  1. Chad, 270 it is then, be perfect for that sort of riding it will pull 4th on hill climbs from nothing and has loads of torque, you might find top speed abit slow after the yz but easy to gear it up if you wanted too. Make sure youve got a renthal chain fitted as the cheap chains have a habit of snapping easily, more expensive but well worth it for the riding you want to do. Keep her running on good high octane unleaded and best 2 stroke oil you can get, might be worth richening it up a little if your blasting around for hours on end.
  2. Chad, if you like being stretched out like a flag for 8 hours on a sunday go for the 270 they can be a right handfull to start with and you might find you wont learn as quick as you would if as Barry said you started with a 200 or 250. Betas are reliable in general, good build quality and the parts seem quite cheap when you bust some. For most stuff and events I ride the 270 is way to powerfull to get the most out of it, but saying that it will come into its own some times on big hills,no run up climbs and the mud.
  3. Bruce, two companies linked below, one is a major UK dealer who deal with Beta (BVM) the other is the importer (lampkins) both are very helpfull and I am sure will have the answers you need. Good luck BVM Lampkins
  4. I ve heard lots of things about lots of bikes breakages and problem wise, but not a bad word about the 4rt? yes they need a little getting used to riding wise from what I heard but never anything about things failing. The monts have pretty much been the top for build quality and the 4rt has been around long enough now for any major faults to show. Personally I would go for the Mont, in my own view the Gassers fall to bits and some do have major problems, if you like keeping on top of your bikes and chucking parts at them get a Gasser they ride the best out of the lot but need looking after and a fat wallet. If I had the money I would buy a Gasser (My favourite bikes) but would only have one if I could afford a duplicate in the van for backup
  5. Cracking pics Barry must have taken a while loading that lot Nice one!!!!!!!

Jack, if the bike runs not too badly half to full throttle it may just be the needle not closing the fuel off, it will flood up to half throttle abit as the excess fuel cant be used quickly enough. And make sure you put yer fag out before doing the fuel check
  8. the addict replied to jack_h's topic in Beta
Jack, test the float valve is closing/shutting the fuel off if you havent already. Remove the carb, take the float bowl off and hook up the fuel, very lightly hold the tangs so they close the fuel valve, if fuel is getting past could just be dirt or a worn seat/needle. Make sure the carb is at roughly the same height/angle as it would be if connected to the bike.

Dads wondering what plug type to use in his 06 4rt? the plug is always very black as if the bikes rich or do you think a different plug is needed. I think the standard was a 6 but he has been using a 5 recently but its not made much difference. May just be this is how they all run though? Thanks for any help/info Just
  10. Good old Miguel hes about 67 now but still claims hes in his mid thirties? Be great to see Mladin and him in WSB getting there arses kicked but the big US money keeps them over there. Isnt it about time Ellison packed it up? Be great to see young Ben in World supersport soon dragging his elbows and shoulders round the tracks, hope he gets his chance
  11. Neo, the airbox will come out without removing the rear shocker but you will have to remove the silencer and mid-box. I cant say I have tried really hard to get the air box out without removing them as its just simpler and quicker to take the exhaust off. If the shock bolt is seized buy some good quality anti seize/penetrating oil spray and leave it soak over night, I usually find that if a bolt is stuck, tightening it very slightly to start with tends to break its hold then it will undo alot easier. Make sure you use a good fit allen key to get the bolt out and it helps if you attach a long spanner to the allen key to help with leverage, they are tight at the best of times.
  12. I got over it no problems everytime Pete, crashing the other side was my downfall
  13. haha, yer thats it Good pic mate
  14. Dont you bloody dare Pete!!!!! I'm ringing Dean tomorrow to send him up there Friday with his chainsaw and chop it up, think he caught his nut sack badly going over the bars last time I heard so he will be glad to turn it into sawdust . See you all there, last time was abit hard at saintbury, Haslam just pipped me by 70 marks

Pete you must have seen the lad racing over here in the 125's, talent like that is very rare, last year he had really good results but didnt get much publicity for his efforts. Now hes got the right bike and characteristics of a 250 hes going to be hard to beat, may not quite get there at the end of the year but will be world champ in the next 2 or 3 years And if Ducati decide to pull out of WSB which they might next month bet Max will be well up there, the new 800's will suit him perfect
  17. Great rides from all our lads and a cracking one from Patrick, nice one hope he can do some more rounds this year
  18. Wait till you stick the Boyesens in

Hi Jack, I ve done a couple of wycombe trials at Stockenchurch but not riding this weekend. If it says Ibstone or near then its more than likely on the link below. Head north up M40, get off at Junc 5 (stockenchurch) turn imediate left at the T junction off the slip road and the Trial is about 3 miles on the left up the road. Have a good un Stockenchurch

Right then all you 4rt riders which throttle body would you recommend to use? the 2 stage switch type (soft/mental) or the full programable one you can alter yourself or buy programmes for? if the programable one is better whick map would you recommend? Doing this post for Dad as hes keen on getting one of the units but has no real clue which is the better. Any comments much appreciated Thanks Just
