Thanks for the comments guys pretty sure the Sherco wont feel to alien to anything else I have ridden in the past. Copemech i will definatley perservere using second a lot more but a lot of the sections we cut are pretty tight and the last time any of us hooked 2nd was 4 years ago on a particulary straight bit of moor crossing at the reeth so might take a while to get used to it.
Both me and Dad have noticed over the past few months how the Sherco seems to find grip where other bikes seem to slip and the motors seem very smooth and clean and have a very fast pickup from nothing.
Ralph you might be right about the male attention over the female? Ewers recons I will have a certain person on my doorstep most nights dressed in Blue " I cant beleive your getting a Sherco Boy!!!!" "Dog **** Ralphy"

Me and Ralph have put 43's on the back, slows everything down nicely but 1st is still plenty for most stuff. 2nd is very usable on everything, 3rd is for biggish climbs and 4th can be pulled from no run up at all for long climbs. Both are 270's though not 250's but worth trying a few options whilst the bike is new.

Right then, bit of a blind plunge, picking up the Sherco next week and never actually riden one before, so what can I expect? power wise, handling, gearing etc etc. I ve been used to Rev 3's for a while now but more happy when I had Gassers as I felt happier how they rode and felt. I have heard the bars might feel abit low and the gears might take a bit of getting used too.
Thanks for any comments good or bad

Nice one Barry never buy the TMX as its cack, but might just pop down the newsagent tomorrow and buy a copy. How many shillings did they give ya for the pictures? or did they give you a years free subscription?

Its called personal choice Eddy, not everyone is as lucky as you to be able to get a new bike every year and a lot of people like how there bikes ride so keep them longer. I really like my Beta at the moment and it has crossed my mind this week whether to keep it a little longer as its running really well. Nothing wrong with giving your bike abit of makeover with new bits or individuality

I used to ride on the track with me tongue out, every time I crashed I nearly bit the bugger off, so now I ride Trials I make sure the thing stays firmly in me gob

Hmmmmmmm not heard of that before? would'nt it make the chain more dirty?
I have been using WD40 for ages now, dust and dirt doesnt seem to cling to the chain as much and it washes off really easily, never noticed any abnormal chain stretching over chain lubes or grease. I do spray it everytime I go out on the bike though and if its a long day might do again after a few hours.

Might be this Fantic

Its well worth buying the YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE trye beader if youre going to change tyres or turn them often. Taking the valve out helps no end and as said above make sure the compressor is on full tank and blow it straight in. The trye beader seals the gaps whilst the air is going in and pops itself out if you use some trye soap on the tyre wall. It also helps if you place the wheel and trye ontop of an old tyre the same size and lightly press down which seals the under side of the rim. Stick about 60lbs in the tyre and you should hear it pop twice so the bead is seated properly, deflate it,stick the valve core back in and blow it back up. Piece of p***

If you havent got any of the usual Mikuni problems on your carb (leaking and starting downhill) stick with it. The Dellorto does make a big difference in running but I would only buy one mainly to get rid of the Mikuni problems rather than smoother running. The Dellorto can have its own problems via dirt getting in and abit of a pig to get back on.

I,ve always gone with Galfers, never had any problems and work really well in all conditions
-
Dan, we're missing all that 90's riding at the dishes mate...Nice!!!

Picking it up next week hope to christ I get on with it looking at the price, missus does'nt know yet so might have to tell her I ve sprayed the Rev3 a different colour but bet Ralph drops me in it
-
Pretty much every Beta does it, some worse than others though and some not at all. Mine was almost like the fuel pipe was disconnected but the carb mod which most dealers will do cures the leaking or lessons it abit. Carb mod is about

As Brian says, go with the Beta, hardly hear of any major problems and seizing one up is pretty much always due to a wide open throttle after a big off and it takes longer than you think to nip it up. Even if it does happen its reasonably cheap and easy to sort out.
The one thing that puts me off the 4 strokes is if owt goes major wrong its going to cost mega bucks, saying that though I havent actually heard of one throwing a rod yet.
And as Paul has mentioned, make sure you ride sections first before anyone else on the Beta, next few riders will be slipping about behind you on the trail of p*** most Betas leave behind

Cracking races,125 - 250 and MotoGP. Great to see Vermin win one, he will always remember yesterday for the rest of his life, not many get the chance to win at that level no matter how long they compete.
Best ride of the day though, young Bradley thought he might go for the win later in the race but looked like he settled for a safe third (Wise choice) should give him the lift to be at the top week in week out from now on.
Locatelli made a very, very brave return after horrendous injuries only a few weeks ago, nearly had his foot amputated and major facial reconstruction , good luck for the next round

Disconnect the kill switch its probably just that then anything else

Saw those at the Colmore Ian, as you said great bit work, think Chriss had some pegs he had made as well on the Sherco, both could be a big seller if they go into production
Quality pics as usual lads, hey Heath if that bad back puts you into early retirement, could always earn a few quid with shots like those
-
Bloody hell Criss????? try and do a google search for Gay motorcycle parts dealers mate you might get lucky
-
Nice one Nick glad you enjoyed it. Its well worth asking for as much advise as possible at an event, bike set up etc and even before an attempt at a section, watch a few go through before hand if you can, and see what line they take and where they open and close the throttle. To much throttle at the wrong time or any throttle at all in some cases is the difference between an easy ride through or a five and big getoff.
Its a great sport, very addictive and you can have a great laugh at the same time. Good luck for the next one and if you have the energy after a trial ride some of the sections over again to see if you can make them easier.
