit of rain late tonight but that should give more grip on the banks, Ralphs stuck new tyres on tonight (or I did it for him more like it) as hes wants to show the legend a thing or too tomorrow about grip. Dan is as we speak trying to work out where he left his bike after his last ride and crossing his fingers someone has hit it with the cleaning and maintenance stick he will also be running the double split link Iris chain tomorrow so watch out for a Scorpa coming back down a hill at mach 4
-
Kick Start Round Ralph Nice one!!!!! he does doesnt he, looking forward to seeing Dan doing his stuff tomorrow and all that hopping sideways and going backwards down hills like they used to in 90's. Be good to see the Bletch kangeroo as well, plenty of banks for back wheel hopping. Dads unlikely to come now though so the mega tight sections might not happen unless the Legend sets some out. Anyone gets there early and sees some old bloke with a strimmer covered in nettles head to toe and a roll up sticking out his gob whilst dribbling Redbull say hello.............that'll be me
-
The Legend is definatley coming just rang him, he'll be the one wearing Eigers cast offs (told me Ellgren is the new Hebo) and on a Skoda, but will make us lot look like we just started riding.
Ralph is also making an appearance says hes getting there at 9.30, get the best of the cake selection he told me earlier, so Pete, ring Nick up to tell his misses to get up the local Tesco tonight for extra flour/butter etc
-
Sorry mark, no mate, red is the new black

Bike ran really poor for the first hour today and then stopped, lack of fuel feeling so cleaned out the carby and looks like it was some of the tacky stuff they hold the float seal in. Ran perfect after the jets got a blast of air, cleaned up the seal and back out for a few more hours. Suspension is spot on now and the motor is bedding in nicely as well. I am finding the Sherco has to be ridden in a completely different way to the Beta, not abit different but completely different, if its gets ridden like the beta things dont happen, but ride it like it should and you can do things you never thought you could before. It will take a bit of time to ride it right but I am certainly enjoying a learning phase again.
-
Video yer nice one Ian the Goat wont dissapoint nor will James, both well known for attempting stuff that maybe they shouldnt, but to be fair they both usually get up. I ve just tried to find the Farm on multimap Ian but if I cant I am sure Pete will have Nicks postcode on here tonight.
-
Weather looks really good for the est of the week including saturday trying to get Dad to come out and sort out some mega tight sections for the young uns and himself. There is a rumour the GOAT EWERS might be coming so expect plenty of full on climbs, lots of reving and over the head bike throwing Ralphs got to do his hair and nails so wont be coming, but James Caber Drewitt should be making an appearence to keep the Sherco numbers up.
Going to try and get there for 8 ish and see if i can cut some of the stuff down for an hour or so and get the best pick of the cakes Nicks wife makes see you all there guys

There you go Pete, why not? whos going to complain? better that way than having club money gathering dust in an old bank account for years doing nowt. Wouldnt it be easier on a Saturday/Sunday to say to the misses, just off to work love rather than just off to give up all my spare time for nothing this weekend. You could even set it out on a Friday and have saturday off and get paid doing something you enjoy as well,
-
Maybe the entries are high Ian due to the way the events are run, its a very very impressive club and organised really well at every event i did with them. I'm not saying give up the day job but getting paid something must be a better incentive for many to help and give up there time in running clubs. Ask a 17 year old to give you a hand for 6-8 hours on a Saturday in the p****** rain to set out a trial for nothing and then ask him the same thing for 30 quid and see what happens, bet he'll ask if he can help out alot more often. I do abit, not as much as i would like to but I simply dont have enough spare time to help out regualry without it effecting my income in some way. May even produce enough to pay the observers which should bring a few out and put a smile on the face of the grumpy one
-
Got to be a good way to go Ian, some of that unpaid effort and time deserves to be paid for in my view and could free up some time for organisers in the week to sort things out rather than giving up most of there weekends.
Not sure what the ACU stance would be if clubs were run as businesses and profit making ones at that but I think it would be the best way to go for some clubs. I am pretty sure Steve Irelands Enduro Club runs as a businesss, maybe loads do but i do remember how well events were organised and run and money spent on whats needed.

Thanks for all the info guys will follow those tips up next week. Forgot to look what size jets are in the Keihin but i do know the pilot is a 45, James was told to stick a 50 in his to help prevent blockages which he ran last year on his 06 Caber with success. Mines running sweet so will stick with the 45 for the time being. No crap in the carb after stripping yesterday and the air filter/venturi the same as well even though it had 5 hours Saturday in the dust, and plenty of mud on the Sunday. The Keihin is a little tricky to remove the float bowl and stick back on due to the angled vent that runs between the floats, very easy to clean though and once James showed the best way to remove the float its easy.
James did quite a few nice mods to the wiring loom to make things easier by installing a self made loom to re-link the system together and remove most of the unwanted stuff. Also did a nice bit of work with black silicone on his bike at the point where the mudguard meets the sub frame/airbox to stop any water/dirt getting into the filter. I will have a go next week and post some pics of what he has done on mine and the silicone sealing.
Mark I have got the kill switch next to the mental button , pic below, and the Caber had thin vent inserts already on the mudguard but i think i will go with Chriss's idea and pinch the wifes sieve when shes not looking for added support behind the stock mesh.
-
Big thanks to James for spending a few hours today sorting out the wiring loom, re-routing stuff and going through the carb for me everything lined up fine and no problems at all, still not needed to change any of the bolts for better ones.
-
Mark, I'm going to try the switch Wednesday to see what happens on some big hill climbs. James bought one as well and used his yesterday, said there is a noticable increase in power and throttle when used on map 2 on all rev ranges, bikes much more lively. I am not really bothered about the map at all, i think the bike has more than enough power as it is and things like that are why I did'nt go for the 4RT. I will give it a try though, might come in usefull for massive climbs or added revs to aid pushing whilst stuck on a slippy rock or climb.
Stripped the bike this morning to get rid of the unwanted wiring loom and get familiar with bike, really impressed how easy the parts come off and go back on again. Pretty much everything is allen type bolts and larger head types, cant find any bolts yet to replace with better ones. Wound the shocker up a bit as advised as it did feel too soft yesterday, forks seem to be perfect now after 10 hours of riding.
Filled up with Ipone clutch fluid and will be giving the carb a good clean up later under the guidence of James who knows these bikes inside out.
Did a trial yesterday on it, bike definatley needs learning, dropped a few marks from it not behaving like the Beta, but that will soon come and looking forward to learning it again. I find it very very easy to ride compared to the Beta, the front is lower so I will have to learn how to carry the front better and I have moved the bars back now as i felt i was too far forward yesterday at the trial. Grip is spot on and it is a real job to actually ride the bike anywhere in a section without wanting to have a flick or hop, these bikes are made for this type of riding. I may well get some V Force reeds from RY as the biggest difference is the very very low down grunt the Beta has is lacking in the Sherco, it wants to pick up to qucikly. I am learning the throttle slowly and the grunt point but think the V Force reeds may give it back straightaway, could well be the higher first and second gear as well though.
Only downside so far is that i wished I had bought one this time last year when I started up again, this bike is real fun to ride
-
You might well be right there Perce, best give me late numbers every day i recon so I no-one has to follow behind me. We all love our first gears, pretty much for everything and especially in the streams up North. The first gear on the Sherco is abit higher than the beta but it has so much range I might leave it alone as standard. Second feels about the same as first to start with but will pull up just about anything once its wound up, 3rd is mental and I'm not trying 4th till i'm used to the bike a bit more and same goes for the map 2 switch
-
Brian, your right, you need sunglasses on really but it does look good. Not sure why i worried about buying blind? its just like a Gasser which i love but much better built, best of both worlds really. Been out today and its an amazing bike to ride, extemely light and small and immense power on tap if you want or need it. Motor is mega smooth and responsive even though its still alittle tight and running on a rich run in mix, its great not to have to worry about switching the fuel off and on and stopping it pointing down hill either.
Did'nt have a big off today but it has scars already, more tomorrow no doubt
