Aparently odd one's of the 175 have had problems with the oil ring passing/failing/not been fitted properly. In the uk birkett's have had 3, now to be 4 cos mines going in on friday to be done. Cheers Glenn

I wouldn't bother, birkett's are loads more helpfull, and i got mine from crosthwaits only 6 weeks ago. i rang my self this week for carb adivce and they were very helpfull.

Was it Scorpa uk (crosthwait's) you rang or birkett motor sport.

It is worth getting a price first for a new tank, from what i remember they are quite cheep about

There are 2 models of 125 the tys and the sy the tys is the cheaper one and is about 2800 retail, the sy has the same running gear as the sy250 and has a retail of about 3400. the tys has cheaper forks, a twin piston front brake caliper, a tubed type rear wheel and a few other little differances.

Hi I was advised by kev the gas gas mechanic that pressing the steerer tube out was the way to go. When i did it on mine, i used a very big vise at work and it came out no problems. Cheers Glenn

Hi lads hope you will be able to help me out. I have a Montesa cota 200 and have a bit of a problem with the gearbox on it. When riding up hill it has a tendency to jump out of gear, has anyone had similar problems on this bike and if so what was it. I had an Ossa that had a similar fault and it was the spring for the detent plunger had snapped, is there a one of these fitted to this bike or is it a different system. Any help would be gratefully received. Cheers Glenn

you could try the dish washer. used to use it for my motox plastics, used to do a good job aswell. after they are clean coat them with a clear lacker. Glenn

Thanks lads. I,ve ordered a new set of points and a condensor. hopfully this will cure it. Next thing is setting the timing. Could anyone give me a step by step set up guide. the last bike i had that wasn't electronic ignition was a bultaco sherpa and that was nearly 20 years ago. and i never touched the timing on that anyway. Hi I wonder if theres any one out there that can help me. I am doing up an old Montesa cota 200 and have found that it has no spark. I have tried a new plug, coil and plug cap. is there any way of testing the generator? also could the condensor cause this? Thanks for any help.
